Run Free Little Angel

We had a major sad yesterday and actually we are all still very, very sad.  Something killed the cutest little feral cat.  She looked like a mini Quill from Housecat Confidential.  Dad went out Saturday morning to feed the ferals and saw the Mommy cat laying with what was her only surviving kitten.  Mommy cat moved slightly, the kitten did not.  Something had bitten through it’s little neck.  It looked like it was trying to make a dash for the tree line for safety but it never made it.  Mommy cat didn’t want to leave her little one. Mommy cat didn’t run this time.  Together, Mommy cat and my Dad gave her little one a proper burial.

Friday night the little one spent the evening on our deck looking in our sliding glass door at me, Sascha and Dolly.  She was little, but she was becoming friendly.  We had high hopes of helping this little girl.  Her little blue eyes looking in still haunt us.  I am so sorry I didn’t get to help you, sorry beyond words.  Run free little one, run free.  We loved you and you will live in our hearts forever.

Brian we are so sorry that this happened. Do not be hard on yourself, there are so many things out there that can hurt cats, you cannot protect against all of them. We send rumbly purrs and love to sing the little one to The Bridge

“Nature” can be so cruel. Leaky eyes here, feeling so badly for you and your humans about this tiny one.

Oh darn, Mom’s eyes are leaking again. Brian you know that is the one big problem with feral cats and kittens, it is so hard to help them. We are so sorry and know that you are hurting. Sending tons of purrs to the little kitten. And big hugs to your family Brian. Take care.

So very sad, we keep encountering similar happenings … ten-days ago, the litter we are now caring for went from three to two; no knowledge as to why, except the woods here are full of danger. With our last litter, the littlest one was run over in our very own driveway! We do the best we can for our feral families, but they live hard lives and though we have rarely, if ever, touched one of them … they still hold a sweet place in our heart.

That’s so very sad. We’re sorry to hear that this sweet baby had to go to the Bridge. This is the down side of trying to help – heartache when something bad happens that you can’t control. (((Hugs)))

It’s so sad. I’m sorry for your loss and for the Mommy cat’s loss. It’s so dangerous out there for all those feral kitties. Your kindness made this little one’s short life much better and now she is free. Bless you.

So sorry to hear this. I know how much things like this can hurt–there was so much potential. My sympathies to all.

Teri and the cats of Curlz and Swirlz

We are sorry this happened to your kitten friend. Teri worries about TomTom outside even though he is big and strong, there are lots of dangers out there. But, like you, she gives him food and comfort and love from a distance and hopes that makes his life easier…Fly free, little kitten.

So very sorry this happened to your little one. Even with our help, feral kittens rarely make it to the first year. Their mortality rate is very high. You do what you can and hope for the best. Thank you for caring about these cats. We have lost a few as kittens too when they lived outside – never even knew what happened to them. Sending lots of hugs and sympathy to you all.

Oh, Brian and Dad, I’m choking up here from reading your words. I’m sure “sad” doesn’t even begin to describe how you really feel. Tears for the little one. Baby’s knocking on Heaven’s Door instead.
Hugs to you, remember all you did for the Mommy and her babies. xoxo
