I’m always thankful to learn new things. How about you, do you like learning new things too? Here lately I’ve been learning a lot about raising kittens, specifically the newbies, feral kittens. Well, let me clarify that, they are far from being feral these days.
You would think I would know more about kittenhood since I was a kitten once. When I was adopted I was 9 months old, still a kitten, and Brother Angel Ivan was very patient with some of my early antics. But, there hasn’t really been a kitten in the house since, well, since me. The others were all a bit older when we adopted them.
I’ve had to relearn quite a few things in dealing with the endless energy of a kitten, or two:
- Toys are a wonderful distractions, if they are where then shouldn’t be just toss them a toy.
- They often confuse the word NO with the word GO.
- They aren’t easily offended by a hissyface.
- They are open for kitten business on their schedule not the peeps schedule.
- There is kitten joy in sticking you head under a dripping faucet.
I’m thankful for the newbies and I’m thankful they are keeping me in touch with my inner kitten. I’m thankful when they settle in for a rest MOL!
What about you? What are you thankful for today? How about joining us in our Blog Hop? Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
He he! I just love that-they often confuse the word no with go—so so true!
LOL, my assistant is laughing because her ten year old human daughter also sometimes mistakes the word no with go!
I’ll bet everyone is thankful when they take a nap. MOL! Uh, don’t no and go mean the same thing?
Dearest brian! mes thinks no cat ever looses their inner kitten! mommy says mes still has mine!
Loves the 2 sisters yesterday and mes sorry mes never got over on Valentines Day!
Happy belated Valentines and Many Many Kisses and Valentine wishes!

Kittens are a lot of fun. I am glad you are in touch with your inner kitten. Thanks for hosting the hop.
It’s been 20+ years since we’ve had kittens in our house. I’m glad yours are bringing out your inner kitten. I’m glad they’re not offended by hissyface but I hope that’s not happening too often.
We are thankful that it is you raising kittens instead of us!
It sounds like those kittens sure are a pawful!
It had been so many years since we had a kitten in the house – Sammy was only 6 weeks old when we got him 17 years ago……..his little brother Teddy who joined us a week ago from the shelter is 11 months old but just as CRAZY as I remember Sam to be as an even younger kitten. High energy doesn’t quite describe it but it’s “all good” and fun…..even for a couple of old people like Teddy’s Dad and me!
Hugs, Pam (and Angel Sam and Teddy)
Granny would love to have kittens in the house, but not me…MOL 😀 I act like a kitten too sometimes, so I can show Granny the difference between a well educated Binky and a Little Binky 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Thursday 🙂 <3
So true!! Have a great week!
There are lots of us that still have the inner kitten inside of us. Kittens are just the best fun ever. At least we all have a good time here and we sure are no longer what they call kittens. You all have a great day.
Kittens keep us young but you are right they do everything on their own schedule.
They do add extra energy to the household don’t they Brian. Glad you are getting along well with the Kids.
We think it is very important to keep in touch with your inner kitten! Those two are so lucky to have found themselves with such wise and wonderful siblings.
Purrs,
The Chans
I got a laugh at #2. It’s been decades since there’s been a kitten here, but Pierrot was a crazy two-year-old when we brought him home. It sounds like they bring lots of joy to your home, and Brian, you are so good with them.
Brian, that’s a great picture of you!
It sounds like you’re learning a lot from the kittens, Brian, and having lots of fun with them! You sure are a fantastic big brother.
hahaha we think n°2 is more than true :O))))
haha yeah, give them the hissyface and they just come back for more, what is up with that?
I still stick my face under the faucet MOL 😉
xoxo,
Matilda (& Matt)
One day those kittens are going to be thankful for your patience with them, although they have yet to learn the word, let alone know how fortunate they are to have you mentoring them.
Why yes Brian you’re right, no and go do sound alike! Enjoy those kittens!
Hmmmm “confusing “no” with “go”?” Maybe that is my problem with Cody? LMAO!!
It’s so impawtant to keep in touch with your inner kitten ! Today, we’re thankful for the wonderful sunny weather and the mild temperatures. Purrs
Kittens are puppies are so much fun. Sometimes they can be a bit exhausting, but they are so wonderful.
Brian, you are obviously the perfect older brother to kittens! Teach them well!
Haha, No and Go can be quite confusing for kittens!
Filhotes são divertidos, não são?
Cafunés para vocês, meus amores!

I love learning new things, too. Kittens! Endless balls of energy that need a good paw smack often.
Kittens are wonderful, they love to play more than anything.
You probably know this already, but a brown paper bag will keep them amused for a whole day. I remember when I had the Siamese kittens and they loved that and cardboard boxes.

Gosh, it has been so long since we’ve had kittens too, I think we’ve forgotten what little terrors they can be! Therefore, we are happy to live vicariously through you! 🙂
Love the list – I do remember how they definitely had their own schedule. Who needed sleep anyway?
#3 and #4 are still part of Cooper Murphy’s repertoire at age 16 months. He wrote a poem today saying all the things for which he’s thankful. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
LOL, it seems you are and the kitties are both learning from this experience.
Good points! Maggie is 9 yrs. old and still sticks her head under the faucet! She loves kittens, too. ❤
Brian, you look like a million there in your picture and I loved re-learning about kittens.
This post made Mum laugh out loud Brian. Thank you. Our post goes up SOON (honest AND we managed to visit everyone last week!)
The last time Mommy had a kitten was when she was 19. And she’s really old now so that was a long time ago. I was seven months old when I came to live here, but never acted like a kitten. Her boyfriend did find a kitten under a car a couple of years ago and she now has her forever home.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had kittens around here, Brian. Though sometimes the way Ernie runs around here, you’d think he was still one. ~Wally
We haven’t had a real kitten since our old bro William, and of us only our mom remembers that. Your list is very good, Brian!
Rule 1, kittens must be tolerated.
Rule 2, see above…
Happy Thankful Thursday Brian!
The P.A. has neffur had a kitten, though she says she’d like lots!!! MOL

Kittens sure are fun, huh Brian? Funny, but we think our Zoe still has some kitten joy, because she kind of likes sticking her head under a dripping faucet, too. 🙂
Hugs!
Excellent information!
