First let me say that we’re sorry for the not-so-good quality of the photos. The only thing we really had available was our cell phone camera in often low light places.
As you can see, there was a last minute change in plans and Flat Brian did get to go to the Purina Better with Pets Summit in NYC. Actually, there were lots of changes in plans this trip.
Let me say that the Summit, what we saw of it, was totally terrific and we want to give a special meow-out to Dan and William from Purina for such a wonderful event and for their concern for our Dad. Okay, lots have posted about the Summit, so ours is a bit different.
The morning of the Summit, my Dad and a blogger pal Jaimie from ThoughtsFurPaws.com boarded the shuttle bus at the hotel to head to the event. We are not going to disclose too many details here, but let’s just say that Dad had a medical incident with resulted in a call to 911 and an ambulance showing up. Dad was carted off to the NYU Hospital where he had all kinds of tests, lots and lots of tests. Not to worry, he is okay now, but we will say it was not a whole lot of fun. The FDNY EMTs were wonderful and very caring.
This is our Dad and our blogging pal Jaimie. Jaimie went in the ambulance to the hospital with our Dad, even though it meant she missed the morning sessions of the Summit. Thank you so much Jaimie for being such a terrific friend and we appreciate you to no end!
In the afternoon we did get to see many of the Summit sessions and they were totally awesome and inspirational. There were lots of bloggers that we knew there and it was so nice to see them again, even with some unusual circumstances. We were delighted to finally meet up with Layla from CatWisdom101.com and we wish we would have had more time to chat with her.
Then we were thrilled to finally meet Hilary from FeelingBeachie.com and many of you know that she is Angel Alex’s Mom as well as Sister Gracie’s Mother-In-Law. Flat Brian was so happy to get a Hilary Snuggle!
Dad and Hilary had such a fun time chatting and we are so happy that we all got to met such a wonderful lady and terrific author.
All in all it was a great even, just not quite what we envisioned when we left home. But we are thankful for the Purina staff, blogging pals, Jaimie, Hilary and everyone else that help to make a weird day very special for us.
Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
Well, that sounds a little scary! Glad your dad is OK now and that everything turned out OK. Looks like he had a nice time despite the emergency.
My human and I are so glad you are okay! We had no idea this had happened. And how awesome of Jaimie to accompany you – she is just a great person. My human is still sad she had to miss it.
Oh no poor daddy but glad everything was OK and he got to go and have a great time. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly.
Brian, your dad really gave us a fright! But nothing can hold him down! I can’t even begin to express how many emotions I felt when I saw him for the first time…. Over the years I never thought I’d get to meet him in real life. But man, am I glad that I did! He is even more amazing in person than he is online. A true friend and hero to many. I hated that the conference ended. I could have chatted with him and Jamie for hours!
Thanks COD ! Your dad is o.k.
And kudos to Jaimie ! She rock !

Brian, I am very very grateful that your dad is alright! I can imagine how scary that had to have been for him and how wonderful that someone went with him to the hospital. Purrs and racers for his continued recovery,. xxoo
How scary to have that happen away from home! My Gramma has been having heart issues and has landed in the ER twice this month, so we have an inkling as to the scariness of it all. Hope you will be fine.

Did you know that Jaimie is my BFF? I think you do!I met her at the first Purina event when they brought all of the bloggers there. When I heard what happened, at first I didn’t know who it was, when I heard it was you, I was terrified. I am so thankful that you are ok!!!! Had I been there you KNOW you would have had another buddy there with ya too!! I am BEYOND upset that I didn’t get to meet Hilary! UGH!!! Originally when Purina invited me, I thought I wasn’t permitted to go (contract) so I… Read more »

Brian, we’re so glad your dad is okay. That musta been so scary! But thank cod he was well taken care of…and Jaimie was there to lend support. That was very nice of her.
First of all, we’re glad your dad is ok.
Sounds like you had a great time at the conference despite the little “detour”. We read that they also had a session or display about human shelters for victims escaping domestic violence that allowed the women to bring their pets. We thought that was very special and hope more shelters like that are available in the future.
Wow! We are really glad to hear your dad is OK!
