I thought I’d give you a quick update of the sickly crew here. Sister Zoe is doing really well but Sister Sascha has a little ways to go yet, but she is a lot better than she was when this stuff started. That got me thinking though, which is always interesting and sometimes scary.
Medicine, pills mostly, is not an unusual thing around these parts. I take some meds to keep my UTIs at bay. Gracie takes a low dose of antihistamine daily. Zoe takes ½ a pill every day to fight off her itchies. Kit takes a pill every other day to help her with her asthma. Yes, Gracie and Kit both have asthma. Now, recently, Sascha and Zoe have been getting antibiotic pills every single day. You might find this amazing, but we are all good at taking our pills. Sister Precious takes pills easily too. Our Dad, who is our Medicine Man, says we are real champs when it comes to taking pills.
The hard part is catching us! We know “when it’s time” and we can run like the wind and hide under the bed before you know it. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Dad and Mom are pretty clever about varying the “time” just enough to catch us off guard. Once we’ve been had, Mom holds us and Dad gives us our pills. No fuss, no muss. Seriously, we really are that good at taking our pills. Even eye drops and ear drops are no problem. I’m even real good when Dad has to give me fluids.
So today, I am thankful that our Medicine Man knows how to give us pills when we need them. Of course being held by the Medicine Mom is always a bonus anyways! What about you, do you mind the medicine thing???
Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
I have to take pills every day too and I hate it! Even worse, I get NO clue as to when it’s gonna happen. My human sneaks up on me and doses me. You want to hear something really disgusting? Binga has to take a dropper of lactulose every day – and I think she believes it is a treat! My human just grabs her head before mealtimes and squirts it into her cheek pocket! She doesn’t even have to restrain her. She thinks that anything that goes in her mouth is good.
Bravo to Medicine Man and we know how stressful it can be trying to make anipals take their pills. Glad mum and dad have it sorted.
Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Tama-Chan and Da Beebs are both easy to pill (like mother, like son!). Sei-Chan is a real challenge to catch. As for Da Genj, he is a little wriggling, wiggling, jaw-clenching terror!!!
Purrs,
The Chans
Would you believe the easiest of us to pill is TUTU? Next would be Cosmo. The worst, by far is Boomer, much to Mommy’s surprise as he has such an easy going nature. Actually, Mommy thinks Boomer and Ling tie for being the worst.
It’s been a long time since Mommy had to pill Meow-Me, Coco or Felix but she has a feeling Coco will be very difficult as she tends to behave like a feral. Whisky is not fond of the meds she need to take but is a good girl about it. 🙂
Oh you kitties are so lucky to have such a great Mom and Dad that are so good to make sure all of you get your medicines. Our Mom is pretty good at giving pills to us and we know how to hide too. All you kitties have such a good home. Hope you all have a great day. Take care.
We must be really lucky as we’ve never had a cat that had to take pills on a regular basis. (That cartoon about “How to Give a Cat a Pill — https://www.nanceestar.com/CatPill.html) pretty much sums up our past experiences.
you guys are so lucky to have such an amazing medicine man and woman… Purring you all feel better soon
It’s a good thing you have such loving parents to catch you and keep you on your medicines. Sister Zoe, keep up the progress. Sister Sascha, catch up to Sister Zoe!
A good medecine-man is the best what can happen to doggies and kitties. I hope the medecine of the medecine-man will help you to feel better soon.
We’re glad your sisters are good pill takers and are doing well, but Mum is so jealous that they take them so easily. We are lucky as we don’t often have to take pills but when Mum wants to put that nasty flea and worm treatment (as we go outside) on the back of our necks her friend has to come as Mum can’t wrap us in a towel (so she has skin left), part our fur, and hold us tight while she squeezes the tubes to get the liquid on our skin so Jenny puts the drops on the… Read more »
Brian your medicine man is doing a great job..our girls are pills at taking pills…the pups pffft piece of cake! or cheese…or meat..or hahahaha 🙂 hope your house is sickie free soon hugs Fozziemum xx
We are hoping that Sister Sascha is feeling better in no time! You are a smart Daddy! I am super, super good about taking pills, I never run away! Mom also varies my time (just to be safe), but she sings this song that drives me crazy…she sings “It’s medicine time, medicine time, doo doo doo doo doo doo dooooo, Medicine Time!” I think I am always in such shock at her bad singing that I forget to run!!!! Love, Cody
Sooo furry thankful that you all are furry good kids and take your meds. We ams purring that you won’t have to always takes pills tho…
Us kits here are furry bads at taking pills… so you guys am furry blessed.
If you haz time dear Brian between taking pills, plz stop by and help us find Lil Bears head. It am lost… We know it am sumwhere in Kansas… Purrz, Lu Lu Gurl.
Sounds like a great game you guys play before pill time. Maybe you are allergic to your mom and dad?
dood…tell zoe & sascha they knead ta double up on ther trout intake 🙂
N we compare takin pillz with……. BURD watchin….
Wow, you guys must make the local pharmacy jealous with all those pills lol The cat takes them once caught too, Cassie though, she holds it in her mouth for a good half an hour before swallowing, if she is let go, she spits it out and walks away
We have to be tricked into getting our meds! You guys are lucky to do it the normal way. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!
MOL Brian ‘catch me if you can said the gingerbread man!”
My heartworm med gets broken up in my kibble…supposedly “most cats”…eat it like a treat from the hand…but as I told mom many times I am not “most cats”!!
