Sister Seal and the Sister Saturday Name Game

sister saturday seal 12152018Hello everyone, it’s Sister Saturday, guess who? Drat, y’all are smart!  Yes, it’s me Seal coming to you from our friendly neighborhood cat tree.  I do spend a fair amount of time parked right here on one of the cat tree platforms that’s right behind the recliner.  It seems to be just right for me to get my comfy on.

Hey, for some reason I was thinking about names today.  I don’t know why, but I was.  Do you all respond to your names?  We do here, sort of, and I’ll explain the sort of in a minute.  You know, each one of us responds to our names.  I noticed that when Dad calls Brian that only Brian responds, the rest of us ignore the call.  The same goes for Brother Simon, when the Dad or Mom calls him he goes running.  Sister Zoe and Sister Dolly does the same thing too, although Sister Dolly sometimes ignores the call.

Oh, what about my “sort of” responding.  Well, the Dad and the Mom started calling me Seal Team early on so while most of the time I respond to Seal I almost always respond to Seal Team.  When it’s time for Breakfast or Dinner the Dad might call out Seal…nothing.  The Dad calls out Seal Team and I come running for my meal.  Maybe it’s because meal time is a team sport?  Maybe not, but I do like my name…or names.

Okay then, I’m now going to proclaim that it is officially the Seal Team Nap Time.  I’ll catch you later.  Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

One time I’ll respond, the next I won’t. Totally depends on my mood, how hungry I am, my mood- you get the picture…

I absolutely respond to my name. When I’m called it means SOMETHING is ready for me: food, treats, trip outside so I’m RIGHT THERE when I hear “TEDDDDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYYYY!!!”

Most of us respond to our names. But the ones that haven’t been here very long, like the three feral cats don’t know their names very well. You all have a great day. Sun is supposed to come out today.

haha need that added extra. We may not always come running, but we at least give Pat a look…then go back to sleep.

I know my name too; and at least look in her general direction! Sometimes I actually come on over If it suit me. As for meal times or for “brushie” calls , those are heeded every single time though Brushie is not my name. Heeeee,

If by ‘respond’, the act of looking up at Mom or Dad when our name is spoken, then yes. As far as run to Mom or Dad when we are called, NO! We do come running when Mom starts singing the din-din song – MOL!

Our cats know their names, but being cats, they don’t always respond. 🙂

Seal Team, you may be interested in what one lady said about her four cats and their names. She said they knew their names, and she could tell because when she would walk into a room and call one, the other three would look at that one. The one called would look at the other three as if to ask, why are you looking at me? None would answer to their name, but their own name was the only one they would ignore, and that’s how she knew that they knew!

Kitties are very smart. They are way smarter than humans. We’ve always known that.

Have a purrfect day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥

It seems you prefer the name Seal Team so maybe your dad will get it and be sure to add the Team every time he wants you to come. Enjoy your nap. Hugs and nose kisses

That is a very interesting name you have Sister Seal Team. Maybe the rest of the Sisters will want to be on your Team too:)

Eric and Flynn always responded to their names too. It’s a wonder they did though because I had so many nicknames for both of them.

Seal what a thought provoking question.
Early on Angel Madi must’ve thought her name s the sound FAncy Feast makes when you open the can of the rattle of kibble. I truly think she knew her name or maybe it was she knew the voices saying her name.

We’ll all respond when our names are called but we don’t always GO to Mom. We’ll turn around and look at her and then decide if it’s worth it!

Sometimes you cats (and dogs) are so smart! I always end up with nicknames for our pets, and I think they learn those right along with their regular names. 🙂

I don’t really respond to my name. I especially do not respond when Mom & Dad are calling me to “come” or if they’re trying to find me.

Most of our cats come when they know food is involved, otherwise, forget it 🙂

Julie responds the most.Maybe because she is obsessed with mum.
We look at her when she calls us, but is it because she uses our name?
Maybe we think there might be something in it for us 😉
We’ll never tell 😉

Our furbabies ALWAYS respond when there is food involved!

Funny, I never thought about it, but the dogs usually come in a big ball of drooling fur no matter who you call. They get over excited this time of year with all the company so you’re lucky to get one of them in a timely manner, but if one comes the others are right on top of him.

That is cool.
When Ninja came to live with his dad, his name was Doug! He ignores EVERYBODY when they call..No matter what the name…but if you shake the treat jar…
Me…I come running when they call Marv, or Marvelous!
And I am happy to get out visiting…its been forever!

Seal, you are adorable! Respond to whatever they call you; as long as they give you food!

Melissa & Mudpie

Mudpie definitely responds to her name. In fact, she picked it herself! Her first night here I had 4 or 5 names I was debating for her, and decided to call her each one to see if she had any reaction. As soon as I said Mudpie she looked at me!

That’s cool how you all come when your name is called. Brother Simon should answer to Seal Team to cos I bet he’s the other half of the Seal Team.
