Mancat Monday: Why Is It So Dang Hot?

32 Comments on Mancat Monday: Why Is It So Dang Hot?

mm07252016I know, I know, of all the things I could be pondering I’m pondering on the hotness of things.  Yesterday we got to over 100ºF and that my friends is just way too hot.  Couple that with our drought conditions and things aren’t looking promising here.

When it’s hot outside we can tell, even inside.  How can I tell it’s super hot outside?  Some of my sisters are actually sitting on the air conditioner vents.  Now then, I don’t do that, but a few of them do and them seem to like it.  Our poor AC thingy seems to be working overtime and both our downstairs and upstairs cool air blowy units seem to be running most of the time.  Sometimes if just feels too hot to even eat, well, sometimes.  Oh, and the bugs don’t like the hot either and lots of them seem to be trying to figure out how to get inside.  Not to worry though, we eat them if we find them.  One of them was pretty darn yucky though.

Oh well, we have it better than lots of critters who are stuck outside all the time.  We make sure our ferals  have plenty of cool fresh water at all times.  Have a great Monday and a fun week everyone!  Hey, coming tomorrow…amazing toehawks!

Oh Brian bad heat and drought are part of our life here…we found very inventive ways to keep cool..cooling mats for the doggies and the girls liked them too! I used to get mens handkerchiefs pop them in icy water and wring them out to make bandanas for the kitties..and salt reduced stock frozen in cubes in bowls are a hit…avpid those bugs…ewww Loves Fozziemum xx

When kitties prefer air conditioning vents to sun puddles… it is really too hot!

Sometimes Cats Herd You

We are enjoying the air conditioning, and Pierre has discovered that one of the vents points directly at the top of the cat tree. Sun puddles are totally out of fashion this time of year!

It has been hot around these parts too… Try to stay cool!

It is “fryably hot” out there……someone suggested it was hot enough to fry bacon and eggs on the sidewalk and I’m thinking YES……….I’m keeping my ginger self INDOORS the past several days except for an emergency gasp of fresh air from time to time but that’s just a few minutes before I’m back in the A/C! KEEP COOL BRIAN!

Yep, the super heat sucks indeed. We are all sprawled out on the floor, except if bugs sneak in, then we eat them too.

There are lots of complicated reasons why it is so hot, but I won’t go into them here. 🙂 And it isn’t even August yet! All of you do your best to stay cool…or at least, less hot!

Brian, we are way hotter than usual too. It’s really awful when it’s still 95 at 9:00 p.m.! We all agree, if we wanted to be baked to death, we’d live in the Mohave Desert!

Oh that is hot conditions you describe there. Super glad you have AC, we don’t have that here so it’s really frustrating when the hots show up.

We are not fans of heat as you can only do so much to stay cool. At least when it is cold, a girl can really bundle up to keep warm.

OMC over 100F! I don’t think even we reached 100F here in Georgia. Poor AC working overtime!
Your feral kitties are very lucky to get cool fresh water. Stay cool and have a great week!

I can sympathize with you, Brian. It’s going to be very hot here this week with highs over 100. But we don’t have much humidity so it isn’t oppressive like your area. In the morning we can open the windows and get cool air in the house before closing it up for the day. Our a/c turns on around 2pm and runs until bedtime. I avoid the a/c vents because that would be too cold. I’m sure the outdoor kitties are finding the best spots to stay out of the heat for most of the day. It’s so thoughtful of… Read more »

Sounds like you have the conditions we had here last summer and we assure you, it was awful! Our Mom says our hots are arriving later this week, as they are very, very late this year, and there will be plenty of sunpuddles, and water bowls outside, to go around. Stay cool, friends!

TW thinks it’s amazing how I know when it’s hot outside even in out climate controlled condo. I don’t eat much and I rest a lot. Our first really hot day was when I got sick with the asthma thingy. Last year we didn’t really have a summer so we feel it more this year. Hope the cooler weather comes quickly.

We love our a/c vents – as you have seen, Lightning lays right on top of the. A few are in the ceilings and Ciara likes to find a spot under them. At least today we got a bit of a break from the HOTS.

Oh Brian we don’t know why it has to be so hot either. We’s not eatin’ any bugs, but it’s mostly cuz mommy mde sure to kill ’em after da last scorpion dat made it’s way into da house. MOL Fanks fur takin’ care of your ferals. We so worry ’bout da ferals in da winter and da summer. Mommy says it’s too hot fur man or animal to be outside right now. As fur those coolin’ vents, ours are all in da walls?. Sure would be nice ifin they was on da floor so we could lay on’em. Ya’ll… Read more »

We know what you mean, Brian! It got to 100 degrees over the weekend here. Our air conditioning doesn’t work very well at all. The Mom has to get a doctor to say that she needs a window a/c before the management will let her put one in, so she’s wondering if her asthma diagnosis will suffice for that. She wants to help Lita stay cooler to help her asthma. We, too, are grateful to have any a/c, though. We know the cats outside have it worse than we do! Please say hi to all of your sisters for us,… Read more »

We feel your pain, Brian. We haven’t hit 100 degrees but upper 90s with lots of humidity makes for a grumpy mommy and kitties who don’t even want to go on the catio. Try to stay cool. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
