I’m a bit tired today, care to guess why? Unless you are new to our blog I know you’ve heard me mention “Lights Out” before. That happens every evening and the peeps call it bedtime. The basic deal is this, the Dad or the Mom calls lights out and we each go to our favorite sleeping spots and we pretty much stay there sleeping through the night.
Hey, that’s what my Brother Angel Ivan taught me and I’ve been kind enough to pass it on to all those who have joined our family. However, there are two who have yet to understand this lesson. Would anyone care to venture a guess which two haven’t caught on yet? Dang, y’all are pretty smart! Yes, that would be Brother Simon and Sister Seal.
The last couple of nights has been playtime and the play purrsisted all through the night. Nice, noisy play, like batting the ball in the scratcher go-round or ripping and running as fast as they can go. As soon as I finish this post I’m going over to Amazon and buy them a copy of Sleeping Through the Night for Dummies. Seriously, they were doing pretty good for a long time and now, well, let’s just say none of us are sleeping through the night. Guess it’s back to the board for some drawing.
Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
Well, they are kittens. They may need to grow up some more!
I’m with your two nighthawks… to sleep the whole night is boring… and the mama buys a copy of that book for me now too heheheh
Oh no, those silly kittens. They still need to learn the rules. Are you all flooded out?? Yikes, it is still raining here. The Mom is going to have to swim to the barn to see the donkeys. You all have a great day.
Haha, always fun with kittens 🙂 I go check out Amazon to find Sleeping Through the Night for Dummies book, too. Maybe my boys can do some reading!
The two new ones will probably adjust to the standard schedule. Our kitties have basically adjusted to our schedule.
BOL Ohhh myyy we’re so very sorry to hear the babies are keeping everyone up at night. Sadly we can relate to being tired here as well. Sadly it’s not due to babies playing but my Mom barking like she’s trying to become a pupper. Yups Dad shared his cold with Mom and now it’s her turn to keep us all up. ~sigh~ I can feel ya bro’s I can feel ya.
Teddy is just over a year old and knows no limits to “play time” – anything goes – any TIME goes – and I’m the “chosen victim” vs. his Dad. He starts trying to wake me up around 2AM or so……crying, bringing toys to me, crying some more……closing the bedroom door doesn’t stop him – he will keep crying (and this boy has a very pitiful squeaky voice!). I do NOT want to “punish” him by putting him in the basement with the door closed but he just doesn’t mind AT ALL when I say NO. Sigh…..I know he’s just… Read more »
haha they may decide to play with the book and keep you up even more.
OMCs Brian…does my mom hear you! The first 6 months I was here I was purrfect then I got into a funk with nights and days all messed up. Now I’m good but every so often there is a toy bird I have that chirps in the middle of the night…then mom remembers to put it away
Hugs madi your bfff
I CANNOT stop laughing!!!! PARRRRRRRRRRRRTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! xoxo
I wonder if Simon is behind the ruckus??? My kitties sleep, but Sophie gets up at 3 or 4 every morning and starts meowing. Mom goes nuts!
We knew it! MOL!
MOL…I think they need a few lessons more…kids…*rolls eyes* 😀 Need some furresh nip on the rocks? I have plenty of it! Double nipped Pawkisses for the youngsters and one for you two 🙂 <3
Do they sleep all day after keeping everyone else up at night? They just have too much energy, we hope they learn the rules soon so all can get some sleep. Hugs and nose kisses
Hmm, being a sleep in the day and out at night sort of Princess, I’m afraid I can’t offer much support to you Brian, bar keep persisting and time will show your errant duo the way. You do have my sympathy though, and that of my peep who is forever getting up at two AM to sort out my food deliveries. MOL
Purrs, ERin
Chloe Jo has never learned to settle down for the night. She is up and down all night. So is George. He gets into whatever he can at night. *sigh*
Hey, we have lights out every night, too! Our Dad says we have a “routine” that includes the Red Dot toy and Brushies followed by Nighty-Night time. Sometimes, some of us don’t stick to the routine because we’re cats that way. MOL!
seal & simon !!!!!! 984 paws UP !!!!!!!! grate job N keep up de grate werk; N just sayin; de mor trax ballz ya haz IN de trax toy….de better…N for sum reezon de time frame of 2:18 aye am thru 3:37 aye am haza better “sound qualitee” thru out de houz ! 🙂 ♥♥
MOL ! That’s the reason why Claire and Momo close the door of the bedroom and let us the whole house ! Purrs
Maybe your folks need to hide the toys before bed.
I feel your pain, Brian! Now that the sun is coming up earlier, Angel wants us to be awake when she is! She meows from the front room, and if that doesn’t make us get up outta bed, she’ll walk right into the room and meow even louder!
Mom and Dad are very happy that we understand the bedtime rules. For the most part, Misty is very good. Some mornings though, she likes to rise way before the sun:(
Woos – Lightning and Misty
MOL it’s da teen months. Mommy hates those. MOL We sure hope ya’ll get some sleep soon. Big hugs
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
Oh boy, good luck with those two! It’s been a long time since we had any young kitties in the house, so we’ve forgotten what that was like. Our senior cat Conrad did a lot of yowling in the night for a while before he passed, but that was because he missed his sister who we had lost. It took him so time to adjust but finally he did, and we’ve been pretty peaceful ever since.
Brian, we totally know what you mean. We have a ritual, too, but only Caroline and I know it means time to sleep. The I boys think it’s a signal to go crazy! And they are WAY past kittenhood!
We feel for you Brian!! Frodo and sleep are not on friendly terms! To him night means playtime!
Ah! The joys of night running!
Nellie did that until she was in her mid-teens…then Jo Jo started!
There is nothing like the sound of great thundering Wildebeest tearing through the house in the middle of the night!
Love Barb
They may need some extra playtime before “lights out” to tire them out. Maybe some serious jumping after a wind toy or smousy laser.
Sounds like those two newbies are slow learners. We’re sure you’ll set them straight, Brian.
you do look tired, Brian. sorry if we can’t help but mol a bit. our nights have quieted down but there are some mornings where our mom sees the aftermath of the boycat high-jinks and wonders how she didn’t hear anything 😀
pip, smidgen, minnie, hollie
Funny things, They may need some extra time for playing before “lights out”.
Our humans are quite happy that we are pretty good about sleeping through the night with an exception now and again. Even Cooper Murphy is good at that, which is probably because he spends the whole day on the catio in the fresh air being stimulated by watching birds and squirrels. Seal and Simon will learn when they are no longer kittens bursting with energy. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
Hmmm…I guess 7 outta 9 ain’t too bad!
Ahhhh youth. Is somekitty making sure to keep them up all day?
