Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!

Well, here I am again and I really didn’t think it was my turn, but Brian tells me otherwise. Brian picked out this photo of me because he said I look nice and happy in this sunpuddle. It is a pretty good photo because my furs don’t really look all that good.

I know you know that I’ve had a rough time of it and I’m more than happy to see 2014 go bye-bye.  But there is some good news, I’m eating well and have even gained a little bit of weight.  I was, at one time, down from 11.2 pounds to 7.2 pounds.  Now, I’m up to 8.3 pounds and that’s probably because I’ve been eating well since I had three bad teeth taken out.  My glucose levels are holding just fine in the normal range and I’ve not had an insulin shot since I came home from the hospital.  Now we’re going to tackle some of my CKD issues.

But, all is not purrfect, I’ve started pulling out my furs again, which isn’t making Dad and Mom very happy. We thought I might be allergic to chicken flavor foods.  Dad has taken me off of all chicken type food but after a week with no chicken food I’m still licking and pulling my furs..  I sure don’t want to have my belly cut open again.

So, that’s what is going on with me and I really hope things are going good for each of you. I shall see you all again soon.  Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

You are looking very lovely in that photo, Zoe, and we are so glad you are gaining weight!

Our friend San over at Cat Tales has a kitty with an ongoing fur-pulling problem. She has recently been trying acupuncture on her and it seems to be giving good results.

Oh Sister Zoe, please don’t get another fur ball 🙁 Hope that your Dad can work with the V.E.T. to get things figured out and get you settled so you don’t. POPT that you don’t get back into that spiral again sweet girl.

Zoe, you look beautiful and I wouldn’t have thought your furs didn’t look perfect if you hadn’t mentioned it. A few strokes of a brush and you’d be extra gorgeous with your sliver furs glimmering in the sun.
I’m so glad your glucose levels are good. Now if the humans could just figure out those darn allergies so you don’t pull out your furs. Maybe a fur trim (just a trim down to an inch or so, not a shave) would help prevent you from ingesting too much fur and getting it all tangled up inside. I know that wouldn’t be fun, but it would be much better than another surgery.

  16. Caren Gittleman

Oh No Sister Zoe! Pls don’t pull your fur!! I am super happy you are eating well, but you look soooooooo beautiful with your luxurious fur that I sure don’t want you to pull it!!! Wish I were there to give you a BIG KISS! Love, Cody

  17. madi and mom

my peeps went on a 1/2 a day jaunt today…we are so late but mom will explain it tomorrow.
    Hugs madi your bfff

Aw, poor Zoe. Maybe it takes more than 1 week to get through your system? Most food has chicken meal, chicken broth or by-products in it. My cousin Shamrock was allergic to chicken and Aunt Pauline had to buy this expensive food at the vet that didn’t have any chicken snuck in it.

  19. The Island Cats

Zoe, we think you look beautiful in that picture. We’re sorry to hear you’re pulling your furs again. We hope your peeps can figure out what might be bothering you and making you do that.

  20. Tamago

Sister Zoe, you are looking beautiful there! It’s great you’ve been eating better, but we are worried that you are pulling your fur again. We sure don’t want you to go through surgery again.

  21. Smokey8 Pino

Sweetest Zoe, I do hope keep getting better. Sending you healing energy and try not to pull your fur. Purrs

  22. John Bellen

That was a lot of weight to lose, Zoe, so I’m glad you are starting to regain some of it. I’m sure your mum and dad will be able to solve your fur-pulling problem. But if it isn’t one thing, it’s another, isn’t it, poor girl?

  23. Fur Everywhere

Hi Zoe! We are so glad to hear that you have put on a little weight! Keep that eating up, okay?

The Mom here: Our childhood kitty had severe allergy problems, too. The vet ended up giving Kitty (yes, that was her name) some type of allergy shots to help her from pulling out her furs. I had moved away for graduate school by that point, but I could ask my sister if she knows what kind of shots they were if you want.

Also, I know each cat is individual and that Zoe has issues complicating her CKD, but I am *always* available if you want to ask me/talk about anything related to the CRF. I am not an “expert” but I’m more than happy to share what did and did not work where Jewel is concerned. I’d like our experience to be able to help our friends if at all possible.

Hugs and purrs from all of us to all of you!

  24. Sherri-Ellen T-D.

Oh Zoe you look lovely in this photo. I am concerned about you pulling out your fur again little darling. I hope Dad & Mom can figure out why you are doing this & remedy it..no more surgery! Fingers crossed. Have I ever told you how much you remind me of my first cat Simpson?? So I have a HUGE soft spot for you.
I shall include you in my prayers.
With love, Sherri-Ellen & Siddhartha (the Sleepy) x0x0x0x0x0x0

Zoe, this is so distressing. I hope that you figure out the fur issue. Good job with putting on some weight. You are in my thoughts little girl.
