Well, it’s time to start another week, and our thoughts are still with all of our friends that were affected by the evil Hurricane Irene. We haven’t heard from all of our pals yet, so we’re anxiously waiting for all of them to check in. Gracie’s boyfriend Alex, from FeelingBeachie.com lives close to the beach in New York. They had to evacuate and he had to go to a place that had dogs, but he did great. Hopefully everything will return to normal for them really soon, but according to Mom Hillary, things weren’t too bad at their home but just a few blocks away it wasn’t too good.
Just a couple of reminders of some events coming up. I know lots of you know about these, but since we always have new friends it’s important to make sure that they know too.
First, on September 9th (09/09) is Mo Cats Day…
Back in 2009, someone (!) said there were “too many cats on the internet”! Can you imagine?! So The Cat Blogosphere came together to change NO CATS DAY to MO CATS DAY and decided to celebrate every 09/09. How? Just post to your own blog, whatever fills your heart and soul and imagination about CATS. Just celebrate ALL CATS!
Then, on September 19th, it’s Meow Like a Pirate Day…
TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY is an international event, taking place every September 19. So, once upon a paw, the Cat Blogosphere decided to join the celebration with MEOW Like A Pirate … and you can, too! For anyone new to this event, just “google” Talk Like A Pirate Day and you’ll find tons of information ~ language, pictures, and moreto help you create an imaginative and fun-filled post for the day.
I must admit, last year I got a little confused with the pirate them and had my picture made with the Pittsburgh Pirates. I should do a little better this year!
Okay everyone, remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
It’s a holiday here, August bank holiday Monday ,and we are relaxing ..of course! Our mum went to a party dressed as a pirate a few years ago, so we might make her dig out the pics for 19/09 and will try to get her to post something purrfect for 09/09 too.
Purrs from Blanco and Commodore Fluffy Paws III.
Yep ! Brain, I still purrs for all too, I hope everyone is o.k., but as far as know, most of our friends are safe and sound.
The new event is interesting, Brain. I think I may join ; )
Happy Monday
xox
Those sound like two fun events. Thanks for the reminders. We are glad that Alex and his family are all right. I don’t see anything wrong with joining the Pirates on Pirate day. We are going to have to watch you Brian. Hope all of you have a wonderful week.
We’re glad Irene wasn’t too mean! And that she’s leaving now!! Good riddance!!
We’re glad Irene wasn’t as bad as expected, though we know she did a fair bit of damage in certain areas. We do hope all the CBers affected weathered it just fine. There’s a new blogger–name escapes us right now, but the mom is Mum Julia–they are in coastal Maine, we believe. We hope they’re okay!
Thanks for the reminder on the upcoming events. We probably will be able to do the first, but not the pirate one. We’ll see!
We were watching the TV news yesterday and were surprised (in a pleased way) when the weather although bad wasn’t as bad as expected. We’ve made a note in mum’s diary about the two upcoming events.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Mom couldn’t find your Monday post – glad you guys are fine! We can’t wait for these two fun days!
We’re hoping those without electricity will be able to check in soon so we’ll know they’re safe.
We must have missed your pirate post last year. 🙂 We hope Jan will help us participate this year.
We are hoping everyone made it through okay! It was a scary storm!
Brian, our Mommy has a Mo cats day every day…at least, we THINK that’s what she was grumbling when we woke her up at 4 a.m. for breakfast.
Our Mo got excited about Mo cats day until he realized it wasn’t all about him…. We aren’t sure how we are going to celebrate like Pirates though….
Glad everyone is checking in OK from Irene.
How perfect is it that Mo-Cats day is on my birthday! Well, we don’t really know when my birthday is, or EK’s either. But we were both born in September and last year Mom decided that my birthday would be 9/9 so I could celebrate at BlogPaws. This year we decided to have EK have the same birthday. It’s serendipitous!
Oh thank you for the info on Hilary and Alex! Awww sweet Alex!! Awwww what a brave mankitty to be ok with all the doggies he had to go with! Sister Gracie is one lucky gal to have such a mankitty boyfriend! Glad to hear they are all ok!!