Bravo to all of you for being good about you meds after Dad gets his morning run in!
Hugs
Madi your bfff
Wow! The Medicine Man is really busy! Our mom squeezes us between her legs with us facing away from her. We can’t move! Then she pulls our mouth open from behind and down the pill goes. She strokes our throat until we swallow and it’s over in seconds she’s so fast.
You are so lucky to have a good medicine man around!! WE don’t and if the cat doesn’t want it the cat doesn’t take it here!! Happy was with us for 17 years and lived to be 21 or 22 says the vets and she, for years wouldn’t take any meds and we would have to go to the vets for them to give her the pills or what she needed. Then when she was about 19 she did a turn-around!! And from that time on both Tom and I could give her what ever she needed. ???????
Snafu is the only one who gets pills daily. He is very good at getting his pills too and we know we are lucky. He gets his pill through a pill gun, which makes it super easy. The best part is Snafu will jump on the table to get his pill and right after his pill, he gets his breakfast. Pills always come with treats so we’ve had no problem giving them.
Glad everyone is on the mend!

M & D have to be sneaky with me too. Once they capture me, I’m good about it, but I always know when they are going to do it. It kinda helps that they give me a treat right after and call me “Good Boy” and give me lots of pets.
An interesting story…keep taking your meds, kitties!
We have never had to give Millie any medication. Our Gracie used to have a chronic eye infection, and to this day she really hates to be picked up. And yet, she is very affectionate, and loves to snuggle…on her terms. 🙂
I used to take a statin every day for cholesterol control, but I started having a reaction to it, so I’m not taking it any more. The doctor says my cholesterol wasn’t really that bad.
You are all so lucky to have such a good Medicine Man. Mom says when she had to give Abby and Gracie medication it was very hard. it breaks her heart to remember and in the end it was an exercise in futility. Right now none of us has to take any medicines.
Well, Brian, we could definitely use the Medicine Man here. Ciara is good about taking her pills, Mom just wraps them in a small piece of deli turkey. But Phantom – he is almost impossible. Mom has to give him a huge glob of peanut butter on a little cookie and hope he swallows it whole. If he gets any inkling of a taste of meds, he spits it out and runs to hide. Mom has tried every tip she has ever gotten. he is just one tough boy!
Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
Mom is thankful our kitties don’t need medicine as they are real tough about taking anything like that.
Paws up to the medicine man for making it as stress-free as possible to get you the medicines you need.
My cats are pill fighters. Garfield had to have eye drops 3 times a day for almost a year and he was a trooper. Just every once in awhile he would really hold his eye shut. LOL. Maybe I should borrow your mom and dad for when we need some pills around here. They must have the magic touch.
I hope sisters Zoe and Sascha are soon feeling all better.
My mum used to be able to pill all the cats who came before without too much trouble. Eric was impossible to pill though, and I am not much better. Different vets and vet techs have all told mum they would show her how to do it (she used to work for a vet so had a lot of experience at it) but not a single one managed to get a pill into Eric and get it down. He was so placid for everything else.
Girls, I hope you get completely better! What in the world are you kitties having to go through this again for!? As for meds, Admiral said if it was in a pill pocket, OK, most of the time. *I* say I hate those things even though there are no pills in them. Mom just wanted me to get used to them. The heck with them. One mom has a hard time. She wishes someone was here to help with things like that, xox
Oh MY that is a lot of pills!!!
You are such good kitties and we are WAY impressed with your pill protocol. Medicine Man obviously has a golden touch.
Though I’m not a fan of pill popping, I’m MUCH more well mannered than Waffles.
: ) Katie
Wow, the medicine man must really have a magic touch! We are fortunate that our dogs are good about taking pills or getting ear/eye drops… but I always thought that cats hated pills more than dogs. I guess I was wrong!
The Human has had kitties who had maintenance meds and even a kitty she gave fluids to at home three times a week. She has been very successful.
She does not know what will happen if she ever has to pill me, though. I play hard to get when she just wants to PET me, fer-hevvin’s-sake!!!
Pill popping is an art and thank goodness you know how. I hope there will be less pills soon. I’m the piller in my house and Merlin is a sneaky one, hiding and spitting out later.
Well, it helps to have a good medicine giver! It can take a lot of practice, which it looks like your dad has plenty of. Shiner is easy to give medicine to because it usually involves food, which she likes to eat 🙂
Sounds like the biggest issue in your house is remembering who gets which pill. You’re all very good kitties to take your medicines so nicely.
nope I’m a fighter no way are you getting the disgusting gunk in me with out a fight, nip or scratch or two…hehehe,xx SPeedy
We iz happy Sister Zoey iz bettur n we keep purrayin fer Sister Sascha to improve too!!! As fer takin meddycahsun *hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha* (MOL) Me will NOT allow pills or syringez to bee given to me by Mum hence why me goez to da Vet weekly….Miss Terry da Vet Teck haz to burreeto rap me n she n Mum hold me firm fer da needlez…den dey have to ree-rap me so Dcoktur Dave can stuff da Miratzipine down me throat wif me whippin me head back n forth…me makez dem werk hard 😉 Me triez nott to fite butt me iz… Read more »
Luckily I don’t have to take anything. Unless the window is open, I don’t have any asthma symptoms. When I did have to take uncle biotics, Pop used to hold me while TW dosed me. No fun. Hope the sickies leave you guys for a long while.
