Thankful Thursday Blog Hop: Happy Independence Day and an Update on the Dad

thankful thursday blog hop 07042019

Hello everyone! Thanks for coming by for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am always so very thankful to each of you for joining us. Each and every Thursday we share the things for which we are most thankful and we always enjoy reading all of the things you are thankful for too. If you’re new to our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, thanks for hopping in, we do excited when new blogger pals join us!

Today I have a couple of thankfuls. First, it’s Independence Day in the United States and I’m super thankful for our great Country, we love you and we’re glad to be here with you. We just wish there wasn’t so much celebrating with fireworks in our neck of the woods, that would be a really good thankful.

Second, we’re thankful that the Dad’s melanoma surgery is over. He and the Mom were up and out pretty early yesterday (Wednesday) and the surgery was scheduled in the morning. The surgery was done around 10 O’Clock AM and then they had to wait for the report from the lab, which was about a 3 hour wait. After waiting 3 hours they called the Dad’s name. He and the Mom heard the magic words…”you’re clear, the melanoma is all gone”! Hooray, we’re sure thankful for that news. Then he had to have a skin graft and a pretty big looking bandage on his leg. He can’t get it wet until he goes in for a dressing change on the 15th, that doesn’t sound easy but we know he’ll keep it dry. Thank you for all the purrs, prayers and well wishes for our Dad, we all appreciate them!

Thanks to Ann from Zoolatry for the wonderful card!

So, what are you thankful for today? Tell us in the comments and then join us for our 4th of July Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Happy 4th!! We’re so glad your Dad’s melanoma is GONE – my Mom also had a skin graft from her first melanoma – tell Dad to try wrapping his bandage in Saran Wrap when he showers – that worked for Mom! Just happy it’s GONE and we know you all will celebrate that as well as the holiday today. Sending hugs……..

Love, Teddy (and Mom Pam)

Mom and I are so grateful for that perfect news about your Dad, Brian, I see he is wearing your hat too, That was kind of you. Looks good on him as well…but you set it off in a way no other can! The softies for his feets are a great Happy News gift from all of you. Now you get him home at your beck and call. Take advantage of it and get all the extra petting and brushies you can while he’s still. XXXX

Meowser, Brian dear furiend, that is wonderful news about the dad! IF you’d had bad news, I was purrpared to suggest that you have him try black cumin seed oil capsules and/or a triple does of graliola for 3 weeks instead of chemo therapy…. researchers seem to be having excellent luck with those for treating bad things….I mentioned the black cumin first because it builds up the immune system, which in this kitty’s opinion is a better way to go than trying to poison the bad cells before killing off the good ones, too.

Back in 1991 Mom had a large melanoma removed off her back (200 stitches). They did things a lot differently then than they do now. Every time Mom goes to the Dermatology dept at Mayo the new Resident Doctors always make comments about her scar (& scar tissue). Back in those day they did the “scoop” method and it used to leave large concave ‘scoops’, Mom’s Doctor at the time didn’t want to maim Mom, so he didn’t do that, instead he stitched her up with a lot of stitches. A lot….but thankfully she has been cancer free since then.… Read more »

Hooray for the all-clear for your dad! I’m sending lots of healing purrz. I’m sure you’ll look after him. When Pop had the elbow surgery, there was a plastic sleeve he could wear to shower w/o getting it wet.

That sounds like some very good news for your Dad. We are happy for him and we wish him a speedy and good recovery.

Not only do we have to deal with fireworks all over the neighborhood, but we also have noisy thunderstorms that are going to last all afternoon and end just on time for more fireworks:(

So important to be thankful, and I’m appreciative of the reminder. Speaking of thankful, I’m so thrilled that all went well with the melanoma surgery and all is clear. I can imagine the stress of waiting for 3 hours, but so happy that the wait ended with good news. I’m thankful to have you, the other cats and the rest of the family too! Hugs, RO

Charlee: “Yay, we’re glad to hear the good news about your dad!”
Chaplin: “Dada says several people in his family have had that melanoma thing and he has started to get checked by a dermatologist every year, just in case. Something about all the sunlight out here in California.”
Lulu: “Maybe that’s why Dada hates sunlight so much?”
Charlee: “No, we think that’s because he’s a vampire.”
