Thankful Thursday Blog Hop: Fireplaces and Rugs

Brian's Home, adopt cats, we deserve it!
Dang, let me tell you, we’ve had quite the cold snap here in the South. We went from having temperatures in the 70s to temperatures in the low 20s. That is a whole big bunch of Brrrrr Humbug. I’m sure thankful to have a home where the warm is plentiful.

I’ve been spending lots of time on my Throne, which happens to be right in front of the fireplace. Oh my, the toasty warm sure feels good. If the buns get a little too warm, I just roll it over and toast the other side for a while. Just the other day the fireplace wasn’t on and I was a bit chilly. I sat there looking at the fireplace for a few minutes and sure enough, the Dad took the hint and started it up for me. Thanks Dad!

I’ve got to tell you about my creative Sister Seal. We have tile floors in the big bathroom and those things can be a bit cool to the touch, if you know what I mean. Well, in the big bathroom there is a separate shower place. Outside of the shower place is a rug for the peeps to step on when they get out. My Sister Seal will move that rug right on top of the furnace register and make herself a nice heated bed. She’s one smart one!

We’re thankful for warm and the creativity to heat your own feet! What are you thankful for today? Tell me in the comments, and better yet, join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

She’s pretty clever! Here, we’re already running very warm at our sad new 10-15 degrees higher than normal. We fear this will mean h*ll–we mean summer–will be 500 months long this year.

That Sister Seal is sharp, all right. Even my Tungsten thought just of lying next to the hot-air vent, not putting a rug on top of it. As for the others, there are two heated cat-beds that are rarely empty. But it’s first come first serve there. I need to get some more!

  3. The Menagerie Mom

It’s been downright cold here, too. Do you think we could come join you by your fireplace, Brian? Or perhaps Seal has some space on her rug? We sure are glad you kitties have such a wonderful and warm home!

Oh no, you are getting the cold now too! We are also very thankful for warm places to sleep and snuggle. Wow, that Sister Seal really is a smart girl!
Here’s to hoping Spring comes soon.

Wow, Seal is quite a savvy girl! Good for her. You’re smart too, Brian, to get the Dad to turn on the fire place. You look so handsome today. We’re all so blessed to have warm homes. πŸ™‚

Brian a throne with a view of a fireplace and lovey heat is a smart place to be.

OMCs Seal is a smart little gal. Amazing at how quickly she solve the cold tile issues.

Brian, see, you communicate with your Dad, and he does your bidding! Seal is just following your lead, by finding ways to make things just the way you want them. Jolly good!

We love the cold and we love winter, but one of our favorite things about winter is the evenings spent in front of the fireplace! Stay warm!

  12. Timmy Tomcat

We are having that nasty cold too. I like to lay on the cat perch that is right above the heater. Ahhh. If they use the other perches and the cat walk 4 of us can stay toasty while the others cuddle on the couch. Take that cold!
Thanks fur a great Thankful Thursday

BOL – we just put up our post about fireplaces and cold tiles, but we have a different take:) Sister Seal is very clever for such a young one.

Tile floors… TELL me about ’em. MOUSES!

We have tile floors in the sunroom and they’re cooler than cool. Colder than cold. Chillier than chilly, too. Of course, we’ve kinda been cut off from the sunroom the last couple of months but still, I walked over those tiles the other day and they were FREEZIN’, for sure.

What’s that, Rushy? Oh. Okay. I’ll tell ’em. Rushton says he thinks the pot of freesias will recover. MOUSES!

You kitties are very good at inventing your own heat spots. We could sure use more heat here. It’s so cold we’re late coming by to enter the blog hop. But we’re here and you had already been by when we got online You’re mind readers. πŸ™‚

Brian , we smiled when you said your Dad took the “hint” to get the fireplace going. You have him well trained!

Seal is a clever kitty, that is certain! πŸ™‚

Yes they are all so happy to have a comfy temperate home environment!

Thanks for commenting! hope all is well there. Wishing you warming again!

  20. Raven

Wow, that’s a huge temperature swing. We have a fireplace but it never gets used. Sister Seal is a very smart kitty making herself a warm and cozy bed.

  21. Kitties Blue

This cold snap has been ridiculous. Mom won’t let us go on the catio when it is below freezing, and we don’t like that. Sister Seal really is a bright for one so young. It’s supposed to start warming up, and we sure hope it doesn’t get cold again. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
