Hello everyone, it’s Mancat Monday and I’m just hanging around the living room today, but I wasn’t hanging around right here yesterday. Nope, yesterday was an early day of practice and I asked Brother Simon and Sister Dolly to help me out and make sure all was as it should be. Practice is important, but you’ve got to have a plan and then practice that plan.
Of course I’m talking about having an emergency plan ready to go. It’s severe weather season here in the South and we live in an area known as Dixie Ally. We had the threat of severe weather yesterday so it was time for a refresher session. I know y’all know the drill about emergencies, things like having meds, medical history, food, water, etc. all set to go on a moments notice. But once you have an emergency plan, it’s really important to practice that plan so that all will go smoothly in case you need it.
Part of our emergency plan for severe weather is having all of our carriers ready so we can get in them and then go in our small interior bathroom with the Mom and the Dad to protect us. So, Dad got the carriers ready for inspection.

That silly Brother Simon thought it was a photo session so he brought a toy along with him so he could play. I quickly reminded him that this was serious business and that he needed to help me inspect the carriers.

We made sure to check them all and everything seemed in order and ready to go. Brother Simon gave them all a good once over.

After Brother Simon and I were finished with our inspection I asked Sister Dolly what she thought. She gave her nod of approval so we were all set. By the way, we did have to put our plan into place. We had a Tornado Warning at 9:30 PM and were put in our carriers. The all clear happened at 10:15 PM so we came out and had our evening tuna juice.
Don’t forget, have an emergency plan and practice, it’s mighty important. Oh and remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
yes… we need such a plan for the worst case… and Simon is a great security inspector … to have all equipment ready is a good thing, sometimes a minute can make da difference…
Emergency plans are really important! We are a bit disorganized about ours, but at least we have a bunch of cart carriers all over the house!
We sure hope you didn’t have to use the carriers but it’s a good idea to always make sure they’re ready if there’s an emergency! The bad weather moved over us and is now on the Eastern shore…..we had some high wind but no power outs!!! Stay safe gang.
Hugs, Teddy
There was some real nasty weather in the south! Mom was in Atlanta for a night but got out of Georgia early yesterday before storms moved in. Stay safe.
I guess we all dodged a bullet, thank heavens. Sounds like Dad has everything ready to go. Mom was nervous all day but then the sun came out which was great. You all have a good day.
It’s a very good idea to practice your plan! This building had a big fire before we moved in, so they had a practice fire alarm shortly after we moved in. It was helpful to go through the drill with the kitties. We haven’t had any drills since Tylan came. I should probably figure out a practice for him; I’m not sure what he would do with all that noise – Carmine tries to dive UTB.
By the way, we have one of those carriers you have on the bottom row!
Awesome idea!
That is a great plan – good for you! Brian, that expression is priceless, with the slanted ear – I’ve seen that particular look on cats, and it always makes me amile!
Good reminder. Mom needs to stock up on batteries since Hurry-Cane season is right around the corner.

That is so smart having everything ready to go in case of an emergency. We need to do that. Thanks for the reminder.
Practice makes perfect; so glad all turned out well.
Great job keeping on top of that, you guys! We’re glad last night was all clear, and hope it stays that way for this year’s storm season. ♥
Oh you and your Dad are ready for whatever that crazy Mother Nature throws at us. Having the PTU’s out will also get you accustomed to them so you don’t run if they are brought out in an Emergency. I used to sit Madi’s PTU out a week or so before her Vet appt. sometimes that crazy girl would sleep in it.
Hugs Cecilia
Such good ‘n’ smart kitties you all are!
Yikes on that weather, but I have no doubt your peeps are going to take the best care of you. It’s good to have a plan and it’s good to have a safe place to be.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday. My best to your peeps. ♥
Glad to see you have a plan in place and it is an excellent one!
WE. HAD SEVERE STORM WARNINGS ALL DAY YESTERDAY. THOUGH WE HAVE A BASEMENT, IT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE. WHEN THE ADDITION IS FINISHED WE WILL HAVE A “BUNKER” FOR EMERGENCY, AND WE WON’T HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE TO GET INTO IT…JUST GO DOWN THE STAIRS INTO THE GARAGE AND THEN INTO THE ROOM IN THE BACK UNDERGROUND CORNER AND CLOSE THE DOOR. ONCE THINGS ARE FINISHED, MOM IS GOING TO TO NECESSARY SUPPLIES ON HAND THERE. SURE IS A GOOD THING YOU PRACTICED YESTERDAY. HAPPY EVERYONE IS SAFE. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta,… Read more »
It’s important to have plan for emergency and to do practice. Good job inspecting the carriers! I’m glad your area was OK.
Good practise! We have carriers ready for each inside cat, although Angel will always be the hardest to catch. She may be almost 15, but she’s awfully fleet of foot…er, um…paw!
It is a good idea to be prepared. I have a big stash pf these too, but some cats would have to double up.
Good job Brian!! We agree, emergency plans are very important!!!

Thanks for all the good advice about emergency drills. I hope you never need to do that.
I have been away from posting for awhile due to my work and a health condition which is better.

Great job with being prepared and inspecting all those carriers.
That’s a great reminder for everyone. Mom has a list here of all the things she needs to grab before we all head to the basement. At the top of list is her, Dad, we three Sibes, and well, maybe now Piper too. We do practice going to the basement, but one can never be too prepared.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber – yeah, OK, and Piper too
We really like that you all have a plan and Mom and Dad will be safe too. Great work inspecting everyone

Nice plan you have in place and glad that you took control. So funny how brother Simon thought it was a photo session. Sure glad you did not have to use those carriers! Have a super week guys!
We believe that if you have a solid plan for an emergency, you won’t have an emergency, Good for you to have a solid plan. Hope you have all good weather though. Tornadoes are scary.
Wow! That’s pretty impressive. But how scary to live in a severe weather area!
Purrs,

It’s always good to be prepared!
Brian,
I hope y’all came through the storm okay. We had some heavy, heavy winds yesterday. It knocked our trash can over. I’m glad there was nothing in it or I’m sure animals would’ve found their way into it. I noticed one of those portable basketball goals blown over while out today. It has a wide base on it, too. I’m ready for the crazy weather to end and conditions to return. On a positive note, we did see Mr. Blue Skies today. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by!

Very smart of you to do this, and thanks for the reminder! We also need to make sure we have leashes for the dogs if they are visiting and there’s an emergency.
That is so wise, Brian. It’s good that you all are so good about it. Our mom’s fear is that two out of three of us would refuse to get in a troll box! But, we keep them very close by along with our go bag so we suppose we *could* cooperate if necessary. (Maybe.) Stay safe!
I feel better knowing that you are prepared.
Whoa! Glad you and Simon worked so diligently on inspecting. Sirens must be scary. Last night they were even talking about tornados here and we’re on the 4th floor. Eeek.
Glad you have a plan, hope you never have to use it for a real emergency.
this is good advice friends!! You have so many carriers! OMC!! I keep Cody’s out all of the time but I think with so many you wouldn’t be able to do that. Glad that nasty tornado left you alone!
It’s definitely good to be prepared and have a plan, Brian! We had a tornado watch late last night/this morning … scary stuff.
Great inspection kitties, you can’t be purrepared enough with all these weather changes, I’m sure the toy can come with you, Simon 😉 Hope you’re all fine! Extra safe Pawkisses🐾😽💞
Sounds like a good plan!
