Happy Mancat Monday everyone! I hope all is okay in your neck of the woods. Sometimes we wonder what else the year 2020 can throw our way. Well, yesterday morning at 8:07 I felt the earth move under my paws. Yes, seriously, twas an earthquake…in the South. I don’t think that’s supposed to happen.
Actually, the earthquake was way up in North Carolina but we felt it here. The Mom was out walking and thought she lost her footing. The Dad was exercising and thought something hit the deck so he went and looked outside but didn’t see anything. It’s all okay here, we were shaken, not stirred!
I guess we’ll have to keep an eye out for an alien invasion next. Oh well, it’s Monday and I hope y’all have a terrific week. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
My human read about that! We live in California and we get them often, and she says that the one near you was NOT a small one!
Yikes! WE are glad that nothing bad happened.
An earthquake would be pretty scary.
Purrs,Julie
I experienced this once ! Never happens in Belgium, was very impressing ! I first thought one of my cats had an itch and scratched, the bed was shaking !
oh what else has this 202 in it’s pocket? it seems all things are crazy on our slice earth…
It seems like planet Earth is protesting! We even occasionally get earthquakes here but very weak and usually don’t even know they have occurred.
A little excitement you’re not used to! The year’s not over yet, Brian..We all have to stay tuned! – Tom x
Oh wow! Mom had had earthquakes in Guam and Japan that really shook her hotel room, but none here that we have noticed. Glad you all are okay.
That must have come as a bit of a shock, Brian! TOWCB, Ikkyu, was born in Japan and lived several years there with #1. He was used to earthquakes. The rest of us are not!
Purrs,
Tama and Genji
I am an avid weather Watcher and have radar on all my devices that shows me everything from storms two earthquakes and I saw the earthquake in North Carolina and went what! It seems that 20/20 just keeps on giving the things that we don’t wanna never thought we would see just like this heat that is blanketing the world and even making France and the United Kingdom hot hot hot. And all years in Florida I have never felt he’d like we’re having. We might get it for a day or two but not for months. A few prayers… Read more »
My other favorite brovver in Charlotte was also out walking and he thought it was him having a problem. But neighbors came pouring out of houses and everyone waited and went back and checked their homes. Mom has a video from Sparta and a few pics that were on a newspaper site in NC. Brovver said far as he knows it’s OK. Mom will ask if things fell to the floor as they are did elsewhere in Charlotte.
We’re surprised you felt the earthquake. We hope it doesn’t happen again.
Happy Monday Brian………know what? We felt that NC earthquake too – VERY slightly but absolutely. I slept through it but Mom and Dad felt it. My Mom says she thinks Mother Earth is upset at humans who aren’t taking care of themselves OR this planet properly. I hadn’t thought of that but it makes some sense to me! 🙂
Hugs, Teddy
wow! Glad all is well despite the earth trembling ~ Sweet photo of you ~ Xox

Brian, I remember ‘feeling’ an earthquake in Michigan many, many years ago…it sounded like a huge tractor/trailer truck was in our front yard!
2020 is definitely one for the record books, wouldn’t you say?
I feel you, we had an earthquake here once, and it was scary. I hope things will be calmer for you from now on.
We were wondering if you felt it. Glad you are all safe!
We heard about that earthquake. What possibly could be next??
Oh my mouses! That must have been pretty scary to feel the earth move like that under your paws. See? This is where walkin’ on all four paws like we cats do comes in handy. Pawdy? Whatever. Easier to stay steady with FOUR paws on the ground. MOUSES!
We get earthquakes here in California. Big ones and they are scary. I’ve never heard of an earthquake in your area. Weird. I’m glad all is well.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to all the kitties and my best to your peeps. ♥
Jumpin’ Catfish…yep Brian the earth did rock’n roll yesterday.
Thank goodness mom stayed upright and your Dad kept his feet on the pedals..
How did you and the sibs react to it?
Hugs Cecilia
Hi, I’ve never even felt an earthquake-hope it didn’t upset you too much. 2020 has been some kind of year, hasn’t it. As far as adopting, all of our cats were adopted. Four just showed up on the back porch and decided that this was home.
