Before I start, I just want to mention that we crossed over the 7,000 post mark over at our ForeverHomeWanted.com blog. Thanks for making this such a hugh success for us, the traffic is amazing.
You all know how much I love adoptions, in fact adoption is one of my most favorite words ever! June is adopt a cat month and I would not want to miss an opportunity to to get my two cents in, so of course I will do just that.
According to the APPA, there are over 95 million owned cats in the United States today. Of these cats, only 33 percent were adopted from a shelter or rescue group. And, throughout the month of June, thousands of additional cats will enter shelters across the United States.
The Shelter Pet Project—a collaborative effort between The Humane Society of the United States, Maddie’s Fund®, and the leading producer of public service advertising (PSA) campaigns, The Ad Council—aims to help shelter cats and dogs find loving homes. This month, we’re celebrating Adopt-a-Cat Month with our radio, TV, out-of-home and interactive PSAs that will melt your heart. The PSAs encourage viewers to interact with real shelter pets, highlighting that the only way to find out how amazing shelter pets really are is to meet one.
So, go on over and ”meet” Smokey Joe, Meow Man and their other feline friends as they show off their winning personalities. You can also get to know Stetson, Maui, and Puma through the Shelter Pet Project’s new online experience.
At theshelterpetproject.org/meet the cats respond to the click of a mouse and to the touch of your finger, letting you recreate the experience of playing with a real-life, purring, pawing cat. If you like the cats in these PSAs, help by sharing them with the world. You can download all of their ads for free. Pick your favorite cat and feature it on your blog and social media channels.

That is so exciting that you have so much traffic to your other site to help rescue the cats. We will check all this other stuff out a little later and try to advertise some of the cats or dogs. It all sounds like such a great project and hope that lots of the animals find homes.

I always learn new animal rescue information from you Brian. I had no idea about this project but will be meeting with my former shelter today and will ask if they participate beyond involvement in Maddie’s Fund event.

Mom has adopted eleven cats in her life so far…personally I think that is plenty, but I have a feeling when this set is old and gone, she will adopt even more of the feline species. As long as they don’t bother me too much, I’m okay with cats.
Oh the dear babies there. I wish I could have them all, but that of course cannot happen. All of my kitties have been shelter babies.

This is a great project! And from what momma has read is proving to be pretty darn successful! Here’s to the day when these campaigns won’t be needed because every kitty and dog will be wanted and have a safe, loving home.
