Tidy Cats LightWeight 4-in-1 Strength Cat Litter
Tidy Cats Cat Litter has been a part of our family for as long as I can remember. But I can tell you, I don’t remember anything like this, it doesn’t look like the other litter packages that I’ve seen Dad lugging in through the garage. Dad actually purchased this litter shortly after it came out, even though we’ve been known not to get too excited about making changes to much of anything.
As most of you know, we’re a family of seven cats, six downstairs, and one upstairs. We have quite a few litter boxes and keeping up with them can be quite the chore for our human staff. From watching Dad, it’s quite obvious that most litters are quite heavy. So, when this hit the market the Dad easily picked up some for us to try.
But, there is a lot more to the Tidy Cats LightWeight 4-in-1 Strength Cat Litter, see, it says so right here on the label. Look here, it says it controls ammonia, urine and fecal odors, that’s sure a good thing. It says it clumps tight for easy scooping, which would be darn good because sometimes the non-tight clumps scatter all over the place. Of course it’s 50% lighter compared to leading clumping litters.
We gave it a whirl and overall we were pretty pleased with the results. We were a little concerned about two things, was it dusty and would the scent bother two of my sisters that have asthma. First, we didn’t find this litter to be any dustier that the regular litter we use. Really, most litters seem to be dusty when pouring them into the litter boxes. The scent seemed a little unusual to us at first but once it was in the litter box for a while none of us seemed to pay any attention to it.
How did it do controlling odors? I’ve got to say that they typical litter box odors seemed to not be noticeable at all and most humans would be quite pleased with that. Then there is the clumping thing, how did it do? The clumping action was totally amazing, nice and tight and it didn’t fall off or scatter at all when the Dad or Mom scooped the boxes. Overall the Tidy Cats LightWeight 4-in-1 Strength Cat Litter does what it says it will do. What about the LightWeight thing?
Sister Precious, the upstairs sister, has two litter boxes of her own. It really hasn’t been easy for Dad trying to tote the heavier litters upstairs to her gated community. Dad actually carried two of these upstairs at the same time, pretty impressive! Dad has a bad back, so anything that makes it easier for him is always a plus.
Dad decided to put the Tidy Cats LightWeight 4-in-1 Strength Cat Litter in one of her boxes. Sister Precious used the box with the new litter right off the bat and has continued to use it. This litter works great for our older kitty Precious since it doesn’t require much effort to dig and cover. It looks like Sister Precious says this one is a keeper too.

That does look like a good deal. We might have to try that. Great review too. You all have a great day.
Good look to all kitties… that sounds like the purrrrr-fect solution :o)
I have 2 cats and love this litter, my arms used to ache because the former kind of tidy cats was dadblasted heavy..Love your blog and kitteh cats! Hoping to win!
I’ve only used one litter EVER but the “lightweight” thing just might be the ticket for my poor old Mom and Dad because it is quite heavy when you have to lug the boxes/containers around. Mom lugs it into her grocery cart and into the trunk of the car and Dad lugs it OUT of the trunk and into the basement when she gets home. That’s a lot of lugging – lightweight – like that!
Hugs, sammy
We love Tidy Cats litter at our house.
Sounds like this is a great idea for upstairs/downstairs homes where humans have to navigate a lot of stairs carrying cat litter.
We changed to using Fullers Earth clumping litter a few months ago and Mum loves it as it really does clump and she scoops the pee out and there’s no pee smell and the rest of the litter tray is just soft like it used to be before. She sure is a happy bunny!! She orders it over the telephone and it’s here within a couple of days.
Mom and her old friend, Rheumatoid Arthritis may have to try this!
Good, interesting blog post.

We’ve been using Tidy Cat for years, the regular kind. I’ve been thinking of making the transition to the light-weight variety (and have bought a container of it to mix in with the regular), but it is more expensive. Maybe I could manage the more cost effective larger tubs if we started using the light-weight exclusively.
We do have fun watching the humans carry in the 50 lbs of litter from Costco. Lighter is a good thing for humans.
WOW Brian and Precious have made me want to try this for our cat-crew. Great reviewing job!
That sounds a great litter! I’m big fan of light-weight so that you don’t have to drag around heavy bag!

Boa sorte para todos!
We have not tried this yet.
Whoa! Precious approved. Great review. I find scented litters do bother my asthma but if they ever make one unscented, we’ll buy it.
Sounds like you found another good litter that works for you. We tried one of the lightweight litters once, but decided it wasn’t for us because Raven sometimes steps on the edge of her litter box and she can tip it over when it’s not filled with heavy clay. It may not be practical for your family, but one way to decrease the amount of litter dust in the box is to take the box outside and pour the new litter in from as high as you can reach. A lot of the dust will drift away on the air… Read more »
We’re glad you are all happy with it. Humans do complain about hauling heavy litter containers, so it’s good they are also happy with it.
thanks for sharing about this, Brian. our mom has a hard time lugging big bags of litter around. we’ve tried the light weight stuff before, though we don’t remember if it was Tidy Cats brand. our mom especially doesn’t like scented litters because she’ll notice the smell in the dust on stuff. we’ll look to find this as unscented. thank you for having the drawing too! good luck to everybuddy!
pip, smidgen, minnie, hollie, sharpie, ditto
I wondered how good that was, the light weight is a plus.
How great that litters are finally becoming lighter weight. 🙂
I’ve been getting Tidy Cat when it’s on sale, which is frequently. $5 for 20 pounds. What I can’t figure out is all the different varieties. They have a ton of different kinds but in the end they all seem the same. I can never figure out the difference. Whatever!
We are touched by your kind and comforting words.
Thank you. Purrs and headbutts from all of us.
Our human trained us not to use litter due to our handicap.
Good luck to all who enters!
Great review ! Light weight litter is interesting for humans, but not for Pixie : she’s an enthusiastic digger, and spread litter everywhere. Mum tried light weight litter once, not twice… Purrs
Thanks for the contest! Never tried the Tidy Ligjtweight!! Looks great!
Hey!
That’s MY cat litter!!! Mommy was so furry happy when she finded it at Wally World that she danced! She says it’s way easier than the regular (as mes won’t use anything but regular letter)
Glad your Dad likes it too!
Kisses
Nellie
Mom continues to have us trying different litters in an attempt to find something everyone likes. So far only a couple of us have agreed to use any of the lightweight litters. Maybe this one will be the answer. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
