Mancat Monday: Couch Hugging with Brian

mancat monday brian 05092022

Hello everyone, I love our couch sooooo much so I thought I’d give it a great big hug!  We had a pretty quiet weekend and we all spent fun times yesterday purring on our Mom for Mother’s Day.  She said she enjoyed that and we did too.  We might just do it again today for good measure.

Yesterday morning our power did go out for a while.  When the power goes out our uninterruptible power supplies that we have on our televisions starts beeping like crazy just before the generator kicks on. That beeping sound sure scares poor Simon and he ducks for cover under the recliner in the bedroom.  He usually does that but he came out of hiding pretty quickly yesterday.

Hey, several of you commented, on our post about Simon’s super-strees about going in the carrier and in the car to the Vet.  Many of you asked if there is a home Vet in our area.  We haven’t found one.  There was one once several years ago and she was great but they went out of business because they couldn’t make ends meet.  Several suggested Gabapentin, but Simon is almost impossible to give oral meds, Dad might lose a hand, and we understand that the transdermal hardly works.  So, we’re still trying to figure it all out for him.

Okay, that’s it for now.  Y’all have a fun day, catch ya later. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

You really loves that couch, don’t you, Brian?

Memories of Eric and Flynn

That is a nice big hug, Brian. It is a pity that the vets don’t do home visits. It would make life much easier.

Nice of you to show your appreciation to that couch that provides you with a nice nap spot, a perfect spying on the yard spot, and a nice “getaway” from everyone else so you can have some alone time.

Hugs, Teddy

You look comfy there on your spot. Some cats are hard to help in some situations. Sorry Simon is one of them, but he has come a long way from his previous life.

I hide Beaus gabapentin in rolled cheese, the processed kind. tear off a strip the size of the capsule and he takes it like a treat but then I assume cats do not swallow treats whole like he does. Poor Simon.. hugs sweet guy and Brian you are the best sofa hugger ever

Sounds like a lovely Mothers Day for all of you. I do know about finding the right vet for Precious. When she came home 9 1/2 years ago, I took her to the closest office and used them for 3 years. But the owners/doctors did large animal barn-calls and they employed fresh out of school vets. But they were so inexperienced things went very poorly and every year the vets were freshly new! None stayed. Finally we got into a very stable modern office with 2 wonderful doctors and a huge staff of permanent office and tech employees. Makes me… Read more »

Brian, I wish I was hugging the couch too; so sleepy!
Sweetie has been very vocal at night recently; maybe because the weather has finally turned, and there are more outside critters for her to observe?
Dunno, but a nap on the couch seems like a wonderful thing.

Oh yeah, those sounds that pop up and squeak, beep or bop can be an eye opener. My furs hate the once a week test thingy that comes on tv. I can’t seem to get to the remote fast enough to cut the sound down. Lily hugs the chair like that when she is being BAW and acting silly! You look adorable.pam

Sweet photo! All of my furry angels loved *their* couch, too! Ducky used to bark at my brother when he would sit in her favorite spot. ❤️‍🩹

You look quite content on the couch. Jack loves to sleep on the back of the sofa and has made Teddy see how great it is, so now two cats are napping there.

MOm said I am impossible to pill at home. NO way. I don’t say anything going to the vet…just while I am there. I wasn’t that way till I was poorly handled by kid “techs” who manhandled…kid handled I should say, Katie badly. They made a precious cat who was amazingly unafraid, into a cowering growling frightened cat. No gentleness now will alleviate it. We blogged about those kids.

It looks like you have a great couch! It is the best when they are huggable. I hope that you are able to find the help that Simon needs. It can be so hard finding a good doctor (even as a human)! Sending more purrs and prayers just because I think it helps. Here’s a few hugs too.

Ivan and Izzy from WMD

You look super comfy there, Brian!

***Secret message to Simon: Don’t tell anyone, but if I hear a doorbell–even one on TV!–I run for cover behind the bookcase. So I know exactly how you feel! ~Izzy.***

Hugging the couch is a great way to help it feel loved and cherished:)

Pipo used to hug the armrest of our loveseat like that, he could watch all the goings on from there, too.

Hope you can find a better solution for Simon’s issues.

To my mind, Brian looks much more huggable than the couch. Sweet deams, sweetie. As far as Simon and anti-stress meds, perhaps some catnip or silvervine might help. However, we have the same problem with Dani. The vet visit is worse than the ailment.

Have you tried Rescue Remedy for Simon’s trips to the vet? You can get it in a spray, which you could spray in the crate before loading him. It might help.
