Mancat Monday: Tech Woes and Blog No Goes

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it!
Dang, we had some tech challenges last week.  Sometime on Friday our blogs went down. We had a couple of brute force attacks going on which affected everything. That meant that not only could you not even load my blog, we couldn’t log in to resolve the situation either.  For those of you who are the techie types and use WordPress, the attacks were wp-login and xmlrpc related.

Thanks to our wonderful tech support team, the attacks were stopped and we’ve got some things in place that should help prevent them in the future.   I’m not going to share that information though because it is very geeky, plus we don’t want to give the evil ones a paw up on how to get around our security measures.

Hey, we don’t often visit our on blog though.  Do you visit yours?  We are going to visit ours more often just to make sure it is working.  But I do need a favor.  If you try to visit and can’t, please email me or post me a message on Facebook or Twitter.  Even if it is working but you can’t comment, please let me know. Chances are I might not know that things aren’t working.

Well, that’s enough for Monday.  Wait until you see the cuddle kitty I’m sharing on #OptToAdopt day tomorrow.  Have fun everyone! Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Yikes! Blog attacks? Sounds scary to us! We’re glad things are sorted out now, though.

Our biped does visit her (personal) blog every time she posts — it’s good to check. But she doesn’t do anything with OUR blog anymore (which isn’t right, but that’s another story).

  2. Marg

I missed it all too. But we sure are glad you got it all fixed. That is terrific that there was someone that could fix it. Hope you don’t have any more trouble. Brrrrrrrrrr here. Hope you all are staying warm.

  3. Sammy

Thank heavens for computer geeks who know how to “fix” stuff because my Mom is hopeless in that department………….!!

    Hugs, sam

I hope efurrything works fine now and there are no attacks nor bugs… to tell the truth, I always visit my blog after I published a post (but I don’t comment LOL) :o)

Techie and bloggie issues aren’t any fun! Glad they all got sorted out!
I think I may have mentioned this before, but just to be sure and since you asked, we do have trouble commenting on your blog. This is the message we get:
ERROR: Your comment appears to be spam.
Please go back and check all parts of your comment submission (including name, email, website, and comment content).

So we got back and take off our website URL and only include our name and email, and it works. Not sure why this happens. It’s not a big deal because we are able to leave a comment as long as we don’t include our blog URL, but not sure if this may be happening for others too.

  6. Pretinha

Eu sempre visito o meu blog mas não saberia como resolver o problema, fico contente que o seu papai conseguiu alguém para ajudá-lo a resolver o problema.

We are sorry you were having tech problems, but we are glad it is fixed now! Sometimes the Mom wishes she could do a self-hosted WordPress blog, but she knows nothing about any of this tech stuff, so she sticks with Blogger, MOL.

Mom realized a while back we don’t visit our blog very often. Now we try to click around a bit here and there a couple times a week. Hope you have things safely locked down now. Tech trouble is not fun.

  15. Sometimes, Cats Herd You

We’re glad everything is back up and running! We are using a downtime notification service to let us know when there are issues like that since we don’t look at our own blog very often, either. The only downside is that when another site on our shared server gets pounded, we get a lot of “it’s down!” “it’s up!” “it’s down!” “it’s up!” notifications that make the head peep a little crazy.

  16. Cathy Keisha

Woa! The reason I’m still on Blogger. We couldn’t load your blog but the day before we couldn’t load another WP blog. We told them and they told us they knew and weren’t very nice about it so we didn’t tell you. Oh well. TW is always viewing my blog cos she likes reading the comments.

  17. Kitties Blue

WordPress was having brute force attacks on it quite regularly at West Hosts, but we are happy to say that it hasn’t happened it quite sometime now. Mom gets so mad and frustrated when it happens. Happy for you that everything is up and running again. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  18. Mark's Mews
