Hello everyone, we made it through a big night of fireworks in our neck of the woods and fireworks they did. It was around 3 o’clock New Years morning when the fireworks finally stopped for the night. Let me tell you, there were some loud ones too, great big booms. Since they are legal here and there is zero respect for scared animals or PTSD issues of Veterans, the fireworks will probably be going off every night for a while.
We. the inside kitties, actually did pretty good though. The noise doesn’t bother me too much but some of those big booms made me twitch a few times. The newbies, Maxwell and Macy, were pretty scared and hid for a good while, but the Dad did get them out to play a little bit. We are glad that Maxwell and Macy were inside instead of outside with the boomers. Kiki was a bit scared for a while but she handled it pretty good. Last year on New Years Eve Kiki was outside with all of the noise. Surprising to all of us is that Simon stayed out and didn’t hide. We were all pretty proud of him, that’s a big deal for Simon. Our ferals were really scared but they all survived the night.
Hey, before I go, here is a quick look at a couple of presents I enjoyed this Christmas…
Okay, that’s it for me today. Have a fun Monday and a terrific week, I’ll see you soon. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Fireworks make us want to bark them to stop. We don’t hide…and Pipo & Minko were not to prone to hiding, either…if petcretary and pawppy were around, all was fine. They just keep the windows closed.
Hooray, Simon was brave!
We only heard a few bangs, they are not too big on fireworks for New Year’s here…thankfully! July 4th is a different story…
Good to know that you survived the new year eve firework.Next year, Maxwell and Macy would be fine too.
This is the first year we heard NO fireworks on New Year’s Eve……it was nice…..maybe the fact it was raining helped?? Love your new bed….looks interesting!
Hugs, Teddy
There weren’t as many fireworks in the surrounding areas on NYE. Maybe it was due to money being shorter and prices rising that stopped people buying as many. It was all over by 12.45 too which was good.Well done for being brave, Simon. Those are lovely new presents.
We’re glad you all made it through the fireworks. People are stupid, Brian, and definitely don’t consider that they might cause problems for others.
We LOVE that new bed, we’ve never seen one like it! We can see you’re already enjoying it very much!
Don’t we hate all that firework noise. I don’t know what happened here but thankfully it seemed like our community must have decided not to do that. Or at least I was so sound asleep I didn’t wake up. Glad you kitties are safe today and have some peace and quiet in the house.
The fireworks went on for ages here in London arrghh! glad you all got through it 🙂
That has to be your best pose yet I liked the presents too 🙂
Have a fireworklesstastic Monday 👍
We got lucky this New Years as the instigator of all the noise was out of town. The neighborhood is so peaceful without him here. Even his cars are loud. Hope it quiets down around your place soon.
May we ask where you got that swoopy cat bed? Never seen that b4. 🙂
Someone needs to invent “noise-less” fireworks … pretty to see, but quiet! Who really needs the boom booms?
Fireworks were at enough of a distance this year to not be much of a problem. Still, I was rather amazed to hear some on New Year’s Day evening as well as NY Eve. Wish they’d use the silent ones!
you in the new bed, made me MOL out LOUD… so glad you all made it through pretty good, Beau until this year never paid any attention. he did not like those big booms. and we thought it was over new years eve, but last night at 8 pm the house 3 over, set off 10 booms in a row, 4 times and Beau paced until it stopped. I wish they would just do it all at one time, this year it started Christmas eve, which was the first time ever and there have been BOOMS every night since. I… Read more »
It was a drizzly evening, so the fireworks were not too long.
While I am not a fan, I did not hide. I take my sues from mum.
If she is not scared, I am not too scared. Still, I do not like the loud noise!
Purrs, Julie
We heard a few fireworks here, but not many. Less than last year. I so remember how unsetteling they were to our Angel Little Bit. I wish people would stop doing fireworks.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and my best to your peeps. ♥
My dog Frankie saw to it that I was awake for the New Year because the fireworks got her running in fear and waking me and Slim up.
Fireworks are legal here too and started at 6pm and ended around 1 am! We’re glad they are gone.
Oh my sweet friends and family
I will never ever understand the fascination with fireworks. So very very dangerous
I love that new funky bed
Hugs cecilia
We had fewer fireworks than previous years, although it sounded like one neighbor had their own backyard show that lasted about 10 minutes. Those look like a couple of good pressies for you kitties.
We somehow didn’t have the usual drive-you-crazy booms half the night. Amazing! Glad the outside babies made it through the night and you all inside…I am grateful you ARE inside. XXXXX
Cool gifts, Brian!
