Thankful Thursday Blog Hop: Calming Voices When the Power Is Acting Up

Note: I posted health updates in case you missed them.

thankful thursday blog hop brian - Brian's Home, adopt cats, we deserve it!
Welcome to our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop where we always take the opportunity, each and every week, to express our thankfulness. Our Blog Hop continues to grow and we’re so thankful for all of you that are joining us. It just shows that there are seriously so many things to be thankful for, all we’ve got to do is look for them.  By the way, yes, we had the fire going, there was a chill out n’ about.

Today, I’m thankful for the calming voices of our peeps when our power was acting up over the weekend. Maybe I should say the power was acting off. I really can’t say that we mind power outages because we have a whole house generator that kicks on when the power goes out. But the power has to be out for at least 10 seconds before the generator comes on. This past weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, from about 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM the power would kick off for about 2-3 seconds, then it would come back on. Then, six minutes later it was off again.

What really bothered us is that every time the power went off and kicked back on all kind of alarm beeping happened. The alarm beeping really scared us lots. Thankfully the peeps kept the calm going on and kept reassuring us that all would be okay. We don’t know what’s up with Duke Energy, our power company, but my guess is that they don’t have a clue either. It’s mighty strange that it happened with the same pattern like that.

Anyways, all is calm now and the alarms aren’t beeping at us any more, we’re most thankful for that. What are you thankful for today? Tell us in the comments and then hop on over and join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, we’d love that.

Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Whoa! That’s strange. Usually when our power flickers, it’s a signals that it’s going out for good. Calm is something to be thankful for.

Nothing more soothing than calming voices — and a fire! We have a fire here too! PS Sunny and Chaired! is the best line ever!!!

Oh, we know exactly the beeping you’re talking about, Brian. When our power goes out the same sort of thing happens, we don’t like it one bit either. But it sure does sound like your mom and dad are calm and collected, and you all are so lucky to have them. Purrs, and we hope your power behaves for you!

We are pretty sure all that alarm beeping would make us nervous too!
That’s when having your folks around is a good thing.
They help keep you calm 😉

The alarm thing is the one thing we really run from when it goes off. Do the power companies ever have a clue?

No one likes that crazy beeping that goes on when the power goes out here, and I know the crew would be very unhappy if it went on like that for a while! We’re glad it’s over, and that your parents were there to provide you some comfort through it.

Gosh – are they working on the power grid or something around there? I’m sure that alarm thing is irritating not to mention the generator popping on/off constantly. Hope today is MORE QUIET and no beeping!!

Hugs, Teddy

Brian, we are having a hard time feeling thankful these days as it makes us feel a tad guilty, with so much death and destruction and sadness from the terrible hurricanes, flooding and earthquake. We are, however, all thankful for our many blogging friends. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

Brian, we’ve been getting power flicker since Irma. Mr. M and Purrseidon apologize for not writing a Thankful Thursday blog – we’re trying to get back on schedule after storm preparations, but we’re very thankful that our area wasn’t hit hard and we’re praying for others who weren’t as fortunate with Harvey, Irma or Maria.

Oh how lucky you kitties are to have a whole house generator. Our Mom would love to have one, and maybe one day she will considering all the evil hurricanes that keep happening.

You’re so lucky your peeps are reassuring and calming. Today we’re thankful for birdwatching. It has been a lot of fun lately.

That is strange and beyond annoying, although glad you have a generator. I often wonder if my guest cat can be calmed the way dogs can. It looked like he was having a nightmare the other day so I talked to him the way I do the dogs when they act that way in their sleep and it seemed to work, although he was a little unsure what was happening but went back to sleep and no more weird nightmare noises.

That must have been so frustrating, especially if it went off long enough to stop all the clocks – Mom hates having to reset all the clocks and get them all to show the same time:) And we like to be sure the clocks are correct so our meals are served promptly:) We hope THAT problem is gone for good now. Hope all the Sisters are continuing to improve.

I, Pocket, hate any high pitched sound and it makes me tremble. I agree with you, high-pitched noises are the worst.

Glad things are calm again. Calm is something to be thankful for. When our power flickers we never know if it is for good or not. Having your power is something to be thankful for. Joined your Blog Hop.

Little Binky and Granny

It seems like the power is reacting on what is happening in the world, Kitties…at least that is what Granny says. She also tries to react calm when those kind of things happen. We’re thankful that it stopped, so that everything is back to normal again 🙂 Powerful Pawkisses for a normal day 🙂 <3

Eeek, we hate alarms too! Sounds like your house sounded like our house when our mom changes the batts in our idiotically designed and hardwired fire alarms (a hateful chore if ever there was one).

I’m glad things are back to normal with the power anyway.

Oh Brian, that was awful wasn’t it. Mom said she wishes she had a while house generator too, because it sure gets cold or hot ere in a hurry and the fridge where MY FOOD is, is at risk. Mom said we will go back and see if we missed anything about your Sisters.

Power outage beeping drives my dog crazy too. The fire looks inviting so we’ll be sure to visit during the winter chill months and we will be thankful for its warmth!

Good to hear the hop is growing! I just came in from work but will have to publish something and return to hop along…smiles.

Power on and off would be really frustrating. Hope the issues are resolved and it won’t happen again. We love the Thankful Thursday Hop, but we keep forgetting about it until it is too late. We need to get some better memory around here!

That power on and off stuff and alarm beeping sounds pretty crazy, Brian. We’re glad your folks were there to assure you that everything was going to be okay.

Thank you for your kind comments and purrs about our sweet angel Zoe’s passing. We are so grateful for you.

Oh, that beeping when the power goes off is awful and scary! We had a generator that turned on automatically but had to disconnect it last year because the computer controller got old and it’s expensive to replace. We can still hook up a few things if needed (like the refrigerator), but we don’t have whole house power anymore 🙁 Hopefully we won’t have many long power outages.
