A Sister Saturday Gotcha Day with Precious

Brian's Home, adopt cats, we deserve it!Well lookie here, it’s my Second Gotcha Day!  I am a very happy girl and I am so very happy here and I know that my Dad and Mom love me very much.  There was a time when I was not happy at all, right after my first Mom died and left me.  But I don’t want to dwell in the past, so for those of you who are new, you can read about my plight HERE and the announcement that I was coming to Brian’s Home HERE.  Thank you Brian for not letting it all turn out some other way.

When I first came here I had never seen another cat before, especially up close.  So, I stayed in my own private bedroom for a while with the added comfort of a closed door.  After a while my Dad tried to introduce me to the family and things didn’t go too well.  I just went nuts at the sight of another kitty. So, back into the bedroom I went.  Hey, I liked it, and I felt quite safe and secure.

After a while I started getting a wee bit bored.  So my Dad bought a gate for the top of the stairs (I live upstairs in my own private suite).  As I ventured out of my bedroom I still was not a happy camper when I saw those others downstairs.  Nope, not happy.  Then, as time went along, I did finally get used to seeing them down there and didn’t hiss, growl and poof tail as much.  Now, two years later I am down to the lower landing (one step at a time) and just five small steps away from the others.  The stairs are screened in and the landing is gated for my comfort and security.  I don’t hiss, growl or poof tail as much unless someone comes right up to the gate…which is known to happen from time to time.  My Dad and Mom have been very patient with me and are not going to push me into doing any more until I’m darn good and ready.

So I’ve got lots of room and seriously, I am a happy girl.  Dad spends lots of time with me and we play and I get brushed and furminated and I purr up a storm.  I’ve got great windows for whiffin’ and I’ve got the best backyard view in the house from my very own cat tree.  Most importantly, I am comfortable having two rooms, a bathroom and free run of the stairs.  There are lots of times I think I’m ready to try another step towards downstairs but then someone comes up to the gate and gets me a bit poofed up again.  Then I think I’ll wait a bit longer.  My Dad says I don’t have to hurry, and I like that about him.

I do want to thank Sister Zoe for letting me do my post today even though it was her turn.  Have a great weekend everyone!  Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip!  Later!

Happy Gotcha Day Precious. When Autumn came to live with the peeps after Gramma passed, she stayed locked in Pop’s room. She only ventured out when Nicky was asleep and that was toward the end of her life. She was a very happy cat as an only cat and her door was only open when the peeps were home and could make sure Nicky didn’t attack her. I AM kinda surprised in your case that your new Mom and Dad didn’t foster you until they could get you into a home where you would be an only cat.

Happy 2nd Gotcha Day to YOU !!!

You sound a lot like my two girls. Jasmine is my Snowshoe Siamese. She stays mainly in my bedroom, bathroom, closet area. Rarely she’ll come downstairs for a look around but runs back up to her safe zone. Meredith Ann has the bonus room. She even eats, sleeps and does everything else there. She doesn’t come into the bedroom area at all since the boys might be there. The boys don’t really care about the girls. Maybe it’s a boy thing. lol

You are very lucky. Our last cat, Biene, had been abused when we got her. Mom worked for years to befriend her but it was rare that she allowed even mom near her. She made friends with our cat Boo and as long as Boo was around Biene was almost normal. Shortly after moving to the US, Boo died suddenly at only 8 1/2 yrs old, Biene was devastated and never really came out again. It was a very sad life but mom did all she could for that kitty. Take your time and maybe someday you won’t need the… Read more »
