Book Review: Close Encounters of the Furred Kind and a Giveaway

Disclosure: We received a paperback edition of this book from St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are always our own.

Close Encounters of the Furred Kind

Here’s an opportunity to win a marvelous book by Tom Cox and this giveaway is open to all, regardless of where you live.  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and enter via Rafflecopter.  The deadline for entering the giveaway is August 17, 2016 at 12:00 Noon EST.

Sometimes I’m hesitant discuss books involving critters, not because I don’t like critters, but because lots of books have a certain amount of sad to them, that’s not overly the case here, although a few times my whiskers got a bit weepy wet.  Close Encounters of the Furred Kind is really a terrific book and there are lots of relatable smiles within these pages.  Change is never easy and sometimes, well, most of the times, cats express these things more eloquently that do humans.   No spoiler alert, but there is some life changes going on in this household.

You will quickly grow extremely fond of The Bear and his compadres Shipley and Ralph, oh yes, and Roscoe too.  This is our first book by Tom Cox and we quickly knew we were in the world of a cat person, no doubt about it.  If you’re a true cat person you immediately know when you’re in the presence of another.  The writing is witty and downright giggle-out-loud funny.   I really enjoy a book when you feel like you’re immersed in the lives of your best friends.  This book is billed as a follow-up to the previous Tom Cox best seller “The Good, The Bad, and the Furry”, and even though we’ve not read that one, YET, we seriously can’t wait to see what we’ve missed.

I’m sure you will be as captivated and charmed by the furry ones as we were, in fact, we’re still smiling.   If you would like to win a copy, here comes the Rafflecopter…you know what to do next!

Getting the write tone sure takes a cat person indeed. Or maybe a both version, as mutts can get in too. Sounds like a great one indeed.

This sounds just like my kind of book. I also worry about animal books with very sad moments. I do love ones that make me laugh.

That sounds like a lovely book It’s so nice when they have so much humour.
I’ve often bought books which I thought would be a good read about animals, only to end up in tears so know what you mean.

This is a very sweet blog that I’ve not come across before, but I believe I’ll follow it and return on a regular basis. Being owned by a Calico ensures I enjoy and empathise with it.?
