Thankful Thursday: Urban Resource Institute Domestic Violence Shelter Follow Up

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!

Last week I posted about the Purina Domestic Violence Shelter Dog Park Dedication in conjunction with the Urban Resource Institute in New York.  I really enjoyed all of your comments on this wonderful project.  Yes, we all hope this is a growing trend that catches on quickly.

As a follow up, I wanted to share with you this very powerful video featuring a woman and her two dogs who escaped from domestic violence and found safety and comfort at the Urban Resource Institute.

We are so thankful that the bond between humans and pets is being considered is cases like these and it is so important to keep the family together. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

That is such a great program. Pets are so important in our lives and especially the homeless people. We sure applaud that program. You all have a great day with hopefully no rain.

I’m glad there is a way and a place for those who have to bear domestic violence. I hope all peeps and pets are brave enough to look for help and to escape to a safe place…

Thank goodness there are places like this to help women who have dogs. A lot of places would just say, no, you’re not bringing the dog with you.

Mom would never ever leave us, so it is good to know for people who need such a shelter, they can take their dogs along.

That is such a great program. And it’s not only that the humans who escape the violence are able to keep their pets but also that those pets might have endured violence also and can now find a safe place.

I wish there were more of these everywhere, but they are off to a good start.

I’m so glad that programs are realizing how important peoples’ pets are to them. I know I’d never leave my pets behind, no matter what, and I’m sure that all your readers feel that way. That’s why programs like the one in the video are so important!

Brian, I’m not sure if that’s your “come hither” look, or if you’re just very relaxed.
Thanks for the follow-up video. Hopefully more resources like this become available to the people and pets who need them.

Thank you Brian for telling us about this. Mom said there should be more and more of those as violence in the home seems to be escalating greatly.
