Sister Saturday with Gracie Conquering a Fear

42 Comments on Sister Saturday with Gracie Conquering a Fear

Brian update;  Brian is about the same, still going frequently but he has has a few periods when he hasn’t gone for a couple of hours.  It will likely be another day or two before any real difference.  Thanks for all the well wishes.

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it! Hello friends!  I hope you all are having a good weekend, so far all is good around these parts.  Actually things are always pretty good around here and I sure have been having some fun.

Today I really do have to tell you something pretty special.  Sometimes in life we have a fear of something.  Oh come on, you’ve had a fear of something haven’t you?  Well, I’ve had a fear, a self imposed fear, for a long, long time.  Brother Brian and the sisters have told me that my fear was silly, but to me it was quite real.

My fear?  I have been totally afraid of the ceramic water fountain ever since it arrive here several years ago.  It may sound silly to you, but that thing was darn scary to me.  The others would watch me watching it and would giggle as I would try to sneak up on it and try to get a closer look.  But every single time I started getting close I would turn tail and run.  I love fresh water and Brain kept telling me I would like it.  Nope, I just couldn’t get that close, no matter how hard I tried.

Then it happened.  Just the other day I was sneaking up on that fountain again.  Then it happened, I took a deep breath and sat down and had a nice big drink.  I did it!  I did it!  I conquered my fear, and I liked it, lots.  I’ve been back a couple of times for more drinks. Can you believe that one?  The others were very proud of me and truthfully, I was kind of proud of myself.

If I can do it, you can too!  Do you have any fears you would like to conquer???

Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend everyone, and I’ll see you next time.  Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Sister Gracie you are so brave! Well done for getting over that fear.

I am scared of dogs. Whenever a dog walks past the house or I hear dogs barking, I growl and bristle up. If the dog is allowed to come onto our driveway, I run and hide.

Still sending Brian lots of purrs and love

Way to go, Gracie! Derry is afraid of just about everything, so we’re not even sure where he’d start, to conquer some of them. 🙂 BTW, we were just scanning through Feedly and saw a note on another blog that Brian is back at the vet….We didn’t note the day, but presumed it was yesterday or today. If that’s the case, we’re revving up our purr motors to super-high…We had hoped that would be the end of it, with no bacteria found, etc. Paws crossed for him. (Better yet would be that Feedly got messed up and that was an… Read more »

That’s so brave, Sister Gracie! We would like to conquer our fear of strange people and loud noises…Mommy needs to get over her ridiculous fear of cockroaches. We keep trying to tell her they are super fun to play with but she just runs off screaming. Silly Mommy.

Gracie Gracie Gracie, my teeth and claws are sharp and I have no fear. Just cos I retreat to my office UTB every time there’s a move-in , move-out in the hall doesn’t mean I’m scared. So glad you conquered your fear.

Sister Gracie, that is truly a wonderful thing conquering your fear like that. I understand. For some reason I have an awful fear of drinking cans and bottles. Someone must have been mean to me once and mommy has to be very careful to not have a water bottle or cola can that she can reach for while I am on her lap. I will run away quickly though I love my mommy.

Brian darling boy, PLEASE get better.

Gracie, you are looking particularly wide-eyed and beautiful today. Concatulations on putting your fear aside and using the fountain. It took a few months before all of us were using ours. You are to be commended for your bravery. Our biggest fear is of strangers and the house and yard have been filled with them lately. We’re all putting in bunches of UTB time lately. Brian is in our prayers. And we know all his many other friends are praying as well, and we know that prayers work! Have a quiet and restful weekend efurrybuddy. Purrs and hugs, LO, M,… Read more »

Gracie, that’s awesome! Y’know, I’m scared of the rug sucking monster. But lately, when it comes out, I’ve been staying around and watching it. But I still run away if it gets too close to me. But I bet soon I won’t run away at all!

We’re all purring real hard for Brian and hope he feels better soon.
