Today, with many others, the lucky ones, we’re joining in on the #RememberMeThursday Blog Hop.
You can join the #RememberMeThursday Blog Hop at Three Chatty Cats or at Lola The Rescued Cat.
This is a special event that occurs annually and helps us all remember those shelter pets still there, still waiting for their forever home. Okay, like we could only do that annually. We remember them all each and every single day. It’s important and has been my cause ever since I was adopted from a shelter in 2008.
Prior to Simon and Seal, who are our feral adoptees, everyone here came from a shelter. We know we are the lucky ones, we know it with all our hearts. You see, I was adopted because, and only because the Mom remembered me. I was a kitty nobody wanted, waiting in the shelter for nine months, watching others come in and then leave for their forever homes.
The Mom spotted me early on but couldn’t get the Dad to come see me because the loss of the kitty Moses was just too raw. But the Mom remembered me, she remembered I was in the shelter, still waiting. She came to visit me and checked on me weekly. When I was adopted into an abusive home, the Mom remembered me. The shelter staff repossessed me and when I came back to the shelter, them Mom popped in and was happy to see me, she remembered.
Finally the Dad caved, he came to see me, I came home shortly after that, just three days before Christmas, because the Mom remembered me. We all, as the lucky ones, need to do our part. Remember those in the shelters still waiting. Do something to help them, something, anything. You’ll change a life forever, and we’ll all be thankful for that.
What are you thankful for today? Tell me in the comments and then join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
Thats a special Thankful, Brian… We think of shelter kitties often. TBT sees the ones at Petsmart and wishes he could bring them all home, but he knows better than to take that path (he would be a dozen and more too quick). So he saves stuff a shelter can use like old sheets and blankets. And sometimes we have toys that arent “right” for us but may be exactly what some shelter kitty dreams of. And if a packet of our treats peeks out of the box, we don’t say annything.
We think of the shelter cats every day, too, Brian. We are so grateful for you and your family, and for all the awesome work you do to help cats all the time. Big hugs to you all.
For certain. I echo that Kevin and Tracey. XX
Brian, this is a beautiful post. Thank goodness for your mom remembering you! We are thankful for all of you and your dedication to homeless kitties.
Brian, you were one of the lucky ones. We purr for those in shelters now and hope they will all find furever homes.
Another wonderful Remember Me Thursday post that made us have leaky eyes. I’m so glad the mom remembered you. Big hugs.
that was a truly beautiful post! Thanks God the mom remembered you! Here’s hoping many more cats find homes like you did!
I’m thankful I was able to provide a foster home for a kitty this week, so he didn’t end up in a shelter. My daughter hopes I’ll keep him, but for now I’m just happy I can keep him safe.
And I love the story of how you came to live with your family.
That is a fantastic story. I am so happy your daddy caved and I am sure he is too
Brian we are proud and honoured to join the hop this week. #RememberMeThursday #RememberTheRescue
I#m so gald that you are a part of the furmily now… and we will remember all in need today… and efurry day…
That’s a beautiful post for all the pets waiting for a forever home in a shelter. Purrs

Purrs,
The Chans
It’s so important to remember all the kitties waiting for homes at shelters.
Sure glad the Mom remembered you. What we have to do. There are many, sadly.
We wish we could get more kitties. None of ours are from the shelter, they were all strays though.
We are so glad that the Dad came back and got you Brian. We certainly do thank everyone that has adopted one or more from a shelter. Brian, you sure did get a wonderful home. Have a good day.
Mom has adopted all of her kitties from shelters or rescues, and her first dog too. Sometimes we donate food to the shelter to help them out. We are thankful we are not in a shelter!
We are thankful for you …
We are thankful for you ~
Nine month’s a long time to be in a shelter. I used to volunteer at a shelter when I lived in Myrtle Beach and two cats that were best friends there in 2010 are still there. Fortunately, the shelter has become their home and they are not kept in small cages but many cats are not so lucky.
What a beautiful ending to a not too happy beginning!
Hugs cecilia
Dear dear Brian.I …mommy too, love you dearly and always.
I am so glad you got such a wonderful home. Sorry you had rough times before though sweet boy. XO
What a lovely post. I’m so glad your mom remembered you and you finally have a forever home. We’ve always gone to the shelter for our babies. They need us the most.
Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to your peeps. ♥
A wonderful story…you make some very important points.
It was clearly meant to be, Brian. We’re just sorry you had to go through all that to get here. Unfortunately, your story is not uncommon–it’s similar to what happened to our old bro Russell, and Elliott waited eons for us, passed by because of his age and color. We are all shelter cats too and glad someone remembered us.
We are very thankful that your Mom never forgot you and got Dad to come visit. We will continue to do our part by remembering those who need to be rescued by contributing food, blankets or green papers to our local shelters.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Aww, I got a tear in my eye reading about you, Brian!

Every week i am thankful that i get to volunteer at a shelter. All of our kitties are shelter or off-the-street rescues, too.
Your story is so heartwarming, Brian, and such a perfect example of how remembering pets in shelters can work to get you all into new homes. We love how your Mom didn’t give up. ♥

Thankful Thursday is the purrfect day to talk about thankful shelter cats. All five of the Tribe are rescues and we are very thankful for our furever home and our Humans.
Purrs & Head Bonks,
All us shelter cats are special. All of Mom’s 14 cats (since she was born a million years ago) except Jo Jo (who came from the Farm Market and Sylvester who was born to a shelter cat her pawrents had adopted) came fro a shelter. We Remember (even if we did not get a chance to post for today).

Brian, Your Humans are soooooo good–they have saved so many kitties! We think they are Da Bomb, even of they don’t have fur. XOXOXO
Brian,
I’m thankful there are people like your mom and dad who love animals so much so that they open their homes so freely. It truly takes special kind of people to do this and I also very much believe the same to be true of parents who adopted human babies – truly extraordinary individuals. You are indeed one of the lucky ones and it’s nice that you’re proactive in bringing about awareness of those waiting for a forever home to go to. Lovely share. Thanks so much!
Brian, you have a wonderful Remember Me story. I with all homeless kitties could be as lucky as you and find a loving forever home.
Brian, we are truly THANKFUL that your mom remembered you. We are all thankful to have a loving and forever home. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
Oh my, that was touching, Brian! We are so glad your mom remembered, and that dad eventually caved. And you’re right, shelter and homeless pets need to be remembered each day of the year. We’re thankful that we found a loving forever home.
We are so grateful every single day that we and our friends are all in happy forever homes. This also makes us feel so very sad, though, for all those who are not so lucky. We purr and pray that every furbaby will get to live in a happy forever home with a loving forever family.
