Hello everyone, thanks for coming to our special edition of our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. You all know that I am always thankful to each of you for joining us! Each and every Thursday we share the things for which we are most thankful and we always enjoy reading all of the things you are thankful for too. If you are new to our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, thanks for hopping in, we really do get excited when new blogger pals join us!
This is indeed a special edition of our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop because today is a very special day, it’s Remember Me Thursday, the day for all of us to remind everyone of the importance of pet adoption. We simply must help all of those pets still waiting for their forever homes.
I am certainly most thankful for adoptions, if it weren’t for adoptions who know where I would be, and I can tell you, I’d much rather be right here in my forever home. If you are new to our blog, I was one of those overlooked kitties, spending nine months in the shelter, nobody seemed to want me. From the time I was born on a Christmas Tree Farm, trapped and rescued, all I ever wanted was for someone to love me and take me home. Nine months, waiting and waiting.
Oh I was adopted once, briefly, but they were mean to me and the wonderful shelter humans came and took me back. Then the Mom lady, who had been watching me for a long time, found out I was back at the shelter and she finally convinced the Dad man that I needed to come live with them. Finally! Home I went, just three days before Christmas in 2008. What a Christmas I had, I had a Mom and a Dad and a Brother, Ivan, who loved me dearly from the moment I arrived. What a joyous time. Sadly, my Brother Ivan let out a scream in the middle of the night and made a mad dash for the Rainbow Bridge just three days before Thanksgiving 2009. We didn’t have enough time together.
I convinced the Mom and the Dad that I was lonely and we expanded our family, all rescues, providing to the world that a multi-cat household of nine could exist in peace and harmony, and we did just that. Well except for Angel Precious, she didn’t like other kitties but we made the best accommodation we could giving her a private suite of rooms upstairs. There’s four of us kitties here now and sadly we have five Angels watching over us at all times.
Adoption works, and it works wonders for the pets and for the humans too. There’s this misconception that shelter animals are somehow damaged or not worthy. Nothing could be further from the truth. We’re loving and we love to be loved. Sure, it takes some of us a little longer than some of the others to adapt to new environments, but that’s true of just about any species. Give us that chance, that’s really all we ask.
Please, let’s all do our part to help those in the shelters waiting for love and a forever home. They deserve the same chance that all of us blogging pets have had, really they do. Talk them up, include them on your blog, share them on social media. That’s how we found our Sister Dolly, on Social Media, from a tweet out of New England that we saw about a kitty needing help, right here in our town. We’ve always had the tag line “Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!” from the time we started this blog. Today, we’ve added back adoptable kitties on our sidebar and a search at the end of each post.
Let’s all pray that more and more shelter pets get to go home and experience the joy and love that lots of us have been so fortunate to have. Support your local shelters, donate your time, donate some goodies, like cleaning supplies, newspapers, towels. Check with your shelter, they will gladly share their wish list. We can do this, one step and a time, one sweet pet at a time. Let’s get them home, we’d all be most thankful for that.
What are you thankful for today??? Tell us in the comments and then join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Oh yea, Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
p.s. There is also a RememberMeThursday Blog Hop today over at Lola The Rescued Cat blog if you are joining the cause today. Please leave your link here as well.
Beautiful story and yes, adoption is a beautiful thing.
You look dapper in your tie, Brian!
Remember Me Thursday is such an important day!
I am sorry that you lived and waited for a home, then when you got it they were ugly to you. I am however thankful and so excited for you that Mom talked Dad into making their home your home! They are the best! Nine….wow, that was a lot of kitties running around at one time. You have five very special babes looking down on you and keeping an eye on you…however with the home you live in, you really don’t need angels watching you….Mom and Dad have it all covered. I mean look, they even take care of a… Read more »
Great pictures and wonderful tie Brian
We’re so sorry your first stop was so mean to you but glad you have a great home now!
I wish all kitties had homes as awesome as yours, Brian.
It’s because they are so adoptable and so worth it that we work with the cat shelter, caring for kitties until they do go to their forever homes. Thank you for spreading the word!
I am hoping to find a little puppy dog that could live with our two kitties.
Brian! Wes always LOVES to reads your story! Thanks yous for sharing it! And wes is like yous and your siblings, wes is grateful wes was also adopted into a furry loving home!
