Well, actually my Dad and Flat Brian got to Meet Purina, but you know me, I was certainly there in spirit. We did get to share some cool things with you during our visit, but now it is time for me to tell you a little more about our time in St. Louis.
We were there with 15 other bloggers that are members of the Purina Blogging Community and it was a real thrill to meet everyone face-to-face. The first night we were there we had a welcome reception at the amazing Four Seasons Hotel. The reception was held on a patio area on the 8th floor overlooking the famous St. Louis Arch. It was such a fantastic event, and the food and conversation was an omen of the good things to come.
Here we are arriving at Purina Headquarters, and Dan, our main man at Purina, quickly pointed out the Board of Directors photo on the wall. We were told that everyone at Purina loves their pets and we witnessed that first paw throughout our visit.
Our day started pretty early and we started out the day at Purina Headquartes with a yummy breakfast and an ample supply of coffee for my Dad. We were treated to extremely informative presentations on the Purina Company, Purina Manufacturing Processes, Pet Nutrition, and Pet Welfare. The love of pets was first and foremost in every presentation and, let me tell you, it all came from the heart. By the way, Purina employees are encouraged to bring their pets to work with them! How cool is that?!?!
There are two beautiful kitties, Rocki and Ava, that live on site and are so spoiled by the loving staff. We didn’t see all that much of Ava, but Rocki was around for all of our presentations. Rocki loves, loves, loves attention and everytime my Dad went out for coffee sweet Rocki gave him. Mew request for some petting. Rocki loves to lounge in her big pet food bowl and, since I was a guest, she was nice enough to share with me.
When lunch time rolled around, let me tell you, we were sure in for a treat. We had lunch in the Purina Culinary Center and Chef Amanda prepared an eight course meal just for us. Good? Are you kidding me? The lunch was yummy beyond description! Chef Amanda’s goal is to “inspire the people who create pet food so that they can enrich the lives of pets and the people who love them.” She combines her passion for pets with her culinary expertise, and her creations in the Purina Culinary Center have influenced many of Purina’s products. Amanda has two rescue pets, a dog named Manuka and a cat named Ari.
After lunch we got to tour many of the research facilities and interact with the scientists. The passion for pets was clear, from the PhD types to the lab techs. We capped our day off with dinner at a wonderful restaurant in downtown St. Louis. Tomorrow, my impression of Purina Farms

Loved this report and that Purina let’s employees bring pets to work! Btw, of the 16 bloggers how many were cats VS dogs?
Brian your dad deserves this trip, he saves lives, he spreads the word – he rocks. This was a wonderful trip for him (and flat you MOL!) it is fascinating to see ‘behind the scenes’ and what these people are really like.

That pizza-ish food looks Nommy to me! Now THAT’S the kind of trip I’d like to take. Who needs the ocean or the mountains or stoopy museums??
Now that looked like a fun and interesting trip! You got to go everywhere and see everything!
Nice tour but did you know something rotten is going on in St Louis. Police arrested a man for trying to protect his house from foreclosure. They took his 2 cats & 2 dogs and are going to euthanize them in less than a week. We need to help him.
