Tabby Tuesday: The Gate and Other Mysteries

tabby tuesday simon 04102018 - Brian's Home, adopt cats, we deserve it!Hello gang, thanks for coming by on Tabby Tuesday, I’m always glad to see you. Yes, as you’ve no doubt heard I’ve been a busy boy. It seems there is always something fun to do and not always enough time to do it.  That silly Brother Brian just sits back and watches me and smiles the whole time.

Hey, some of you wondered why I don’t jump the gate going up to the Sister Precious suite or why she doesn’t jump it and come down to meet me.  Well, actually it’s all a matter of purrception.  You see, when I’m at the gate it would be a most awkward jump up because of the angle of the stairs and although the gate isn’t that high, it sure looks like it from the upward angle.  The reverse is true for Sister Precious.  While she probably could jump the gate, the steps look mighty steep from up there and it doesn’t look like an inviting jump at all.  So, that’s why neither of us have attempted the leap.

There are a couple of other mysteries here.  For example, we have no under the bed that so many of you mention.  The big bed is pretty much flat on the floor.  Brother Brian says that’s because everyone used to hide under there at medicine time.  It still seems mysterious to me.  Also, if I’m not supposed to shred cardboard, why is it always showing up here?  Now that’s a real mysterious that even No Simon doesn’t quite understand.

What about you, do you have any mysterious things at your place?  Have a fun Tuesday everyone and I’ll see you soon.  Do you know what I’m going to do now?  Me neither, another mystery!

Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Mysteries make life fun. We figured it was why you didn’t jump the gate. That and you’d receive even more hate haha

Good thinking Simon to not jump the gate into Sister Precious’s domain. She might give you a run for your money.
Hope all of you have a fantastic day and Mom thanks all of you for the nice birthday wishes.

No UTB? The humans can be mighty clever at times, can’t they?

Our big question is where do mousies come from. If we knew we could wait for them there!.

Well that makes sense about the gate……I have always thought that maybe gates are truly “for a reason” so don’t try and figure out a way around or through it. I think Sister Precious likes her own space so it’s good you are where you are and she is where she is. I don’t have any mysteries around here other than maybe the mystery of why I can’t go outside more often than I do. Mom and Dad always seem to have their OWN agendas – what about ME?????

You do have some mysteries, Simon. The mystery around here is why can’t we go into the room below? The mom and dad-guy keep the door shut all the time…there must be something good down there they don’t want to share with us.

Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy Simon even without using toys.

I don’t blame either one of you for not trying that jump…it does sound risky.

For every house there are many mysteries and your house is no exception. Let us know if you solve any of those mysteries.

Well I can surely understand the stair jumping issue. I’m sure both of you have worked out the Physics in your heads and decided it would be quite awkward even for a most agile kitty. They great mysteries here are the two doors in the foyer….One of course goes to the great out of doors which is noisy and there is stranger danger out there. I have no interest in it AT ALL. However, the other door goes to the garage. Of course most often it is closed so I don’t realize that it too is noisy and has stranger… Read more »

We used to have no UTB here, but then Mom got a a bed frame. Not that it matters–we’re not allowed in the bedroom. She says she needs one place in the house that is not riddled in fur! Can you imagine? Anyway, happy mystery finding!

Cats can indeed hid in many places when it’s time for medicine. I so remember. You also need a team to give the medication once you find the kitty. I remember that too.

Have a purrfect day. My best to your peeps. ♥

We are still surprised that a wild fellow like yourself doesn’t try to jump the gate. I guess you are smart that way.

We can’t wait to hear tomorrow, Simon, what you decided to do and how much trouble you got into. We always wondered why no one scaled or jumped over the gate. Mom’s never been able to keep any kitty from scaling or jumping over a gate. I suggested a baby gate to The Hubby, but Da Boyz are crazy jumpers, so he went with a full-sized screen door! Also, the humans can see it better in the middle of the night. And Simon, we too have no UTB; all beds were removed from frames to make it easier for the humans to climb in, and less territory for tumbling tumbleweeds of cat fur to hide, let alone any cats! Angel can hide under the dresser, and behind the old claw-foot bathtub during thunderstorms and fireworks. Da Boyz don’t seem to care about loud noises.

Ah, mysteries! We have a mysterious room where all our cats begin. There is a nice all-inclusive suite with bed, food, comode, toys, scratcher and best of all, a window with cat TV. But then as the new cats get used to things and have the run of the whole house, they forget about the mysterious room… Until… Every so often, the door to the room is closed and there is a new smell inside, that of strange cat. These are foster cats from the shelter who need a little home TLC. My cats and the fosters may never meet,… Read more »

That’s some mysteries indeed. We understand better why neither you nor Precious jumped the gate (yet…). Our mysterious thing here is the garage : it’s the only room we’re not allowed to visit, and of course we would love to explore it ! Purrs

Timber went over one of our gates a couple of times when he was younger, but something about it must not have been too great because he doesn’t do it any more. Mom says YAY for that:)

We don’t think we could fit under any of the beds here, but of course, we aren’t allowed in the bedrooms so we don’t ever get a chance to try:(

We’re just glad your gates are set up in a way that keep everyone safe! We have gates here too. There are closed doors and gates….places that Luke can’t go, places that Sam can’t go, and places they both can’t go. Someone knows why, but are they telling?? We like to have a few mysteries too.

The curly one stuffed the mysterious under-the-bed with quilts and unused blankets when my daddy used to drop me off and pick me up because I never wanted to leave and I hid there. I stopped trying to find a way to sneak in though because have you seen how dirty the under-bed is? I come out covered with big clumps of dust and old feathers. I confess I slurped down a feather once, I’m not sure why but I’ve seen the people do it with spaghetti. This may be the last time I write you but thanks for all… Read more »

I love it….and yes, others need to adopt a Tabby. I was 57 when I got my very first cat (kitten)….and I wonder why I waited so long. She is amazing. Lily however is a Torbie – Tortis/Tabby. I got her as a pet for Dakota, my 10 yr old dog. I took a major chance on doing that, he had been the only one all his life, just him and I but when I retired he started acting like a grumpy old man so I got him a 12 week old kitten and it has been amazing. She loves… Read more »

We have lots of UTB and also Under the dresser but we don’t find that interesting, except George, but he’s weird. Then the humans keep a lid over their litter box, we don’t know why but we think it’s because there is water in there and they think we will use it as a fountain. Humans have strange litter boxes, that I will never figure out!

Have a super day Simon. And don’t worry about shredding cardboard, it’s meant to be shredded!
