We are Lil Em and Sapphire and we were adopted from a rescue group in South Carolina four years ago. Our owner says she wants to make a lifestyle change and that does not include having kitties anymore. Guess we were really not REAL members of this family.
Our foster had a vet check us out when the rescue received us back and it was ascertained little Sapphire has an enlarged kidney! What does that mean? No one seems to know. She has no outward signs of any problem and uses the litter box and eats and drinks like a normal kitty. Me, Lil Em checked out fine. The vet told us to put Sapphire down, however I am so attached to my sister. You see, we’ve been together since the womb.
We know it is nearly impossible to find us a home, given the fact that one of us may be sick. But we are counting on Brian to do his magic and find just one loving individual out there in the blogosphere who would be willing to put their heart and love out there to keep me and Sapphire together. I’m afraid our only other option is to put Sapphire to sleep if we are not adopted together given her potential diagnosis.
We are currently loving in a garage in South Carolina where the heat index is very hot, with fans blowing. We have no other place to go. We have been with other kitties with no problem whatsoever and even a large chocolate lab who we thought was kinda neat.
Please, will you be that person to open your heart and home to keep me and Sapphire together and help us not to have to make that awful decision for Sapphire??? Please help us get our prayer answered.
If you can help, please let Brian know at brianfrum (at) gmail (dot) com.
Please tell everyone you know and you have permission to copy and paste and cross post often.
Why on earth would someone put down a kitty for that reason? She’s not suffering, is she? Oh, my. Will be sharing your story, Lil Em, in hopes it might help. Hang in there!!
Hi sweethearts, if we could we’d bring you right here. But we have 7 now, and just can’t do it. But, we have tweeted and put on our Mumsy’s Facebook your link here. We so wish we could do more. We just cannot imagine how awful it must be for you. And how heartbreaking. We do not understand anyone making you not part of the family. You two will be in our prayers. Stay hopeful. We will think of you often.
Oh honey, didn’t the vet tell you? Enlarged kidneys are precursive to kidney failure. Often it’s genetic. But if the other kidney is okay then there’s no reason to fear. The healthy kidney can take over when the sick one does finally shut down. Unless there are symptoms of renal failure, which doesn’t seem to be the case, there’s no reason to consider euthanasia. That kitty has a few good years left and is totally adoptable; will need regular checkups, that’s all. 🙂 Just keep tweeting!
Poor kitties. Their human can make all the changes in the world but will still be a jerk!
So sad someone would just decide they no longer wanted these two – will pass this on!
“Lifestyle change”? Humph. Try “excuse to get rid of feline responsibility”. Grrr … I’ll send Selina over to scratch this person! LOL Seriously, I hope they get a new home quickly!!! There HAS to be someone for this lovely pair!!!!
Laura, Morticia & Selina
Our purrayers are with you both to find a home together. I hope that no one gets put to sleep. Our mama is praying human prayers for you too.
Emma and Buster
It makes us heartsick Brian…..lifestyle change indeed.
*sigh*
Sick.
It just makes me so sick.
Our deepest purrs for these two precious babies.

What a couple of sweeties. I’ll have to do some tweeting. I sure hope they find a forever home this time.
Oh Little Em and Sapphire! Booooo to the person who abandoned you for a “lifestyle change”! 🙁 Oh dear!
Me and Charlie are purring and praying that you both get a good and true forever home! Take care
x
Oh I wish I could have them. My husband will divorce me though if I bring anymore kitties into this house.
I can pray for them though. I so hope someone adopts them.
That is so sad that someone can just not want them any more because they no longer suit their lifestyle. We hope someone can be found to give them a loving home together.
We sure will repost this!
That is pure garbage on the part of the former owner!! People like that make me sick. Make a life change and just throw out the kitties or doggies like trash is so beyond my thinking. I sure hope and pray that they both get a new forever home really soon with some good people! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
Oh, sweeties…We’re sending our purrs, purrayers and Light that you find someone who takes you both ASAP.
We can only hope that the utter disregard your former human obviously has for you comes back to bite her on the *ss.
We tweeted for you too-
This made me cry. What is wrong with people!! We send hopes and prayers that they will find a home, a forever home this time. I hope Sapphire wont have to be put down. Especially if she feels well.
A LIFESTYLE CHANGE????? Are you kidding me, she’s had these babies for four years. Good luck lady..Karma is a beech!
Thanks for the heads up, I will copy and post to my blog.
This breaks Mommy’s heart. If we lived closer and our Daddy would say OK we would take them. They are such pretty girls we hopes someone will come through for them. We don’t know what to say for the sorry excuse who dumped them.
Shawn re-posted this at her blog where I saw it and I have put it out on fb to all my SC friends. We would take them but simply cannot afford another pet—vet bills are CRAZY!
Oh we hopes dey finds dere 4-ever home real soon!
This just tore my heart out. I tweeted it and I also posted it on the Facebook page of the breeder we got Dakota from. She is a veterinarian and she lives in SC…(Not sure how far away she is from you)
I posted it on her wall twice.
