Howdy everyone, it’s Mancat Monday and it’s a holiday here in the United States. Today most everyone is celebrating Labor Day, Yessiree Bob! Hey, who is Bob and why is he celebrating Labor Day with me? Well, according the the Urban Dictionary, Yessiree Bob is a historical figure from the late 1800s who traveled way out West to seek his fortune and he got this moniker because he suffered from a rare and devastating brain disorder which caused him to answer in the affirmative whenever he was asked a question and this led to his downfall in business when he was defrauded numerous times because of his inability to utter the simple word, “no.”
What’s that have to do with Labor Day? Well, I have no problem saying no to Laboring today. We thought we’d give the peeps the day off though. No litter scooping, no play time and no meal time today Mom and Dad. Oh wait, maybe that’s not such a good idea after all. The rest of y’all enjoy a wonderful Labor Day day off!

the fun goes away for holidays when a person retires. since we don’t work every day, Bob is choosing to cut the grass and labor, then we will saw up the limb that fell on the roof and drag it to the curb. About Bob, poor guy.. Bob is a really popular name. in the 90’s we were in a Sunday school class with 30 plus adults. there were FIVE bobs in that class. so out of 15 men, 5 were named Bob.

Interesting about “Bob” ! I think it’s nice that you’re giving your Mom and Dad the day off – I may do that too (except of course I will still ALLOW them to take me outside for walks!).

That is interesting about the origin of “Yessiree Bob”! We humans will just have to slack off and celebrate today between all the usual cat chores!

Labors of love don’t count. So scooping, feeding, brushing, and giving treats will occur on their regular schedule today.
Enjoy your Labor Day. Our pawrents are retired so they only labor to keep us happy and fed so there are no days off for them. BOL!

Thanks for sharing the Yessiree Bob tidbit. I never thought about that phrase’s origin so that’s interesting to learn. It’s actually kinda sad, though. I have no problem saying no to many things, sometimes I say it too much and then I have a whole more to do on another day. Moms and Dads never get any time off, though. It’s a 24/7 job!
