Mancat Monday: Battling with some ants plus an award from Tuiren

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!
Dang, our May is off to a busy start and the spring time pests are all out n’ about.  It is the time of the year when it starts getting warmer and those pesky ants seem to want to move in with us where it’s cooler.  So, Dad has his battle gear ready, which is the Dyson and some pet-safe bug spray.  I told him to call the AntBusters, but no, he seems to like to fight them himself.

Not only have those pesky critters been peskying us, they are also after the outside feral food in their feeding station.  Dad was out there yesterday giving the feeding station a good cleaning.  We hope that works so the ferals won’t have to eat around those ants. They are sure one big pain in the furry butt!

Other than that, I do want to thank my sweet friend Tuiren from Alasandra,The Cats & Dogs for sharing the Yoo-Hoo Award with us.

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!

Tuiren is such a cutie and we are so happy that my sweetie Scylla and the crew gave Tuiren a most wonderful home.

I hope you have a most wonderful week.  Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

We have a ridiculous ant problem here, and the moment they start rearing their little heads this season, my human is calling the ant human! She’s done with trying to get rid of them herself.

The thought of ants makes our Mum feel all itchy so she hopes you will beat the battle with them.

Eww that ants can be horrible. Mom made lines with baking soda around my crib to keep them away ( and it looked like the crib of a drug lord for a while). Maybe such an anteater guy would be the perfect addition for Casa Brian?

Your daddy is so brave to fight off those pesky ants! When Mom fed the ferals at her work, in ant “season” she’d keep the food bowls in a small tray with sides filled with water because the ants would drown trying to get to the food.

Oh Brian, we feel your pain. We are in the middle of our own ant invasion over here. Ma is like a lunatic with the pet-friendly pest destroyer but those ants are resilient! More power to us…down with the ants!

we don’t have any ants here to contend with, just slugs and earwigs. I wonder if diatomaceous earth works for ants? The food grade stuff is safe for cats but takes care of the slugs, earwigs and fleas, maybe it would work for the ants as well. I apply it liberally around the feral feeder and under the bedding in the feral houses. Good luck!!

Congrats on your award!!

Those ants sure are pesky! We had to put up with them when we lived in first floor apartments. Hopefully they won’t make their way to us this year since we are on the 11th floor, MOL!!

We hate those aggravating ants too! They mess things up outside, and mess things up even worse inside! We are going to declare your Dad the Ant Warrior!
Hugs to all of you 🙂

We sympathize! Those pesty ants got off to an early start this year. The mom had to spray around the house a couple times. They aren’t in the kitchen anymore, but yesterday they bypassed the kitchen and turned up in her bedroom, on the 2nd floor!

We occasionally get ant invasions and they are very annoying indeed. We have used the Dyson in the past but our big (newer!) Dyson no longer has any sucking power. #1 says she would love to get her paws on Mr. Dyson and his ongoing claims that his machines never lose sucking power!

That’s something the peeps don’t miss about their house—the ants. Every Spring they’d invade. One year Nicky even even brought them on TW’s bed. Ick! Hope your Dad stays one step ahead of them. They do have protein for the outside cats. MOL.

Hey Brian we can truly sympathize, Mom is battling slug.
She’s have a Slug fest with beer traps. Yep she’s making those slimy critters very happy until they drown themselves literally in the beer trap.

Hey Brian I wonder if your Dad’s Dyson will work on the Carpenter Bees drilling holes in the wood frame around the 2nd story of our house? Critters return each year and they are so high we cannot get to them
Hugs madi your bfff and good luck

They are starting to show up here. It’s a battle for us every year too. Mostly with the sugar ants, but sometimes those fire ants come inside too. I just read something about using grits to get rid of them, but don’t remember what exactly.

Ants can get real nasty. We had some outside two years ago that were making a mess, but usually we don’t have any…thankfully no ants in our pants either!

Sometimes, Cats Herd You

We’re starting to see ants here, too. It has been rainy, and they seem to want to come in to keep their feet dry. The head peep is trying diatomaceous earth on them to see if it works.

Oh no you reminded the humans about that pesky problem. So far they have not shown up yet, but oh boy what a headache they are to the humans, pretty soon the human dad would be screaming about the house again 🙂

Ants are such an annoyance. Luckily we’ve never had them in the house, but I can imagine the outdoor food is a big attractant to them. Hopefully you can find a way to keep them out of the feeding station.
