Adopt handsome Jeff!

Today is National Dog Fighting Awareness Day and I sure hope we all do our part to help end this evil practice.  When you hear the words “dog fighting” lots of us will immediately think of Michael Vick, someone whom we will never forgive for the terrible things he has done to dogs.  However, there are many, many more evil humans like him out there.

We live in South Carolina, and trust me, the anti-dog fighting laws here are a real joke. The punishment is a $5000 fine OR 5 years in prison.  The word OR is the key word…and remember, the devil is in the details.  The $5000 and 5 years is for a conviction on a third offense.  First time offenders are only subject to a $500 fine OR 6 months in jail.  Usually they plea bargain this away.  We are not surprised by this since we live here. Honestly, the law is a joke and so are our South Carolina legislators.  They like to talk a good game, but they are all talk and no action.

We need to all help to stop this madness and insist that mandatory punishment be something designed to actually punish the offenders and send a strong message that this kind of activity will not be tolerated, ever!

That brings me to Jeff, remember Jeff?  He is the wonderful and most handsome Pittie at the top of this post.  In case you’ve forgotten, here he is again.

Jeff needs a home, please adopt!

Here’s what the rescue has to say about handsome Jeff:

Jeff is a sweet and submissive young boy. He gets along very well with our dogs here and has no issues at all being handled. He is learning basic leash manners, he is crate trained, housebroke, and has good manners. He is missing an ear, don’t tell him that because he really could care less. He is heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations. He would be perfect for just about any situation.

You can see Jeff on his Petfinder.com page: HERE.

Definitely a joke and breaks my heart. The laws here in MO are not much better. Jeff is a beautiful boy and you know I’ll be sharing.

  2. Pat Hatt

Full of hot air is all the law makers are it seems, need to be as strict as they can be and pitch the dog fighters in the sea.

Aw, Jeff is a cutie! Hope he gets a home soon!
People who think it’s entertaining to watch two naturally sweet animals fight are just sick in the head! Watch people boxing instead, idiots, at least the participants there have the choice to fight or not!

Jeff, I wish you will find a home soon. I know it is not easy, but I cross my paws for you, as hard as I can and I hope a lot of people will see your picture and maybe there is the ONE who is the perfect match for you.

  7. Tamago

Dog fighting is really a horrible thing and must be stopped.
Jeff is so adorable and I hope he will find his forever home soon!

We don’t understand how anyone could enjoy dog fights or how anyone could perpetuate them either. What an ugly thing to engage in.

I had hoped dog fighting had been eliminated. Sadly to report, a week ago someone was arrested right here in our state for hosting dog fighting. Unfortunately, the punishment is never severe enough.

He is such a handsome boy. I agree with most of you about tougher laws against dog fights. It’s a very cruel practice that needs to be punished as hard as it’s possible to stop these ignorants of hurting sweet babies like Jeff.

    Our best wishes for him.

Brian we wish Jeff the best of luck in finding his new home..dog fighting cock fighting all still happen and are the basest of despicable behaviours humans can exhibit….sickens us to the pit of our stomachs..mandatory jail terms should be introduced! hug Fozzemum xxx

Jeff is such a handsome guy! I really don’t get dog fighting… it just seems so stupid. But then again there are so many stupid peeps out there. When I rescued Shiner from an alley, I heard a rumor that they were going to train her to be a fighting dog. Sure glad she came to live with me instead!

Ugh – that’s really frustrating! And being that dogfighting is even more prevalent in the south is upsetting. Anyways, thanks for sharing Jeff – crossing our paws and fingers that his perfect family finds him! I’ll share him now : )

Sorry your SC laws are such a joke. Hope Jeff gets a good and loving home. He certainly is a handsome guy, even without an ear. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Dog fighting is horrific and not by any definition a “sport.” Here in NM, we too, battle that macho warrior subculture that thinks the last one standing is somehow the “best.” It makes us all sick and we work hard to support every step toward ending this nightmare. As for Michael Vick, that arrogant mass murder is neither repentant nor deserves the opportunity to gain wealth and celebrity. He should be chewed to pieces and left for dead…like he did to so many.
