A Quick Update On Sister Precious

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!

Several of you asked how Precious is doing and I had posted an update on Facebook a couple of days ago.  If you saw this on Facebook, most of this will be a rerun.  I will give you a quick recap.  She has lost a lot of weight and had been battling diarrhea for a while.  She was not eating much so off to the Vet she went.  She was jaundice and was running a mild fever. First step, bloodwork. Her is what our Vet said about her bloodwork…

“Bloodwork showed elevated liver enzymes as well as hyperthyroidism. She really needs an abdominal ultrasound & biopsies to see what’s going on. The hyperthyroidism can cause liver issues but I have never seen it cause jaundice & her thyroid levels were not that high”.

She had fluids, b12, penicillin shot. Is now on amoxicillin.

So, her liver enzymes were elevated and so were her thyroid levels.  Not all that bad though.  She has been on the amoxicillin since Monday.  She is eating quite well now and her diarrhea is gone.  It looks to me like the yellowness around the whites of her eyes is clearing up.

Anyways, I still need to schedule the ultrasound even though I have put it off since she is acting normal.  I will likely have to do a fundraiser to help pay that bill.  The bills from Gracie, Zoe and Brian makes things awfully tight, but I know y’all can sure relate.

Keep the purrs and prayers coming.  We appreciate them!

Dad Terry

It seems like there is always something to deal with. But at least it must be somewhat of a good sign that Precious is responding to the treatment. We hope things continue to improve and the ultrasound is unnecessary. All paws crossed. Thanks for the update – Mom won’t do FB.

Terry, I’ve been out of the loop, didn’t realize Precious was having health woes. Lots of universal Light to her from me, and tons and tons of purrs from the boys. I’m glad she’s doing better now, fingers crossed (and paws too) going forward.

Glad she is acting normal once again and seems better. Those ultrasounds aren’t cheap indeed, and at least she’s eating, don’t want to go the food tube route.
