Hello everyone, it’s time for Mancat Monday and I want to thank each and every one of you for the quick action you took in contacting the humans listed in our Help Shut Down Best Friends Village post. Y’all really came through. Did we shut it down. No. Did you make a difference? Yes. Never ever underestimate the power we have via social media.
The County Health Department in Caldwell County responded and followed up with 2 unannounced inspections. All is much, much cleaner and everything seems to be in order. As we were starting this project we had reports of the owner of the property being there heading up a massive cleanup effort. They knew something was up. The two volunteers, now banned from the property, were, in their words, flabbergasted. Some of the areas shown in the report photos were places they had never seen due to all the clutter.
Now for the next challenge. We cannot permit this place to return to the shape it was in before. In a month I’ll remind everyone to email the Health Department contact and ask for an unannounced inspection. We need to do that each and every month. For those who got the email response from the Health Department, please reply and kindly thank them for their prompt attention to your concerns. That will likely go a long way.
Again, thanks everyone, ya done good! Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
Oh yes, we all need to keep on this! Although I really wish it could be shut down – these people should not be running it, considering the condition they allowed happen.
Great job, Brian & Co!
Happy Monday!
Purrs,
The Chans
Awesome indeed. Now to make it remain in that state.
ok, we will add this to our “to do” list and get on it each month. purrs for your action Brian and Dad Terry
Thanks Terry and Brian for bringing all this to everyone’s attention. So glad things are better now. Hope it stays that way. Have a great day.
So happy to hear that things are better there but we can’t help but wonder how long it will stay cleaned up – and what happened to all those poor animals who were there? Hope they were removed – the very sick ones – to get some help. Anyway, it’s great that the power of the blogosphere CAN work – we didn’t hear from the Health Department but we KNOW they saw everyone’s messages and by golly they must have HELPED! Thanks Brian for bringing this to everyone’s attention…..we will continue to pray that the people who operate that place… Read more »
We’ll try to remember. Like Summer, I wish we could have shut it down but wonder where all the cats would have gone. Maybe to high kill shelters. We can make a difference if we stand together.

Great job by you rallying the troops! We’re glad some progress has been made, but it’s obvious this will have to be stayed on top of. All progress is good though and we can always hope the people involved got a wake up call and will keep their act together.

Brian and Family! First Brian, you look great! Pats on the back you guys for motivating so many of us to get a hold of the people who could do something about it. And a reminder in a month…a great thing!

OH I’m so glad Brian. we helped.
I might need your help with something (rescue related) soon, I might be in touch,
I’m glad there was action and we hope it continues … it gives hope that something good happened…
I am glad there is improvement and hope it continues. It does need many spot checks in the future to ensure standards remain improved. I did email but didn’t get a reply. Maybe because I am in the UK.
Sounds like a good plan, Brian. Purrfectly done! Extra Pawkisses for a Happy Day?❤?
We are so glad to know things have improved for these poor cats, and we has our paws crossed that they will continue to stay improved.