I am praying she can help.
xoxoxo
That is a sad story. That bean needs to make a change into a ‘real’ human being!
We agree about the karma.
WE purr very hard for these lovely girls to get a loving home.
Purrs Tillie and Georgia
It’s breaking Nanny’s heart and mine too! We wish, we could help!
lifestyle change? lifestyle change?!?!
Gadzooks, that is beyond dumb. We suppose we should at least give her some credit for not just tossing Em & Sapphire out on the street, but really.
puurrrrrring that those two girls find a real furrever home soonest.
Oh noes! Marmie says this story is breaking her heart. Especially since I have an enlarged kidney. When Marmie found out she was devastated, but it turns out I have a large possibility of living a long healthy life. I have one polycystic kidney, but one normal kidney that we take all precautions to preserve. So far I have not required any expensive vetrinary care. Marmie did buy me a water bubbler to encourage water drinking, and she feeds me high quality wet food daily.
That´s very sad, little Brian
Pepi and I ´ll pray that the little kitties get a new home soon
Lots of Purrs from
Xixo and Pepi
This is soooooo sad. Some people in this world just have no idea what commitment and responsibility are. They are the kind who would tell the kids that due to change in circumstances one of them would have to go. Lifestyle change!!!!!
We purr and pray that the cuties would be adopted together.
Posted on my Facebook page – these poor girls really need a break!
Oh Brian. So sad. I don’t understand how some people make their decisions.
These lil’ sisters are adorable. I will spread the word.
That is SO horrible! We will share this on Facebook. An dof course we will purr and pray for these sweeties.
Hoping for the best for these sweet souls!
Purrs go out for these two sweeties that they find someone that would take the responsibility that comes from rescuing them. Ptth to those humans and their ‘lifestyle change’.
Purrs for them. We are hoping for a miracle!
Pfft to Bad Humans. I should NOT complain about mine. Which doesn’t mean I won’t, of course.
You have BAD PEOPLE! We are so sorry for that! But we are full up here. Purrs.
Adding our White Dog woos and spirit magic to help these two precious kitties. They deserve to be together AND to have humans that promise a safe and loving forever home. We send positive energy that the perfect someone hears all of our prayers and becomes their angel.
Oh this really breaks my heart. What beautiful girls they are. I pray they will find an amazing forever home together as soon as possible with humans that adore them both and give them the wonderful life they deserve.
May that human’s life style change work in horrible ways she never imagined. We’re Tweeting about you two, darlings….

I did tweet and share FB straight away, Brain
This is horrible !
Paws Cross for them
xoxo
I know these pleas serve a huge purpose, but some days I find them just so sad. I want all of these kitties to find a home.
A life change? Well.. they got that right, two little darlins with no furrever home. Sounds like these ladies need a hand. Am sharing with my facebook also.
Oh, these two just have to find homes. We hope someone adopts these two together.
That just make us so sad…we agree with what Cat said earlier…their former human can have their “lifestyle change” but will still be a jerk.
Such sweet kitties ~ sending hugs that you find that special someone!
xo Catherine
i missed this… I don’t understand people sometimes.. how horrible… I really hope they find a “real home” soon, but with you on their side….
I sure hope by now these beautiful girls have a new furever home. If not, I’ll get the word out. *keeping my paws crossed*
I’m shaking my head, wondering what gets into people and vets alike. Honestly. I’m going to keep my paws and Julie her fingers crossed for a good forever home for Lil Em and Sapphire. Let’s keep them together and see what medication will help. Such beautiful kitties looking for a good home and a good heart out there somewhere..
Tom
xoxo
i will take them if no one else will! i have 2 female kitties and a very sweet Corgi who would love new sisters!! i live in birmingham, alabama, so this may be kind of interesting if i were to get them but i am ready and willing to bring them into my home!!!
I am ReTweeting the story several times each day. I am not giving up on these two. I would take in a flash if they were in New Zealand. As it is I will do the best I can for them by spreading the word.
I would sure take both of u if there was acheap way of getting u here to Kan.! I have 17 kids that most of were dumped somewhere! 6 of them are from the Walmart parking lot where I work & people have dumped or gave to me! I won’t turn them down if I can help them!!
We are hoping there is some good news on these precious girls.
Please let us know the outcome. I have reshared…..praying hard for these cuties.
We are two cats who live in Alabama in a nice home where our humans consider us part of the family. Masetto is deaf, and takes a little more care, but I’m sure my family would never just throw us out for a lifestyle change. Our humans are going to repost this out on Facebook and ask their friends too share it too. We hope that Sapphire and Em get a really nice home with a family that deserves them.
Hannah
I wish I lived closer (I’m in Texas), I would take these sweethearts in a well, heartbeat. I’ll repost though. Good luck
Posted on my FB! (“Lifestyle change”?? Shyeah – reason number 10 billion why I like animals more than people. *sigh*)
You bettcha! Going up now!
Have you two found a new home yet? We hope it will be soon!
