Hello gang, thanks for stopping by for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. I am always so very thankful to each of you for joining us. Each and every Thursday we share the things for which we are most thankful and we always enjoy reading all of the things you are thankful for too. If you are new to our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, thanks for hopping in, we really do excited when new blogger pals join us!
Today, maybe it’s a wee bit silly, but we’re thankful for duct tape, yep, duct tape. If you’re from the South you know that duct tape fixes everything. If you are not from the South, now you know it too. We have duct tape on some pieces of our cat trees and we even had a bit of duct tape underneath our old ottoman. See, duct tape fixes everything, it will even hold together your old bottom MOL! We’ve had it on pipes, cabinets and drawers too. The strange thing is that we’ve never used it on any of our duct work, go figure.
Just yesterday the Dad was defrosting our upright freezer. Yes, it’s an old one that the peeps got when they lived in Richmond back in the mid-80s. Anyways, when the Dad was defrosting the freezer it sprung a leak, the freezer, not the Dad. There is some sort of plug in the bottom of the door and it too was so old that it crumbled, the plug, not the Dad. Dad tried all kinds of things to stop the leak. Then the magic happened, a duct tape bandage plugged that sucker up, the freezer, not the Dad!
So today we really are thankful for duct tape, although I have the sneaking suspicion that the peeps might be adopting a new freezer soon. What are you thankful for today? Tell us in the comments and then join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Oh, great use for duct tape. Duct tape is widely used here in the north too. Dad uses it to hold together the flap of his slippers. Well, one slipper anyway. He just can’t find the same slippers in any store and he loves the ones he has now.
Shoks
We use duct tape to stop stuff from moving that shouldn’t move and WD-40 to make things move that are supposed to. That’s our whole tool kit.
Duct tape fixes everything! We are glad Dad had some around when the freezer thing sprung a leak. 🙂
Didn’t know you can use duct tape to fix so many things. It’s a good thing the Dad knows how to use it.
you couldn’t say it better… our dad is thankful for duct tape too and it holds the whole world together… and it is nearly efurrywhere in our crib… but that makes the mama a little un-thankful LOL
Our mum likes duct takes too 🙂
Purrs,Georgia,Julie and JJ
Duct tape is used a lot here too. The back of one of my kitchen drawers is held together with it where a certain someone will insist on putting the knives away too energetically. Of course I won’t name he who is the culprit!
I am really glad to hear it was the freezer and not your dad that crumbled and sprung a leak.
Me too…I almost shivered me timbers reading it at first!
Duct tape, bale twine and pallets are the go to fixers here, depending on what needs fixing of course! MOL Happy Thursday gorgeous pals! XOX
Just don’t use it ’round, in, on or near the litter boxes … oh no, oh no!!!
haha duct tape for the win. Good the dad has no leaks too.
Yep duct tape fixes everything and now they even have it in purrty colors. We are thankful for cooler weather it was very pleasant outside yesterday.
We are thankful we got some rain and we always have duct tape around, use it for everything!
Mom used to be a flight attendant, way before any of us were born, and they used duct tape to hold together stuff on the airplanes all the time. Scary, but true.
Duct tape, originally Duck Tape because it used duck cloth, is magic and no tool box should be without it. Have a great Thursday!
Yupper, mom sure knows the magic of duct tape! I’m amazed your old friend the freezer is still living and doing well! He’s mighty old!
MOL MOL MOL Amen to that Brian. Duck take is a staple in this house too.
Most handsome photo today
Hugs Cecilia
Sounds like Dad had a challenging day. Glad it was the freezer and not dad that sprung a leak though. Freezers can be replaced, the dad — never.
Hey Brian, do you think duct tape could fix some politicians? I’d donate a roll for that – MOL!
Brian, dear furiend, I’m glad you and my other dear furiends didn’t get that duct tape stuck in your fur! I’m also thankful that you hosted this hop so I could tell you I’m thankful about that.
Purrseidon
Your Dad is so clever………duct tape fixes all sorts of things doesn’t it. My Dad has duct tape in various spots around the house “just in case” !!
