Review: Mom Boss by Hilary Grossman

For those of you new to our blog, our friend Hilary is pretty special to us. Hilary’s precious Angel Alex was married to our Angel Gracie. Dear Alex departed for the Bridge and Angel Gracie told him she would always keep his heart close. One every post featuring our Gracie she had a heart with Alex’s name on it. Gracie joined Alex at the Bridge on the exact same date several years later. If you like, you can read about them on Hilary’s blog FeelingBeachie.com. I was lucky enough to meet Hilary at a Purina event in NYC. Hilary now has a sweet rescue kitty named Lucy. Hilary wanted to be an author and now, Mom Boss is her sixth book. Way to go Hilary, we’re proud of you!!!

Mom Boss is the latest from creative mind of Hilary Grossman.  I’ll tell you right up front, this one sure did not disappoint.  It’s been a little while since I checked in with the ladies of the Forest River PTA.  Every time we cross their paths it’s like picking  conversation right where you left off.  Face it, we’ve all had those kind of friends, the ones we’ve not seen in a while and it’s like you were never apart.

Here is the official Book Blurb…

——–
Welcome to Forest River, New York, where perfection is a requirement. The Lululemon-clad moms are perfectly toned, expertly highlighted, and magnificently manicured. The women spend their days practicing Pilates, shopping for shoes, and doing everything in their power to ensure their children never experience a difficult day.

PTA president, Jackie Martin, is the envy of the mothers. She has a loyal and handsome husband, she hosts elaborate parties, and her eldest daughter, Hayley, is the most popular child in the fifth grade. Her life appears flawless, but is life ever what it seems to be?

After receiving a painful blow, when Hayley was in kindergarten, Jackie clawed her way into PTA power. She lived her life by the adage, “Proper planning prevents poor performance.” Her attention to detail (okay fine – her control freak nature) served her well until she experiences the ultimate betrayal.

Angry and hurt, old emotional wounds are ripped open as Jackie realizes she doesn’t know who she can trust. Jackie must reevaluate her life, her friendships, and the choices she has made. Will she finally let her guard down and show the world the real Jackie Martin?

A hilarious and heartwarming novel that’s perfect for fans of Class Mom! Mom Boss is the standalone prequel to Go On, Girl and Mom Genes.
——–

Mom Boss really is a standalone prequel, but if you were lucky enough to read Hilary’s other novels, you likely couldn’t help but wonder about Jackie Martin.  Is Jackie for real and exactly what’s is the back story and how did she become President of the Forest River PTA anyways?

Jackie Martin hits the Forest City Elementary School scene like a meteor lighting up the night sky.  Everyone couldn’t help but notice and the explosion is yet to come.  Always the perfectionist, Jackie not only plans and executes an intricate plan to transform the Forest River PTA, each move is measured, calculated and precise.

Jackie Martin is both chess master and warrior, she has to be in order to tackle everything that comes her way.  Jackie’s best friend Donna, aka Dina, and daughter Christie have lives that are so intertwined they act and react as one happy family.  Is it real or is it an illusion?

Mom Boss is a tale of friendships, real and not so real. Hilary has the unparalleled skill of developing characters you’ll come to think of as your own friends and creating scenes that you feel like you are a part of.  Each twist and turn draws you in and each victory will have you cheering.

I was thrilled to receive an advance copy to read in exchange for my honest opinion.  I really, really enjoyed Mom Boss and I’m sure you will too, so check it out, you’ll be glad you did.

Thank you so much for reviewing Mom Boss! I am so happy you enjoyed the story! Also, thank you so much for helping keep Alex’s memory alive. He loved Gracie so much, and when ever I saw her picture with her “alex heart” my heart melted… I still cant believe they both joined the bridge on the same day. If that isn’t true love I don’t know what is..
