Thankful Thursday Blog Hop:  Here’s To New Food

thankful thursday blog hop brian 03032022

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.  I am always thankful to each of you for joining us!  Each and every Thursday we share the things for which we are most thankful and we always enjoy reading all of the things you are thankful for too. If you are new to our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, thanks for hopping in, we really do get excited when new blogger pals join us!

Today I’m really thankful for the new foods we are having here.  We got totally fed up (pun intended) with the big brand P  and FF always being out of stock so we switched to other brands.  We think they are withholding the foods so that they sell it out as soon as they release some of it to retailers.  We do really like our new food, lots and we’re all spending more time eating at meal time than we did previously.  We’re now enjoying Merrick, Applaws and Weruva (see non-disclosure disclosure below).

We’re also thankful to not be dealing with Chewy except for our litter that no one else seems to have on a consistent basis.  Their shipping and packing was horrible.  We’re sending our green papers to Petflow.com (see non-disclosure disclosure below).  So far, so good with them.  We haven’t had can food showing up damaged either and what a good thing that is.

Okay, that’s it for me, what are you thankful for today? Tell us in the comments and then join us for our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

It’s nice to have a consistent food supply, isn’t it. We’ve not had trouble with Chewy, but we only order prescription dry kibble. If it ever gets to be an issue, i’ll check out the other place.

  2. easyweimaraner

its great that you found a good store, who brings your food safe and also the right one. we changed from zooplus to bitiba… and it was the same trouble… then we found out, it is ONE company… wtf??? ;O))))))

  3. Teddy

Oh so happy you like your new foodables. It’s tough to find something we will eat (Mom says anyway). I’m rather picky that’s for sure but in these times when we couldn’t find my favorite I’ve adjusted (sorta) to other stuff. Thanks for the PetFlow info – never heard of it!

    Hugs, Teddy

  4. Molly

Tasting new foods is always fun and we have bought kibble that we couldn’t find anywhere else from Petflow and they are a wonderful company to deal with!

  5. The Poupounette Gang

We have been eating Applaws for years and really like it. Most of the other brands we enjoy are, we think, European only (Cosma, Miamor, Animonda). Anyway, we’re glad you have sorted out your food situation.

We haven’t seen food shortages at this end, but litter has become a minor issue.

New food is a good thing if your body likes it, why not? We have backed off from Chewy a lot too because their fast shipping is like a week now and we can get the same things for the same or lower prices other places with free shipping. Glad you have resolved your shortages issues for the most part.

I’m glad you found new foods that the cats like. Chewy has been annoying -sending emails that show the food we want, but when I click through to the site, it’s always out of stock.
But this is Thankful Thursday. Cats are good, it’s a sunny day here.

I was still happy with Chewy for the most part; but had to buy Ducky’s food direct from Dr. Harvey’s the last time. I asked the good folks at Dr. Harvey’s why that was and they said that the holding company that owns Chewy (and PetSmart) had started putting too many restrictions on them. It’s really sad because Chewy was always so good about everything before the holding company took over.

Anyway, I’m glad you all like your new food and the company you are now getting it from.

  9. MadSnapper

yay for finding tempting foods that you all like and adore. Brian your extended paw just slays me no matter how many times you do it. I love you Big Guy… precious is what you are and i know that is not a manly thing to say.

  10. Pat Hatt

Great when you can find some new foods you enjoy and cause no issue indeed, even better when you can get ones that don’t come all beat up too.

  11. Sandee

I’m glad your peeps took measures for you to have what you need without all the frustration. If you like the food better than good for you. Sometimes you have to change up what you’re doing to make your kitties happy and the peeps happy too.

Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around and my best to your peeps. ♥

It’s wonderful to know that you’ve found a new, reliable source for food.
I’ve heard only good things about the brands that you’ve mentioned.
We too stopped ordering from Chewy, and I drive across town to pick up litter at an independent pet store, which is just a block away from my mother’s condo, so I make it a double goal.
We vote with our money here in America, so a retailer that isn’t up to snuff will not get our business anymore.

    Brian,

I cracked up reading your non-disclosure disclosure last sentence. lol I haven’t taken on any affiliated links in years and those sitting in my archives are often broken which I have remove and update my posts as if they never were there to begin with. I’ve learned that’s a lot of headache and unless I was paid out right a few bucks then otherwise I never saw a nickel off any of the others. I ain’t doing that stuff anymore! Had I been making a good living at it would be another story but I wasn’t. We live and learn, right?

  14. Millie & Walter

We’re glad to hear you found a reliable source for your food. It can be scary to not find food that you like to eat. Our mom has seen how empty the cat food shelves are at the grocery store.

  15. Cecilia Upchurch

During last week’s grocery shopping there was a man stocking shelves on the pet food aisle. I asked him if there was any thing he knew about why FF was always out of stock but all the others were well stock. He said they get small shipments of FF but not much variety and never enough to fill up shelves. He had no idea why because all the other pet foods are available.
I’m so happy your staff find food to tickle your taste buds
    Hugs Cecilia

Glad you are finding and enjoying new food, Brian! Thanks for the tip about Petflow. I’m also glad you are doing better and your problem was diagnosed. Somehow I couldn’t make the comment thingie work on the day you first posted that.

