Mancat Monday: A Peemania Smackdown

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!
Okay, I really hate to jinx myself, but since several of you have asked how I’m doing, I thought I’d best give you an update.  All is good so far.

Tomorrow will be the 5 week mark without any major pee issues.  That’s the longest I’ve gone in quite a while so we’re all pretty happy about that one. I know my sisters are happy I’m not hogging the litter boxes.  I also know that my Mom and Dad are happy, and so am I for that matter.

There are some things that might have been overlooked, until Dad put his thinking cap on. A good while ago I was treated at the Emergency Center for severe constipation. Hmmmmm.  Purrhaps I wasn’t straining to pee at all and maybe I was straining to, well, you know.  All I could get out was little bits of pee.  Dad has been giving me regular doses of lactulose to keep me going steady and so far it seems to be working for me.  Is that it? We don’t know for sure, but it could be and time will tell.

I’m hopeful that this positive trend will continue.  Thanks for asking about me!!!  I hope you all have a fun and happy week.

Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

That’s wonderful news, Brian!! For a long time there, Carmine was struggling with constipation, too. I give him just a bit of plain pumpkin mixed into his wet dinner now daily, and he hasn’t had any constipation in weeks (*knocks on wood*). I’m glad the medicine is helping you!

Brian, we have our paws crossed that that was it! *** BTW, yesterday I noticed Nicki doing the the same thing late in the day, in and out of the litter box a few times with nothing coming out. I knew it wasn’t a pee issue, as he’d peed a few times through the day, so thought of constipation, thanks to you. Then I realized he hadn’t done his business in over two days (I keep track because I’m neurotic and obsessed), so was panicking he would need a vet appt. I do have some Restoralax (Miralax) on hand, bought… Read more »

The constipation could be it, as the cat will drop some tiny bit of pee and then be on his way when he can’t go.

I had a cat with constipation problems and I put 1/8 tsp of Miralax in his food (soaked low-residue kibble mixed with some of his favorite canned food) twice a day to keep everything from getting hard. It worked well for him right up until he got pancreatitis and couldn’t recover from it.

Brian
Abby had a problem with bowel issues, mostly constipation and Mom found that pumpkin and organic slippery elm mixed down in her food everyday kept her unclogged and all her problems went away. It was wonderful!
We are so glad you’re doing so well.

Brian, our Freckles had the same kid of backed-up issue and had to stay overnight at the vets. We had to take away all hard food and now canned food only for him, We were suppose to give him Lactulose 2x a day as well –forever, but that sticky stuff is a PAIN. He now takes a Colace 50m gel cap per day (CVS over the counter) and has not had a poop problem since November. The Colace is so much easier.

(((hugging))) Brian & kissing the top of his head!
Hi Brian Sherri-Ellen here & I am so-o releived all is well with you. I had no idea Lactulose can be used for felines. I have only used PetroMalt or Laxatone specific cat laxatives…mind you once Nylablue got IBD I was using Kaopectate to *ahem* slow things down…
Keep well little friend. You mean the world to me & so many in the blog world.
Love Sherri-Ellen & Siddhartha Henry =^,.^=