Marv, Jo Jo, Kozmo, Cinnamon and Angel Nellie
You went through difficult time but I’m so glad you eventually found your happily ever after! I hope more and more fur kids find their loving forever homes like you xoxo
Such a wonderful post. Our own dear Josie and Maggie came from a rescue center; they had been housed there for over 6 months before we took them home! Who could adopt a kitten and overlook these lovely ladies?
what a touching story… and we hope for a lot of furever homes for all our friends in need
This is an important day to remind people to adopt and support a shelter.
So many pets need homes.
You have a wonderful home, Brian, and I wish all pets could be as lucky as you.
Wow, Brian! You look super-extra handsome with your tie! Have you taken Simon under your paw as Ivan did for you? I know he steals your bed sometimes … teenagers!
today I am thankful I found your blog and thankful you were rescued from a hard life . Most of all today I am thankful for our Shelter rescue Big boy.. this was the first time i have heard your story and did not know about the nine cats. Wow! that was a lot of rescue and now I am thankful they all had a good home. at once time we had 3 rescue dogs, which is about like 9 cats. ha ha… they all weighed 52 pounds, all 3 of them.
We love your first photo with the tie. Mom always adopts her kitties, and these two we have now were adopted as adults. She won’t adopt adult cats again, but maybe a kitten or two down the road. Adoption can be a great thing if it is the right fit.
YAY for pet adoptions and shelters that aren’t full to capacity with those waiting for their FOREVER…..some wait in vain – others like many of us were lucky enough to have found theirs. This is a great post Brian. Thanks for shining the light on adoptions!
I always went to the shelter for my babies. I will say I’ve found a few kitties in odd places too and I took them home as well. Yes adoption is the right way to go.
Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all your siblings and the very best to your wonderful peeps. ♥
Great post! I am thankful that you and your siblings all have a loving forever home. I wish all cats were so lucky. Thanks for hosting. Have a wonderful day! XO

Meowser Brian dear furiend, we are all pro-adoption, too. Saphera and I were both ‘found’ and claimed, while Katsu and the Purrincess were adopted.
Thank you for hosting this blog hop.
Thank you for shining the light today! We’re so sorry you were mistreated but, just like me, our beginnings brought us to where we are today. Thanks for hopping with us, it means a lot.
We’re both thankful for the rescue group that took us in and that our pawrents found us there. Sadly our rescue is no longer doing business but there are plenty of other shelters and rescues around here.
We thankful to be able to share Remember Me Thursday just like all our fab blogging pals, let’s hope our combined effort will result in some lucky anipals getting their furever homes, well that’s what we’re praying for today… hugs to mew all XOX
I loved hearing that story… you’re adorable dressed up in your tie too
What a beautiful story Brian, I don’t think I have heard your whole story before. I am so glad your folks adopted you and all your sibs too. Rescued is my favorite breed!

Wow I did not know our stories were similar. I too wanted some friends to hang out with after Dad adopted me and that is how my fur family grew. Thanks so much for joining with this wonderful day where we can all hope to end pet overcrowding and bad shelters
Timmy, Dad and Family
What a wonderful Gotcha story you have Brian, and what a wonderful rescue family!
It’s really sad so many wonderful lovely pets are still waiting for loving forever homes. We love our adopted furbabies and would always adopt again! I’m so glad you live with wonderful humans who have a heart for homeless kitties.
What a great story Brian and I am so glad you finally found your wonderful home! I too wish all kitties without homes would find them. All of our many kitties over the years have come in from streets or woods.
What a beautiful story you shared. I’m so glad that you and your feline siblings have found such a loving home with your human Mom and Dad.
I pray that the right kitty finds its way into our hearts and home when the time is right.
Have an amazing weekend, dear friends!
This is such an important thing 😀
Well one thing that we’re really thankful for is your family and what they do for kitties and we are so glad that you ended up with those very special people!!!
This is such an important day. It’s up to all of us to spread the word about how amazing rescued pets are.
Thank you for encouraging cat adoptions! It is, indeed, often life-changing for both cat and human(s).
Wow I didn’t know you waited 9 months for a happy home! And you couldn’t have chosen a better one! We are thankful to be your friends, Brian. And we too, pray that more shelter pets find a loving home.
What an amazing post for #RememberMeThursday. I’m so glad the Dad let the Mom bring you home. Shelter cats are the best.
I too am thankful for adoptions! Both Shyla and Hachi found their forever homes with us, and both of them might not have another home if that hadn’t happened. The love goes both ways, to the pet and to the human. Thanks, Brian.
Well it is late and we have had a wild week with more to come. My photo blacked out here but shows up on my post. I am thinking of all the pets that need a good home today and everyday. Adopt rescues please. I loved your story and your handsome photos too..Have a great weekend.