  18. Adventures of the LLB Gang

We also have to admit, that Chewy has gone a bit down hill lately. We are happy to see them using more eco-friendly packing tho… We are glad you have found some new foodables that you like!!
    xoxo,

  19. Pumpkinpuddy

I wonder if the Chewy shipments showing up damaged depends on your location? Maybe the delivery people in your area don’t take good care of the packages? We’ve never had a damaged Chewy delivery.

I never heard of Petflow. I’ll have to check them out!

  20. Anne M Robinson

It is interesting with chewy. We never have any troubles but our daughter two doors away constantly has late shipments etc. We love Merrick products. They were recommended when the pups were small. Leo loves their food too. Glad you have what you need. Even the grocery stores often have zero food or zero litter. I pay extra and live ten minutes from an amazon warehouse so I get my things that I can not get elsewhere there. I will check out Petflow. THANK YOU. You take the best photos. Love Doctor Seuss 🙂

  21. Patricia

So far, no big problems with Chewy for us. The on.ly thing I don’t like is when something is out of stock, they don’t automatically fill the backorder. So, I have to keep checking to see if the item is back in stock and order it when it is.
Good to hear you are liking the new food. I am going to check out Petflow.

  22. Cat and DOG Chat With Caren

Eeek!! We’ve been doing ok with Chewy….I had to switch Roary from Royal Canin to canned Purina but so far so good. For Levi, I order his Purina Dog Food on Amazon. Hoping the food problems clear up for all of us soon!

  23. Diane

We have not had much success with the local stores or Chewy keeping our catf ood in stock so we will have check out your new brands.

  24. Anne Marie Robinson

You gotta have food right? Litter too! I think most of this stuff is just giving the world a taste of what is to come. Without farmers and truckers we will have nothing. I can not have high sodium so I am not a HUGE plant based meat fan! Triple the sodium ! Now my hubby, he is low on sodium so he can eat all the salty stuff in the world! But pups and cats have to have a balanced diet without anything harmful. That Merrick is good stuff, at least the animals like it here! Petflow sounds great! THANK YOU.

  25. The OP Pack

We are glad you found a solution to the food issue. We have used Chewy for many years and we have had few problems. A few times the packing wasn’t quite right, but they always made it right for us. Our last autoship was delayed by more than a week, but Mom figured out a while ago to get that autoship scheduled to arrive well before we need it. In a pinch we can always buy local or hit Amazon.

  27. Lucy and Chia

Hi Brian! We’re glad you found some new food. Mom wonders if you’ve tried Honest Kitchen. It’s human grade, really good for you food. You can google it to read all about it. That’s what picky-eater Riley eats, and they just started doing cat food. XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia Pee Ess, our Mom orders it on repeat delivery from Petco.

  28. Ivan and Izzy from WMD

Good for you in getting new foods and that you all like them. We tend to turn up our noses at new foods. We’ve never used Chewy. We get our litter delivered, though, through Petco. Never had a problem with it.

  29. Cathy Keisha

Glad you guys love your new food. Unfortunately the TT I’ve been eating is a Chewy store brand. We also get the Petco store brand of Weruva called Soulistic cos the peeps are on a fixed income altho I’m sure I’d like the name brand better and not call it gut rot.

  30. Foley Monster, Pocket and River Song

That sounds like some tasty food. I hope it doesn’t do too much damage to the pocketbook.

  31. Angie

It’s been a while since we had to order any fur-baby food, but we always had reliable service from Chewy. Glad you found sources that work for you all!

  32. Create With Joy

Sorry I’m late to this week’s party – spent the afternoon yesterday with my husband at the chiropractor!
Anyway I am glad you have found new food and a reliable food source for your kitties.
Chewy isn’t quite what they used to be but they’ve also taken care of us when we have had issues so we will stick with them for now but we will keep the new place in mind should we a new option in the future.
Also appreciate all of the new food options as we’ve run into major food supply issues for poor Magellan.
We did find one high end P option that he seems to like. Fortunately his normal RC MC dry food has been available but all of the specialty wet foods have very hard to come by (with one dude price gouging them on Ebay!) Will have to check out the Honest Kitchen option that Lucy and Chia mentioned in the comments !:)

  33. Ruth Epstein

Layla woofs she is happy you are enjoying the new food, its always fun to change food as Mom says variety is the spice of life, I do not buy from Chewy either, I home cook for her and what i do need I go direct to the company. Weruvia is great food and Layla gets their pumpkin.

Thanks for the blog hop and I am thankful that we are all healthy and safe this week,

Charlee: “The supply chain strikes again!”
Lulu: “They need to take the supply off the chain. I mean, who wants to be on a chain, anyway? Not me.”
Chaplin: “Well the important thing is you have a reliable source of food. Food is very very very important! And, sure, litter is important too, but if you haven’t got the food you don’t have anything to deposit in the litter, if you know what I mean.”
