Today I’m thankful for working parts. Oh, not for me, but for the Dad MOL! So far my parts are all working okay, but I do take it slowly up and down the steps these days. The Dad is getting older and some of his parts haven’t quite been working the way they should. So the Dad has been off to some repair shops.
A good while back the Dad had cataract surgery to fix his eyes. He was, shall we say, thrifty, and went with the single vision procedure for distance vision. That didn’t work out that good since he didn’t consider the in between vision like working on the computer and reading. He should have gotten the multivision lenses but he didn’t . Not too long ago he went and got a prescription for progressive lens glasses. Now he can see again.
Then, he’s always had a nose problem, congested lots, so his smeller wasn’t very good. It’s funny though because the Mom says he smells quite often. Then, the huh happened, yep, more and more too. The Mom would say something and the Dad would say huh? The Dad said he wasn’t paying attention but the Mom didn’t think that was it.
So, the Dad got a referral to an ENT Doctor to address both of those. The nose is pretty much cleared up now and the Dad says he can breathe easy. again. The Dad has, according to the Doctor and the Audiologist, mild to moderate hearing lost in both ears. The Dad is going on Monday to get his new hearing aids.
So, today I thankful for new working parts for the Dad. Just think, now he can see us and see what we need. And soon he’ll be able to hear us when we meow for something. And now that his nose is cleared up he can smell whenever we…oh, never mind that one, we’ll stick with two outta three!
So what are you thankful for today??? Tell us in the comments and then join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!
Isn’t it nice that they can help us with some new parts these days! So far, i am thankful my parts seem to work, as long as i don’t twist my knee the wrong way or lift to much to make my back protest.
We’re glad your dad is getting all his parts upgraded, Brian. We want him around and happy for a long, long time!
Brian, you lucky bunch having such a caring and handy dad…
I wish your dad a full recovery.
Coffee is on and stay safe
That is really great Dad has his parts all polished up and working again. Ours recently went to a new store on the internet and got some fancy glasses. They are just for reading and are Pink. He says that way he knows which are which. I am thankful for pals like you
we are happy to hear da good news about your daddy…. sometimes even humans need a repair (but no diy with duct tape)
I’m glad your human got his parts fixed and working! My human did something to her ankle, and she is getting that fixed. She is already lots better.
Well, mama had that hearing loss suddenl and she LOVES, LOVES her Phonaks….the best, self charging in a little box by her bed and so easy to use. I hope so much your papa can use those as they are magical, mama says. As for those other things, at least he doesn’t see double but I think two of you would be a joy every day!
I am glad your dad has got all his parts working properly again. I had new varifocal glasses to replace my old varifocals but can’t read with them so I have to go back next week to have them redone.
I am thankful that my working parts are still working too.
I am happy your Dad is getting repaired and is pretty much as good as new 🙂
Purrs, Julie
WOW – a newly refurbished Dad…..I wonder if my Dad would consider getting a refurbishment too – he needs it!
Hugs, Teddy
Getting older is not an easy thing. Parts do start to wear out but it sounds like all your dad’s stuff can be fixed, so that is the main thing. Take good care of him!
So glad your dad has all the parts from the neck up working again. Here’s hoping everything below that continues to function as it should.
Sometimes you sure need some new parts! Mom got a couple too.
So glad the dad went to the repair shops and got all fixed up! I think we could use some repair work around here too.
Glad your Dad is going to be able to hear better soon. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day. XO
Ah, isn’t getting older fun? But better to get older than not to have the opportunity!
The biped would be curious re: your dad’s lack of smell, as she hasn’t been able to smell for almost 20 years — that sense waned, then disappeared altogether, after she adopted cats. LOL. But there could be another unaddressed issue. So she’s wondering about your dad’s diagnosis, Brian, if it’s not a private matter.
Fantastic news WOOO HOOOOO! So today we’re thankful your dad is as good as new! XX
Such a pretty ❤
congratulations to dad on the new parts. Beaus dad needs new knees and new hearing aids, they don’t last forever and his are 6 years old. it is very important for dad to be able to see and hear all of you. if a cat meows in the kitchen and no one hears, is it still a meow?
Brian, we are in the same boat as your Dad! Our bodies just aren’t the way they were when we were 20 years old!
P.S. Sure, my hearing a slightly reduced, but I don’t listen to The Hubby when he’s on and on and on and ON about basketball, football, politics, government, etc….*hehehe*
the 6 million dollar man, huh? (huh? huh? wha…?)
I can relate only I haven’t gotten the replacement parts yet!
OMCs Brian I knew your dad was a super duper dad BUT NOW HE IS a SUPER DUPER BIONIC Dad!!
Hugs cecilia
We’re glad to hear your dad’s parts are working better now…or at least he will have the equipment to help him use them better. It’s important that he hears you when you tell him dinner is late. BOL!
It seems something is always in the repair shop as we age. We have to work hard to keep up with what we need. You made me laugh out loud with this Thankful post.
Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around and my best to your peeps. ♥
Good for him. And your family. 😉
Glad the Dad is back in working order, that is good news. I have to say from personal experience, getting older is not for the faint of heart. Take care and be well all!
Good to read that your Dad is getting all parts shipshape, Brian! We all need a few repairs as we get a little older.

Catzowey! I’m so so so thankful for all of YOU who made me purr on earth and now still making me purr up here at the Heavenly Cloud Catpuccino Cafe! Life is meowvalous as an Angel …. hee hee my Staff always called me “lil devil”!
That’s what happens as we get older. I’m glad they were able to help though,
It’s a wonderful thing that we can get some of our parts repaired when they start wearing out. Good to hear your dad is taking advantage of the upgrades available. I am thankful for my good health and happiness.
I worked for an ENT doctor for 14 years. They made so much money selling hgh end hearing aids, especially to the SPanish speaking community who always paid cash upfront. Good luvk with your dad’s new HA’s. I love your photo.
I came over from the second blog too. Brian you take a nice handsome photo. Hope your dad gets the best Ha’s that work for him. There are so many to choose from. Have a great weekend. https://mytatascottage.blogspot.com
So glad to hear that Dad has a good doctor who is taking good care of him!
You look dapper today in your photo btw! 🙂
That is great about your dad! I am cursed with a good sense of smell! Cursed I say haha.
HAH! Fun post! Pop needs his ears checked. TW’s ears work fine for someone who’s been to hundreds of loud concerts. The rest of her body doesn’t
So glad to hear your dad is getting his parts successfully repaired!
Glad dad’s failing parts are getting taken care of. That happens to all of us after a while – not fun.
Thankful for a hot shower and clean water.

I am so glad that your dad is getting all those new working parts! That’s something to be thankful for!
Your dad may have some miles on him but the engine is still running strong.
HAHA….poor dad. I hope all went well. I do understand the working parts that stop working or just run out of gas….oh wait, that is not an issue! haha
I’m glad your dad is able to see again and will be able to hear well again! Oh, and of course smell again! Yay for working parts!
As you lie there and are just SOOOO beautiful, I’m sure that now that your Dad has new glasses he can see you clearly. As for the knees, that takes time especially if they’re worn out (trust me). Now the ears is somethings that we deal with hear too. “Huh? What?” are very common and have become a regular part of the daily vocabulary. BTW, Katniss says “meow”…jp
Your Dad is getting quite a tune up. He’s going to be seeing and smelling and hearing like a teenager again!
