Hello everyone. Not much to report this evening. The specialist Vet called me around 6:00 this evening. Gracie was still about the same, alert and her breathing is pretty good. Her temperature is still holding at normal. The xrays still show pneumonia, so she has lots of healing to do yet. Gracie had blood work done and all functions are in the normal range. Her white blood cell count is slightly elevated which is typical of what they see with an infection. Gracie was nice enough to cough up some good phlegm for them so they are culturing it to identify anything unusual and give them a better insight as to what is going on inside her.

Gracie is alert when someone comes around to see her and she is still eating some. Tomorrow they are going to try her in a bigger cage without the oxygen for a while and see how she does.

Brian is still pretty snotty and so is Miss Precious. Brian, always the good pill taker, fought me tooth and claw when I tried to give him half a benedryl. Miss Precious, the don’t even think about pilling me girl, took her half of a benedryl just ine…go figure. Oh, they both like pill pockets until you stick a pill in one.

Thanks for keeping the purrs and prayers coming, we are overwhelmed by your kindness.

Dad Terry

How wonderful to hear that Gracie is alert. I hope she does really well without the oxygen tomorrow.

Hopefully, Brian and Precious and Sascha will all be a lot better tomorrow. I’m really hoping! It’s amazing how the pill ruins the pill pocket for kitties.

I’m still praying for all you guys. My heart goes out to you. I know it’s a lot right now. You’re such good and amazing parents for your kitties.

  2. Sometimes, Cats Herd You

It’s good to hear that Gracie is holding her own. We hope that she, Brian, Precious, and Sacha will turn the corner and start to feel better so you can breathe a sigh of relief. Until then, we’re keeping you in our thoughts and purrs.

  3. Nerissa's Life

At our house you have to wrap the pill in a pill pocket and then wrap the pill pocket in the fanciest of the feasts. Except for Seville, of course, who takes his pills like a real trooper just to make the rest of us look bad. MOUSES!

I’m glad to hear that Gracie is eating a bit and alert. Those are good signs, for sure. She’s obviously in super good paws with the specialist. And I know that the rest of the gang is in super good care with you. Your babies are all in good paws.

Purrs are still being sent your way on a regular schedule and will continue to be sent for as long as everyone needs ’em. That’s a promise from me to you. A rock-solid, promise.

  4. KimT

Sounds like good news, all things considered! Of course, the pill-taking could go easier on you. Keeping the prayers and positive energy sent your way! Hugs

Alert sounds pretty darned good. So glad there is encouragement in the news about Gracie. Brian and Precious … please, please take those pills so you can get better, okay?

Purrs and prayers for you all — kitties and humans alike — and much love, too.

  6. Caren Gittleman

I so wish I could be there to help you and Mom out with the kitties. With all you are going through it is beyond kind of you to be thinking of ALL OF US……..we are coming together and purring and praying with all of our might!

  7. KitKat

Glad to hear Gracie is improving. Hope Brian and his sisters improve as well. We are still praying and purring for the whole gang.
So sorry you, as parents, are stressed out. Hugs!

LOL Terry aren’t cats the living end?? Nylablue likes Pill Pockets til I put a pill in them too…so I have to take her to Vet & he shoves the pill down her throat. There really is an easier way…..apparently she likes to do things the hard way…
I am relieved that Gracie is showing some improvement!! I hope Precious & Brian continue to improve also…
Nylablue goes back to Vet tomorrow. The Herpes Virus is wreaking havoc with her. I am so weary; as I am sure she is too…I will check in tomorrow to see how the kitties are doing….I sent many WP & FB an email to let them know like you I am only posting updates & not much else. I empathize with the burnout you are feeling….we just have to take things one day at a time!

Sounds like Gracie is doing well, everything considered. I hope it won’t be long before she’s back in your loving arms.

And I hope those other two snot rags stop sneezing very soon, too.

I’ll be keepin’ my paws crossed for everyone, and I loves the pill pockets too! I do good with the benadryl inside, butts give me some of that metronidazole, and count me OUT! BOL
Then Ma just shoves it down my throat with yummy chicken afterwards! I just like bein’ difficult!
    POTP to all of you!

Brian! Me and The Ape have just caught up on what an awful time you have been having. We hope that Sister Gracie is on the home stretch of recovery now and that you all get over this horrid virus soonest. Dad Terry, we are sending you extra purrs because you must be exhausted and we hope that you too can get some rest as your family recovers. This must have been a very frightening time for you all

Hi Brian, sending you a giant box of HUGS. Sorry your all going thru your illnesses. Sounds like your mom is doing a wonderful job nursing you all. I didn’t know you had so many serious things happening. Sending you love and hugs buddy. Keep fighting to get well cause you still have lots of games to play yet. Love you buddy, Pepi & mum Michele. (((HUGS))) XXXX :=o)

  19. Marg

Good to hear that she isn’t any worse. She must be doing all right if they are taking her off the oxygen. We just know she is going to be all right. Sending tons of purrs and prayers from here. We all have our paws crossed too. Take care.

  20. Hilary

Thank goodness that Gracie is holding her own and seems to be the model patient. She is a tough lady and she is making sure to do everything in her power to help herself heal…. Poor Brian and the pill debacle… It is funny, I am not surprised that Precious was easy to give the pill to… Sometimes they surprise you.. the more they fight you under normal conditions they more they comply when they know that you are helping them… I will never forget how Alex just let me hand him over to the pretty girl in the specialist vet to have his tail amputated… He never let anyone but me or marc hold him.

Marc, Lucy, me and especially Alex are purring like mad for all the Frum’s fur babies and their awesome parents!

  21. Timmy Tomcat

No cat here will take a pill except Mr Buttons who learned how early on with lots of chick-hen. Dad always gets liquid if we need medication as the fight wears us all out.
We will keep the purrs coming for all and a bit extra for Gracie.
Hey we love Pill Pockets too. Without the pill of course
    Timmy, Dad and family

  22. Selina

We are SO thinking of you. A good report on Gracie … it’s just going to take time with that. I hope she keeps on pushing & fighting! Give Brian and Precious big snuggles from me!

    Laura & Selina
