Hello everyone! Today we’re helping to celebrate the Petfinder 20th Anniversary and giving you an easy way to help shelters and rescues along the way. First though, I want to show you one of the many adoptable cats on Petfinder from our area.
This lovely girl is Polly (photo from Petfinder.com). Polly is at Concerned Citizens for animals in Greenville, SC. We are told that she is about a year old, spayed, and loves children. Polly came to us after being found on the side of the road. She was nervous at first, but has blossomed. She enjoys being around other nice cats and people. She would also be very happy to be the only cat.
This reserved lady sure will make your heart melt when you meet her and know her story. She is up to date on shots, spayed, and litter box trained. You can see Polly on her Petfinder.com page: HERE.
More than 25 million pets and millions of pet parents can claim that they #MetOnPetfinder since the site was established in 1996 – that’s an average of 1.2 million pets per year who have found their forever homes via Petfinder.
Petfinder encourages more people to encourage adoption when adding a pet to their family. By removing barriers within the adoption process, Petfinder’s goal is to make the pet adoption process easier by connecting people with pets.
Celebrity animal adoption advocates Jamie Chung and Tony La Russa have partnered with Petfinder to emphasize the importance of considering adoption first, and to encourage animal lovers nationwide to watch the #MetOnPetfinder video to help 20 animal welfare organizations receive impactful funding.
“I’m proud to team up with Petfinder and celebrate the lifelong happiness they’ve created for millions of families and the pets they’ve adopted,” said award-winning actress Jamie Chung, who has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows. “I hope that more people consider adopting when adding a pet to their family. My dog, Ewok, is adopted and he’s been the best addition to my family.”
Over the past 20 years, Petfinder has harnessed the power of the internet to help facilitate more than 25 million pet adoptions through its extensive network of more than 13,000 shelter and rescue organizations. At any given time, there are more than 250,000 adoptable pets featured on Petfinder.
“My family and I have adopted and fostered more pets through the years than I can count. I strongly support Petfinder’s goal to find forever homes for adoptable pets and to encourage more people to consider pet adoption,” said Tony La Russa, Major League Baseball Hall of Fame manager and co-founder of the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) in Walnut Creek, CA. “By simply watching the #MetOnPetfinder celebration video, you can help Petfinder continue to support shelters and rescues that care for adoptable pets around the country.”
Four of us at Brian’s Home were actually listed on Petfinder and we are such a part of the family. In fact, our pet parents say we’ve made the family even better, for several reasons.
- We constantly encourage others to adopt and make the world a better place for cats.
- We’ve helped connect our family with other rescue pets though the power of blogging.
- We remind everyone that just because someone looks different they are still special and full of love.
- We remind everyone that sharing brings lots of joy.
- We help our pet parents relax, especially at bed time.
Did you meet on Petfinder? If you did, share your story on social media with the hashtag #MetOnPetfinder.
How can you help? Watch this video, share and encourage others to watch it too. Help us reach 1 million views by October 24th. If we reach that goal, Petfinder.com will donate $200,000 to 20 shelters with a $10,000 grant from Petfinder.com Foundation. This will help 20 of our rescue members to continue to transform the lives of pets in their care and cultivate lifelong relationships.
Petfinder was founded in 1996 by Betsy Banks Saul and Jared Saul, who started a website to help save lives of adoptable pets by connecting people to various animal shelters across New Jersey.
