Thankful Thursday: Happy Gotcha Day to the Fabulous Sister Sascha

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!

We always have quite a few new readers so I am going to give a quick Gotcha summary on how Sister Sascha came to live here.  Many of you already know her story, so thanks for your patience while we bring our new readers up to date.

Dad and Mom were out shopping on a pretty cold winter Saturday morning. They stopped by PetSmart to pick up some food and the lady from Kitten Action Team said for them to come in the back and look what she had.

Well, when they went in the back there were two kitties who had been left out front of PetSmart all night in the bitter cold. They were in one carrier together. Sister Sascha was one of them and her sister, a gorgeous long hair calico, was with her. The sister tested positive for FIV but was adopted immediately by someone at PetSmart. Of course, Dad and Mom said the blond one was coming home with them.

Can you imagine how scared those two girls were sitting in a carrier outside all night in the cold.  While I immediately accepted Sascha, she was not too sure about me for a long while.  Later on, when Sisters Gracie and Zoe came to live with us, Sister Gracie adopted Sascha, protected her, and helped bring her out of her shell.  Sister Gracie would sit and guard Sascha’s back will she would eat.  If it weren’t for Sister Gracie, Sister Sascha might have been keeping to herself for a long while.

Happy Gotcha Day Sister Sascha, we all love you and we’re super thankful that you are a part of our family!

Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Our Gracie is home now and she does not have an infection. However, she was forming crystals in her urine, Crystalluria. We got some Royal Canin Urinary SO cat food from the veterinary clinic. Gracie seems to be feeling fine. She did scold us for a while 🙂 We set out a small bowl of the new food to see what would happen, and Millie was the first one to try it. She seems to like it! Gracie eventually had a good helping of the food. Because of the difficulties involved in trying to feed different things to two cats, we may have to simply feed both Gracie and Millie the urinary cat food, even though it costs more. Both cats are now in their “extended afternoon nap” mode.

The kitties’ regular vet was not available, so the younger vet who bought the practice a few years ago saw Gracie. We were very favorably impressed with him, so when our regular vet retires, as we expect him to do before long, we will not hesitate to bring Gracie to the vet who saw her for the urinary problem.
