Thankful Thursday – Veterans Day

veteransday2010

Today I want to express my heartfelt thanks to American’s veterans for their dedication and service to our great country.  Not only have our veterans protected us and our freedom during times of war, they also look after us during times of peace as well.

While we would prefer that things always be peaceful the reality is often otherwise.  During times of war or crisis our veterans were there.  It’s not just the human veterans that I am thankful for today, I am also thankful for the countless animals that served our country too.  The horses, dogs, mules, homing pigeons, and others served our country with pride and dignity too.

I am thankful that we have a special day set aside to honor our veterans, including my Grandma, a veteran of WWII.  Thank you all for being there for all of us.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old, age shall not weary them, nor the years condem.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Today we're thanking all Canadians who have served, human and non-human, and who continue to serve. It's Remembrance Day in Canada, the UK, Australia, etc.

Wow! Your Grandma is a Vet? That's very cool. Our Mom's Aunt served in WWII also, she was an Army Nurse. We salute our Veteran's today and remember always!

A Veteran is someone who at one point in their life wrote a blank check… payable to the United States of America….for an amount up to (and including) their LIFE. My family thanks you for your service and continued fight for our freedom. What you have takes even more than courage, valor, and commitment. It takes heart. 100% heart. God Bless you and especially those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank You

Brian, red/white and blue are DEFINITELY your colors! you look so handsome with the flag.

Your Grandma must be one strong and amazing woman. Wasn't common for women to be in the military back then.

Hugs to her and to all of our soldiers, past and present

The Human's father was a Marine Captain who did two WWII tours in the South Pacific, including Guadalcanal. He was a very brave man. I think I might have liked him more than my Human, to tell you the truth 🙂
