Sister Gracie loves watching television, but she always insists on controlling the remote thingy. As you can see, she is kind of awake while she was watching on the the cat documentaries recently.
Sister Gracie was surprised to learn that some of the myths about tabby cats are still hanging around, for example:
1. Tabby Cats can see very good in the dark. Y’all, that one is not
totally true. While we can see okay in the dark, we really use our
whiskers a lot to help us find our way around, especially in
strange places.
2. Tabby Cats always land on our feet. Well, it is true that we are
very sure-footed and agile, however it is not uncommon for cats
to break a paw during a jump we shouldn’t have made. As a
matter of fact, I’ve rolled off the couch before and almost broke
my butt!
3. Tabby Cats are Stupid. Now do you believe someone actually
mentioned that one! The physiology of a cat’s brain bears a
striking resemblance to that of humans more than any other
animal, so there! Psychologists have noted that our ability to
escape confinement is superior to that of any other animal, and
I know that one doesn’t surprise you. We can open doors, lift
latches, and jump many times our own length over walls. Oh yea,
I know you know this one, we have a built in clock, we know
when it’s time for you to come home, and when it is time for
bed.
4. Age. Finally, there is no truth to this one at all, you can’t tell the
age of a tabby cat by counting the rings on our tail.
Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it! Purrrr! Zip! Later!
Us diluted calicoes are good at telling time too. I always wake Daddy up at 4AM, so he won't be late to work. I wonder why they don't appreciate that on the weekend? ~Scylla
Tabby's Rule ~ Socks
Hi everyone. ~Artemisia & Fenris
You guys could be like Myth Busters!
I didn't know. Thanks for all the great information.
Thanks for the good info. We know that there is no such thing as a stupid cat!
Sniffie and the Florida Furkids
So gald you are setting everyone straight with the facts! Sister Gracie looks so cute laying like that ~ belly up ~ squinch the belly!
Tabby cats are AWESOME! But that is a well known fact.
Our Owen often lands on his butt when jumping up for the feather wand. He's so in hunter mode that he doesn't think about what he's doing…kids.

Sister Gracie is such a cutie…….and we thank both of you for the myth busting. Keep watching those cat documentaries and reporting. Have a happy, relaxing day…..xxxxxxxxxx
She's smart!
Thanks for setting up straight, Gracie! We're all better educated now.
I just love all those orangey tones on your underbelly! You are one gorgeous tabby girl, for sure!
That is wonderfully informative. Thanks for sharing.
Those are very interesting – who on earth would think any cat is stupid – I think that is a person who has never been around cats. All the cats I have known are very smart. I knew the dark thing though – that is why they always say to have a nighlight if the litter is in a dark area, because cats need a bit of light to see – but they do see better then humans in low light.
Thanx for the tabby info, Some interesting things there! And you look SOOOO cute w/the remote!
Gracie is too cute=love the belly, I want to rub it!!
Super Cool – she looks like shes good at the remotie
We're always interested in cat knowledge. Interesting stuff.
LOL, what a cute picture!!
A couch potato????
Must not be one of your favorite programs Sister Gracie since it looks like you are half asleep. Tabby cats are the best. We all like them a lot. Be careful and don't fall off that couch now and break a leg.
Great mythbusting, Brian!
Gracie, I love your belly! It's so snorgleable.
My tabby, Q, was probably the smartest cat ever (he could open the door of his cage at the kennel, from the inside!)and before him was Kioki. Both were very very intelligent. Whoever said that Tabbies are not smart are full of it!
OMG! This is too funny! We should declare today to be the TV remote day! What do you think Gracie?
Loki
You sure live at a nice place. We never get to pick our own tv programs.
Purrz,
Ozark Mountain Cats
Haha! You look like our dad. He lies back in the recliner and hogs the remote.
Sister Gracie looks sweet just lying there. I can't wait to have kitties of my own. 🙂 I gave you an award on my blog!! Go check it out and congrats!! 😀
XOXOXOXO Puddin
Brian doesn't stand a chance with the remote in your house! Girls rule!
Laila
You guys belong on Mythbusters!! Wally says that last one sure isn't true because he had lots of rings on his tail even when he was a baby!
Ernie
That was a great tummy shot with the remote.
Tabby cats stupid!!!!?? I can hardly wait until Ginger reads that one. Yes, I'm sure she can read…
So what inquiring cats wanna know…did you watch Oprah?
This was fun to read. I'd never even heard of most of those before… Love the picture!
Stupid cat – what nonsense! All cats are smart.
Sister Gracie looks so cute there playing with the remote. One more pic in our furriends' album.
I'll never let my mom know how smart I am. After all, I don't want her to know all of my secrets.
We enjoyed reading the Myths! We thinks that those are furry interesting. Mom giggled about the rings on the tail!
Yes truly Cat Myth Busters! I never heard the one
about age and tail rings… that is funny! 🙂
They must of confused trees with cats, although
cats do enjoy tree climbing but not coming out of
the tree! I agree the Tabby cat is smart, savvy and most have a long life, both of my childhood tabbies lived to be 18 years +. 🙂
(sigh) Why do these old myths survive? We cats cannot see in complete darkness, we don't always land on our feet and we're certainly not STUPID!!! And that holds true for all cats, not just tabbies.
George
Hi Sister Gracie,