Awww gorgeous Brian – thanks for all the info to these fun events – especially Mo Cats Day!!
Hugs too to sweet Zoe, Dolly, Sascha and Precious! Take care
x
We were purring for the kitties in the hurricane path too.
Mo Cats Day will be put in our calendar. Hope mama doesn’t forget.
We did a post today, filling everybody in. I think we were very lucky to have just had a power outtage, rain, wind and leaves. We’re doing fine, just catching up!!

Brian, thanks for the updates and the pictures!! We can’t believe it’s been a year since the mo cat day!! It seems like it was last week! Time does fly! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
Yep, we’s still purring for our East Coast friends. Laila’s mancat, Loki, lives in New Hamster and are waiting to hear from him but we bet his power is out. September sure is a busy month! We LOVED your Pirates picture! It made us MOL tons!
We can’t wait for Mo Cats day because we think EVERYONE should have mo cats!!! Btw I like your Pirates picture, they’d be lucky to have you on their team 🙂
I like the picture of you wif the Pirates! Thanks for the information about the upcoming events. I will haf to think about how I’m going to meow like a pirate!
I hope your friends are all ok…and we are praying for those who are affected.
Thank you for the event updates. They sound such fun events. I’m looking forward to them!

LOL… Meow like a pirate cracks me up!
As if there could be too many cats anywhere. I resemble that remark…
Hi Brian!!!! Thanks to the visit and coment… heheeh!
Alemoa hate boxes, but in these case she ate boxes really!!!! Good!!!!
Kisses friend!
We’re purring for the ones we haven’t heard from, too. We’re ok, our hall is flooded, streets are flooded, trees and power lines are down, transistors have exploded, and waves are still crashing.. Evil Irene! We had to evacuate more inland.
You look so comfy, Brian. We had friends that had to evacuate too. But everyone is home now, thankfully. We love your picture with the Pittsburg Pirates! Can’t be much more of a Pirate than that!
Those are some real old school Pirates you’re hanging out with!
Thanks so much for the update about Alex and his Mom, Hilary. I was so busy at BlogPaws and then trying to recover when I got home that I haven’t had a chance to contact her. I am glad they are all safe and sound!
Hope Alex and his mom are home soon!
Your pal, Pip
I loved your Pirates picture! It was a great twist! Never apologize – you are a cat!
It sounds like some fun events!
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Really excited about these upcoming events! But Brian–um, you do know you’re in a (shhh) PINK beddy there, right, man?
Purrs for the safety of all Humans and furPeople.
We have a post in the werks fer Mo Cats Day an we are werking on our PIRATE speech. We aren’t very good at at. TBT says we sound like a Siamese cat trying to fake speaking Russian Blue or vice versa. But at least we got a couple weeks ta get better at it.
TOO MANY CATS on the internet!! Well, of all the nerve! he he – I wonder what they are saying this year because it’s 3 years later and there are 1000’s more. Guess we showed them.
They sound fun to me! Especially the 9/9 one. I’ve already got something in mind. Have you thought about maybe hosting a blogfest with a linky sign up thingy for it?
Brian it is relief that all cat friends are okay and it is because of prepareness so it is going to be posted on the wall so that everyone stays safe.
Sounds like there are a couple of exciting days coming up! I’m gonna write them down so I don’t forget! 🙂
Woofs & hugs, <3
~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
I am keeping my paws crossed that the rest of our kitty community checks in safe – everyone so far seems to have dodged the worst of it.
Brian, Alex & I want to thank you SO much for posting about us…. This AM is the first time I even had a chance to think about blogging, yet alone blog…. Gracie’s love and support helped Alex through a rough time… But, he did great! My little man is one tough man cat!!!
We’re glad everything is OK over there! We’ll try to remember Mo’Cats Day, but our mama is useless and can’t promise!
Such a relief that Irene wasn’t as bad as expected…
Sure hope that all your pals are okay and safe.
Who on earth would ever think there are too many cats on the internet? Clearly it was a dog writing such slander…
