Mancat Monday: A Few Quick Health Updates

Brian's Home. Adopt cats, we deserve it! Pardon us if we don’t get around to visit your blogs as quickly as we would like, we’re still dealing with some health issues at our place, more specifically, with Sister Kit.  You may or may not recall, but I dictate by blogs for the week on Sunday so they are done and scheduled out for the week.  So, these updates were as of yesterday.

We’ll start with the weighty issues first.  The dry food in our diet is almost all gone and we’re almost fully transitioned to a wet food only diet.  Speaking of diets, Sister Gracie has gained more and now weights more than she ever has…sigh.  We’re still trying.  On the other paw, Sister Precious has gained some weight, which is terrific, but I’ll let her tell you about that on Saturday.

Now for Sister Kit.  Kit had a terrific day on Saturday, she was walking about quite well, ate well, and even used the litter box.  Then, at 4AM Sunday morning the Dad woke up when he heard growling and hissing and yelling.  He thought there was a fight going on, but it was Sister Kit hurting when she was trying to stand up.  It obviously hurt a lot too.  Dad gave her the pain meds but they sure didn’t seem to help immediately.  She couldn’t get up.  Dad put some food down and she ate it.  Then, at about 9:30, she got up, headed down the long hallway and went to the litter box.  She didn’t use the one with the easy entry, she instead used the one had to climb in to it to use.  Go figure, and she’s been walking around and even went to the kitchen to eat some wet food.  Some more purrs and prayers would sure be appreciated.  Dangit.

Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!!  More Forever Homes More Often!  Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

POTP to you sister Kit, I’m so sorry that this happened…I cross my paws that it will be better without seeing the vet …. and good luck with the die-t Gracie, I hope you are back to a good weight soon and die-t time is history…

  2. Marg

Gracie, how could you be gaining weight?? Guess you are just going around eating everyone’s food. Sounds like Dad needs to do what our Mom does, if we don’t finish our plates, it goes outside to the outside cats. Maybe the ferals would like some of that food. Then the next meal, maybe everyone would finish their food.
Sorry Kit, you are having such a hard time. Guess it takes a while for the pain meds to work. We sure send tons of purrs to you Kit.

Oh no Kit…I can’t imagine how that must have hurt. I hope maybe it was a mean or cramp that has passed.

We just feel so badly for dear Kit. We truly hope time will mend whatever is causing the pain and that time would hurry up. It’s good to hear she’s eating and using the box.

  8. Emma

Poor Kit. Hope she feels better. We are having troubles with Katie too. She isn’t really eating much at all and is getting pretty weak. It’s never good when the furry ones are not doing well.

Oh Brian we’s hate to hear this. Altho’ we do purreciate da update. You know us kitties, we never take da easy route. You know even in da end when sis Lexi couldn’t hardly stand up, she was still tryin’ to jump in da shower to help me drag mommy out. And instead of drinkin’ water from da fountain on da floor, she insisted on takin’ 10 times as long to jump up on da vanity and drink from dat fountain. We’s sendin’ lots and lots of purrayers and hugs fur all.

    Luv ya’ll bunches

  16. The OP Pack

All paws crossed for Sister Kit to be painfree soon. And for everyone else too. Hope the week improves for all each day of the week.

OMC! It must be so hard to watch someone you love in pain like that. More healing purrz coming Sister Kit’s way. It’s a mystery all the weight gaining. I get 2 1/2 3-oz cans of food per day and can’t put on an ounce.

  18. The Island Cats

Poor Kit! We’re purring mega purrs for her. The mom wishes she could get us on to all wet food…but some cat around here (Wally!) insists on his crunchies.

  19. Raven

Some mixed news for your siblings, Brian. Purrs for Kit. I hope her leg is feeling better soon and she doesn’t have many more episodes of pain.

  20. Socks, Scylla, Fenris, Tuiren, YinYang & Chimera

Extra special healing purrs to Sister Kit, we are sorry she is in so much pain. If it is arthritis, have you thought of a heating pad for her to sleep on?

Glad to hear Sister Precious has gained some weight.

Sister Gracie, Scylla understand completely how hard it is to lose those pounds even with the metabolic food she is eating. The kittens have helped her get more exercise which is good but it’s still hard to get those pounds off. Hang in there girl and don’t give up. But remember you are loved no matter how much you weigh. Scylla has often wished she could give Socks her extra pounds as he is too skinny, she thinks it is highly unfair he can eat as much as he wants and doesn’t gain a pound, poor Scylla just thinks about food and those pounds find her.
