Sister Saturday with Seal on Successfully Training the Mom

sister saturday seal 03232019

Hello everyone, it’s Sister Saturday with me Seal and I thank you for stopping by today. It’s been bright and sunny here and just purrfect as a welcome to Spring. Today I’m coming to you from atop the ottoman and the nice cushy towel. I like it here too but believe it or not I’m often found sleeping right under the ottoman, really, it’s fun under there.

Anyways, I’ve been busy training the Mom and I’ve been quite successful at it too. Not only am I a good teacher, the Mom is a good student. What did I train the Mom to do? Well, take care of my needs, of course! Here’s the deal…when the Mom looks at me and says “what do you need Seal?” I go trotting down the hallway with my tail flying high. Then I go into the big bedroom. Guess what? Yes, the Mom follows me, that’s exactly what she’s supposed to do, bravo Mom!

So, what happens next? Well, if I stop by the big bed and wait then the Mom lifts me up onto the big bed. If I stand tall I want her to pet me, which she does. If I plop down I want her to lay down with me so I can snuggle, which she does. The Mom picked up on this real quick like. But, if instead of stopping by the big bed I go on into the big bathroom, that means I want brushed, and the Mom brushes me. Just to keep the Mom in practice I repeat this routine several times each evening. I’m very proud of the Mom, she keeps up with it all.

Okay, that’s going to wrap it up for me today, have a super fun Saturday everyone. Oh, I’ll be here for selfie day tomorrow too, see you then. Remember to train your human and also remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

You’re lucky, Seal! It sounds like you have the routine down pat. The housekeeper here is totally untrainable. Trained seals are more receptive to cues. Anyway, other fans of mine make up for it plenty! Happy Saturday! – Tom x

Sure sounds like you got the mom well trained for sure. I, too, have several routines we’re all getting used to here, and if the big dummy can get his act together and get the right photos he plans a post detailing said routines. Have an awesome weekend!

Seal, you have made my mom’s day You have done better in training than my mom. I have her about three quarters up to speed as you have yours. She doesn’t;t get on the floor now as it is awful getting back up again judging from the sounds and gyrations I have to endure seeing and hearing.

Us moms learn fast and don’t even realize that we are being trained until its a routine at which point we know we can’t stop it! You sneaky little critters! Lily is not into being brushed, good thing she is short hair. But we have a routine that she trained me on and yes, its to later to change it and I was a goner before I knew it. Every morning while making coffee I have to fill up her dry food dish, she takes me in there to do it. It don’t matter that there is still food in… Read more »

Hi Sister Seal! You should teach “Human training classes”. Dogs, cats, and even humans who want to train their spouses could attend. Can you imagine how much fun that would be? I am so glad that you trained your mom to attend to your every need!!!

Some moms are hard to train. I’m glad yours is very smart. Sure makes things easier for you. All our babies will communicate with us, we just need to pay attention.

Have a purrfect Sister Saturday. My best to your peeps. ♥

You should really write and publish a manual telling cats how to train their humans.

Well done indeed Seal. Teaching our pawrents can be so rewarding and especially if they are smart hoomans. We have Dad trained to supply treats when its bedtime. Buddy tells Dad its treat time with a very loud meow. It does take a few at times but you know how our pawrents can be MOL. Then we each get our treats doled out in the flavors and amounts we have trained him to provide. Of course there are pets and cuddles after which is a part of any good training routine. Thanks for a report on this most impawtent aspect… Read more »