Wow, that is scary and I’m glad it wasn’t too bad in your area, Brian. I’ve felt two earthquakes in Alabama, one was in the 1970s and I can’t recall when the other was. Both were centered far away so it wasn’t too bad, but it’s still a really strange feeling.
I’m glad everyone is alright. Earthquakes are no joke. They can be scary.
It sure is rare to have earthquakes here in the south. I heard it could be felt in our area as well, but I didn’t notice. (Was asleep around that time.) Glad you were all OK!
dood….hole lee ewe noe what that soundz like fit……we hope ya due knot hafta
go thru that again……that had ta bee scaree; noe doubt….mom nature iz knot playin nice late lee…iz her ~~~~~ 🙂 ♥♥
I remember visiting Charleston, SC and they talked about a great earthquake there many years ago. Where are you at?
That was a darn big quake you had! Anything over 5.0 is a really good shake, Brian. Did any of you kitties have an advance warning?? The Human hears some cats and dogs react to earthquakes well before the Humans feel anything. But my Human says all her cats have been duds–no warnings for her!
Glad you are OK!
That was a very strong earthquake for the southeast for sure. We are glad you are all OK. We have had some very mild ones in our state, but we barely notice.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Sure a rocking and rolling there. Good it wasn’t bad and if aliens do come, let’s hope they just get it over with quick.
OMC! We get those every now and again…but we live in California, and it comes with the territory. We are glad to hear you are all ok!
We’re so glad you guys are ok! Lots of crazy this 2020! We’re in the path of a derecho today! Super bad scary storms! Yikes
I saw that on the news! What else is going to happen in 2020?!?! Ummm…forget I asked that!
Meowza!
The Tribe does NOT like earthquakes. Our Human moved to our neck of the woods from Southern California and thought we were safe from earthquakes, but we have them (rarely) here.
Purrs & Head Bonks,
Alberto
Glad you weren’t stirred too. Hope you don’t get aftershocks.
Glad things were not serious where you are. It sounded to strange to have a 5.1 in SC.
I wondered if you felt it when I read the news. I am so glad that you all are fine. An earthquake is a freaky experience.
That’s scary! We have them occasionally here. The last one TW felt in the condo but Pop was out walking in the city and didn’t see it. People were evacuating their office building cos it wasn’t too long after 9/11 so everyone was nervous.
Being in California, we’ve felt many earthquakes, but it’s always disconcerting. I hope you don’t have any more shaking for a long, long time.
Shaking earth can actually happen about anywhere, but it’s rare in your area. Ours, too, although we have a fault line near, it moves slowly because of the swampy land instead off quickly like in other areas with more solid ground.
Hope you get no more shakings!
That’s wild, Brian. I grew up in Los Angeles, so am used to those things. But yeah, I sure was surprised to hear about the one in NC!
I am glad you didn’t have any damage from the earthquake. Who would have thought that would happen in North Carolina. It must have been shocking.
Oh no! Earthquake! I heard that and immediately thought of all of you. Take care and I Love seeing the sweet photos here. Always such a pleasure to stop in and say hello. HUGS to all across the miles. XO Stay safe!
Yikes.Glad you are all okay! We had our first earthquake in our new place and it was unnerving!!! All paws and feet felt it here, too! We sure have all been dealing with (too much) lately in this crazy world. We don’t need Mother Nature to act up, that’s for sure! Stay safe! And here’s to no more earth shaking our paws our peds!
Oh my….earthquakes can be rather unsetling ( no pun intended) Take care sweet kitty!
Wow, that must’ve been weird! Of course, we’re used to them out here in California, but I can only imagine how odd that must’ve been out there! And a big one, too! Glad you’re all okay.
I have never felt that! Great photo 😀
Though the earthquake was felt up here in our neck of the woods, our mom was in bed and didn’t feel it. She thinks Misty May did. She is sensitive to any vibrations, especially since she lost her hearing. Happy you are all okay. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
Just when we think the year can’t get any crazier! Glad all was OK there!
Charlee: “Who had ‘Earthquakes in the South’ on their card for August 2020? Anyone?”
Lulu: “Oooh! Me! Me me me me! Disaster bingo! I win!”