We are near a Air National Guard base, where all divisions of the armed forces reside, so you’d think folks would have more respect for those who’ve fought.
If we’ve learned anything in the last few years, is that people aren’t afraid to be selfish anymore.
Sorry it is fireworks season. We heard some the other night, but in the North, it isn’t as common. XO
Fireworks ~ beautiful without the sounds ~ they do have them ~ Sweet photos of you kitties with your Xmas gifts ! Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

That new, shapable bed looks awesome! We had a few boom-booms here but not too many to ring in the new year. It’s been a quiet start to 2023 but I’m sure there are many twists and turns waiting in the wings. I wish you and yours a wonderful year in 2023. X
Fireworks are the WORST! That funny shaped bed is very cool!
Fireworks didn’t bother the three catkids here. Sophie was surprised by them but was quickly bored and went to sleep.
I was the only one who was a little scared at the loud boomers outside this year…but Mama made sure to snuggle me and play music until they settled down. Luckily, they were over by 1am…and we haven’t had any other boomers since, YAY!
xoxo,
Sunny
You all were very brave, Brian, we’re purroud of you😸We had a lot of decorative fireworks, there were big bam booms, but not so loud as last year. They are forbidden here, but some buy them illegal anyway🙀Now here’s for a Happy Healthy and Magical New Year two Double Pawkisses Extra. Make it a great one🐾😽💞
The fireworks around your area sound awful. We all got to sleep in with mom and dad because they heard some fireworks at bedtime. I guess they got scared. Xoxo
We just don’t get why people feel the need to make so much noise with silly little fireworks. #1 says she much prefers proper large-scale displays. Anyway, we happily don’t have any around our house.
Purrs,
The Chans
They’ve been going off nightly here for a few days. There are legal and illegal ones here. The ones that fly in the air are illegal here except done by experts. But they are in the sky each night anyway. Falcor slept right though all the booms on New Years Eve.,
Oh my- when I was a kid I thought fireworks were cool- now? Not so much- hard on everyone- especially if they are outside. They are illegal where we live, but some folks set them off anyhow. I sure like all your new bed and fun box too! Cheers!
Oh crap, we hate fireworks ! We had some here, but not too loud, and for a very short while, but it was enough to make us crawl and hide. We’re glad you survived that night ! Purrs
I’m so sorry you all had to go through that! Poor Kiki (because she probably remembered it from when she was outside). Yay that Simon was brave! Thankfully we didn’t have any fireworks here which was rather surprising. Probably because it had rained earlier in the day and everything was saturated. Happy, healthy New Year to all of you! xoxo
Pawsome prezzies! Would you believe we didn’t hear one firework in my neighborhood? Must be too cold!
We had fireworks until about 4 in the morning! And Canadians are supposed to be polite! Terrible and i agree with you that it shows no respect for PTSD sufferers and animals! Glad to hear you were all safe and comfy inside!
PS so especially glad to hear that newbies Maxwell and Macy were inside and warm. You are all very lucky to have one another!
Los fuegos artificiales afectan mucho a mis perritas. Me alegra que no les pasara nada a tuis gatitos. Ten una buena semana.
Ugh. I used to really love fireworks, but then I started reading about how damaging they are to the environment and seeing how much they upset animals.
There were just a few fireworks around here and we ignored them…it was the rifle blasts into the sky that scared me (Marvelous) I ran downstairs and hid under the bed in the man cave until noon on New Years. Mom thinks it is flashbacks to growing up in Iran. But I am OK today! Thant new bed rocks Brian! We got a new bed but all 3 of us are ignoring it. Purrs Marv
That bed does look fun. No local fireworks in the civilized world—here. MOL! The peeps did complain about the Central Park fireworks cos they couldn’t enjoy the show. The fog was dense and the buildings now are taller than a lot of the pretty colors. I do hope the feral everywhere had a hiding place.
The fireworks are not legal here, so most people tone it down rather quickly. The police on enforce it if a complaint is made, and if they don’t go too wild, no complaints are made. It’s still not fun for many pets and people.
I like your presents!
The allowing of fireworks is one of this country’s worst features because it does so much damage to us little one
I’m glad to read the report that for the most part everyone faired well with the fireworks going off overhead y’all on New Year’s. There was some action here but nothing to really speak of like years past. Paper tunnel looks fun and that rocker, re-shapeable bed is very interesting. Here’s hoping 2023 is a pawsom one for all of you furballs as well as for the mom and dad. Happy New year, furriends!
Happy New Year (belated)! Blessings, my dears.
