Today we want to wish our Sister Kit a very Happy Gotcha Day. While it may not be her original Gotcha Day, it is the Gotcha Day for when she came to live with us.
If you’re new to our blog then purrhaps you don’t know Sister Kit’s story. Sister Kit lived in an apartment complex where our Grandma lived. Mom and Dad used to see Kit sitting in the window looking out and would always wave to her. One day when Mom and Dad went to visit our Grandma they noticed that the blinds were missing and it appeared the Kit and her family moved away.
A few days later Mom saw Kit outside, alone. She had been left behind. She eventually came to our Grandma’s deck and that’s when Dad noticed that she didn’t have any front claws. So not only was she left behind, she had no way to protect herself. Our Mom was determined to rescue her, so food went out and hopes went up. It took weeks, but the Mom was able to capture her. Off to the Vet she went, she was a mess, and totally infested with fleas. She was itching so bad she likely chewed off part of her lower lip.
After several days at the Vet she came back and moved in with our Grandma, who loved Kit very, very much. Sister Kit made the move to an assisted living facility with our Grandma and she adapted pretty well. Two years ago our loving Grandma went to live in heaven and Sister Kit came to live with us. Although she was scared at first, she did adapt quickly to life in a multi-cat household.
Sister Kit is very loved and is very loving. She loves to snuggle, be loved on, and purrs big time. Sister Kit is home forever. So, I’m going to throw in my T.G.I.F. for good measure, just for Sister Kit. This Gotcha Is Forever!

Happy New Year to all of you. We are late catching up… We all slept really late.
I didn’t know all of Kit’s story – I knew she lived with your grandma, but didn’t know she had been abandoned before that. I’m so glad she is with your family, and she’ll never have to worry about being abandoned again!

Happy Forever Gotcha, Kit! What a story, and how sad. We think that people who abandon pets when they move are the scum of the earth, whatever the circumstances. But Kit was lucky in her misfortune in that she found you and your Grandma. Forever happiness!

What a tragic story with a very happy ending! As for the claws thing, Mom had a cat growing up that had no front claws. Fluffy was the best hunter around, she climbed trees, beat up dogs, was the toughest cat in their ‘hood. So, missing the front claws is an awful thing, but it doesn’t mean they are always helpless. Congratulations to you Kit and super happy Gotcha Day!
I love this story (well, not really the first part but the happy ending part) and I love Kit. Poor thing really had a rough time before living with your grandma. If she was left behind, she probably wasn’t loved while living in that first home. She clearly had a loving home with your grandma and now with you all. I’m so glad she knows love now. We didn’t know Sister Kit’s story, so thank you for sharing it with us. How sad that someone left her behind when they moved, but it seems to have been for the best because she went on to find TWO homes that would love her forever. Happy Gotcha Day, Kit!!!
I knew most of Kit’s story but I missed the part about her lip… what a horrible story but what a wonderful happy ending! Happy gotcha day kit!

Kit we think you are about your squillion Gotcha Day! But that is good. We know you had a rough go there but you sure did find the best ever spot to land in a furever home. We didn’t know her story and what a tough time for Sister Kit to be abandoned by people she loved. How could they do that? We don’t understand people sometimes. But all’s well and she’s in a house that is full of love and snuggles, noms and nips and people who really care.

This is the first time we’ve heard Sister Kit’s story! What a sweet and special girl… we’re so glad your mom, dad and grandma rescued her. She may have had a rough start in life, but she’s living a life filled with love now. That makes us smile big!