Hugs, Teddy
Duct tape is popular in the North too 🙂 I have a cousin who uses it to remove hair instead of wax-ouch! Thanks for hosting. Have a nice day! XO
Duct tape is great for everything EXCEPT taping ducts, MOL.
You might find it unsticks pretty quickly in this case, though – we can’t keep it stuck to anything for long.
Yes, duct tape is a good thankful. We aren’t from the south, but we know the wonders of duct tape.
Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. ♥
OMC we don’t know what is funnier, your comments about things that were NOT The Dad or the fact that this post has bazillion ads for duct tape!!!!
The Florida Furkids
Brian, as much as duct tape does so many things, around here The Hubby uses strapping tape for many things, and Gorilla Glue for the rest! Not to mention nails, screws, needle-and-carpet-thread, and some other items that he doesn’t even tell me about…”Buy a new one” isn’t part of his vocabulary, if you know what I’m saying…
I am thankful that “the Dad” didn’t have to be fixed with duct tape 😉 Great story.
dood…..we canna tell ya how manee thingz haz been fixed with this tape round heer ….even round de food servizz gurlz gramz houz !!! whatz kewl iz bak in de day ya got a choiz…silver…..now itz in all kindz oh funkee designz N stuff !! 🙂 ♥♥
Yay for duct tape!! We know our Daddy loves it too!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
LOL! Yes duct tape is amazing…along with Gorilla Glue. I’ve heard it said duct tape is like The Force (Star Wars). It has a light side and a dark side….and it holds the universe together. 🙂
Yep, duct tape does it most of the time ~ ^_^
Happy Day to you,

Yep we’re from the South too and we agree about duct tape!
Although we are not from the south, my human (and her ex) have always known about duct tape – it’s also a musician thing! My human’s ex could afford new boots (he was in a successful band), but in the 1980s she had a LOT of friends who kept their cowboy boots together with duct tape.
Duct tape does the trick again. We use it a lot around the house when fixing things. We are thankful for the laughs we got today from reading your post about your dad with the duct tape. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
So glad the duct tape worked! Glad I finally got the room AC in my hot as Hades office yesterday – it has been blazing at 108 where I live! 🙂
Have a great week Brian – love today’s photo btw!
Mom says duct tape works wonders too. We have an old freezer in the garage that was bought new in 1974!!!!!!! It works like a charm but does have to be manually defrosted. Mom usually does that in the summer when it is hot because it defrosts quickly in the garage. Mom doesn’t ever want it to die because the new freezers don’t work in the garage in the winter when the temperature in there goes below 40 – something about the old coolant v. the new one.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
We have several rolls of that good old duct tape right in the drawer just waiting for the next job. This week Dad is really thankful for losing 10 pounds. He has been trying hard for the last month so his leg fits like it is supposed to again. He is happy and Happy Dad makes happy kitties
He got the freezer in the mid-80s! That’s ancient history, isn’t it? 🙂
I have to laugh at all the uses people find for duct tape…I watch a lot of Investigation Discovery too, where it’s used for even more things LOL!!!
Duct tape is man’s greatest invention
Our mom is a duck tape fan too and keeps two rolls, one white and one black, that she can use on us! No, not really. 😉
when I first read about duct tape I got scared that it was a crime scene there (kidding!!!)………..then……that paragraph about the Dad just cracked me up! Oh and the part about the “old butt” maybe it will work on me?
Brian, you are so funny! Yeah, we use that duct tape too. We also use that blue painters tape cos it comes off easily and doesn’t wreck the paint.
Duct tape sounds magical ! Purrs
Sounds like the duct tape saved the day! And we’re glad it wasn’t your dad that sprung a leak.
We wonder what the difference is between duct and duck tape? Oh, OK, we see in your amazon ads that it looks like “Duck” is a brand name. It sure is handy stuff, but we’re glad you didn’t need it to hold your Dad together! 🙂
Yup. Duct tape cures everything!
