Surprise! Every once in a while Brian and I change days and I post on Monday and he posts on Tuesday. Well, we do that sometimes when there is a holiday on Tuesday and Brian wants to post on that day. But sometimes I get to post about the special day. Hey, since it really is Brian’s blog and he’s the Mancat, then he gets to choose. That’s alright with me.
As you know, tomorrow is the USA Independence Day, but here in the South the celebrations have already started. Fireworks started going off on Friday night and we really don’t expect them to end anytime soon. Usually the fireworks don’t stop until those who have bought them run out. Yes, in case you were wondering, I have been hiding, and so have Maxwell and Macy. So, I guess we’re 50/50 here, Brian, Seal and Kiki could care less about those big old booms.
Did you know there used to be a kitty that lived here that totally loved fireworks? Really, his name was Moses and the Mom tells us that he used to run from window to window to see the fireworks and he’d meow at them when they were exploding. Mom tells us that he really loved watching those things. Is that weird or what?!?!
Okay, that’s it for me today, always remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!! More Forever Homes More Often! Purrrrr! Zip! Later!

Date is just a date. Selebrate as you feel like
Well, before I came to live with my Mom and Dad, Angel Sammy lived here and he loved fireworks too! I don’t pretend to understand WHY but I guess some cats just find them fascinating – I find them TOO NOISY!
Hugs, Teddy
Gosh, Simon, I didn’t realize that you had fireworks for days! We had just one night of them, on Canada Day, and that was enough.
You all take care and have a safe 4th!
We had fireworks here in our community Saturday night. It only made precious hide under the bed for hours. Like you Simon she’s not at all impressed by fireworks. But actually neither am i.
We are all quite tired at our house from those awful fireworks. Every night they get to be more and louder and we still have at least two nights to go. Mom would not mind so much if they just did them at dusk for half an hour or so, but no, they have to keep them going until after midnight. Nelson and Olivia don’t care, I usually end up falling asleep, but poor Bailie pants, paces, and shakes the entire time and it is almost more irritating than the fireworks themselves.
Mom said the maturity level of these people is non-existent. So far we have heard some random pops and booms. It’ll go on till ? o’clock on the 4th.
wow your Moses was probably the bro from Phenny? he is a fan of fireworks too LOL we hope all will have a good independence day …
Meow Simon :-)) Wish you and the gang a fabulous week ahead!
that is weird, the people across the street have been doing 5 minutes a night at 8, i guess they are practicing for tomorrow night. to me that is also as weird as a cat who loves fireworks. out of 6 dogs, 2 were terrifed, the other 4 did not like it but did not get really upset. Beau will get up and pace if it goes on to long
Here we gots way too many boomers (not the old people boomers, they are too noisy) … you know what we mean … and yes, for night after night … I hide in the closet when they start and last night I stayed there all night long! S’pose it’ll be the go-to place for a few more nights … wish I could be like “Moses”, he must have been one brave kitty.
S’cuse me, I was dictating to mine Mommy and she made a typo. Old people are NOT noisy … they are called boomers, but they are sort of quiet boomers and we kitties rather like that kind.
We live close to a lake where fireworks are set off on special occasions. People also buy them to set off at their home.No one close to us sets off fireworks. We hear the booms but they are muffled a bit by trees around us.I take my cues from mum…if she is not afraid, then I am not afraid. Humans do some strange things.
Purrs, Julie
Wow, this is the first time I’ve heard about Angel Moses, Simon.
Things are the same here; fireworks going off, with a mess to be found on my morning walk.
People are just plain crazy, dontchathink?
Nice photo Simon but 3 days of fireworks is a bit much some can be so loud heheh! 🙂
Have a safetastic Monday 👍
I can’t imagine a cat loving fireworks!
Noelle is terrified of fireworks. Reesie doesn’t care and neither did Angel Raz.
Simon, You gotta love the south for its patriotism – love of country and God. Liberals in this country are chipping away the foundation for which America was built removing all historical significance, concealing our cultural rights/beliefs, placing all others before our own so to not offend anyone. Their goal is to create disharmony, chaos, and confusion at every turn. But those of us who still believe in the American way need to cling tightly to our convictions and pray for God to change the hearts of those who are bent on destroying our country. I like seeing the fireworks… Read more »
Hello Handsome! Fireworks, my felines don’t seem to be bothered by them, but now every dog I ever knew hated them … Just stay safe and remember, mom and dad have your back and they will keep you safe. Merriest 4th,
Charlee: “We Hipsters couldn’t care less about fireworks. Bean barks at them, and Lulu hides from them. We shall see what Oona thinks of them.”
Oona: “Oons is not afraid of fireworks.”
Chaplin: “How do you know that, when you haven’t even heard—”
Oona: “BECAUSE OONA IS NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING!!!”
You look nice and floofy today, Simon! I heard fireworks for the first time last night. I’d expected them to start Friday night … Far enough away not to alarm our indoor cats, but I worry about our ferals. Most of the time they stay here, where they have hiding places. I sure hope they will stay here!
Teddy didn’t like fireworks, Jack ignores them, and Sophie watches them for awhile then gets bored and takes a nap. I enjoy them from my balcony. But the people that spend hours lighting firecrackers that are just loud booms drive me nuts.
I always worry about all our babies this time of year. So many run away from home because they are scared and never return. I don’t like all the noise either. We heard some last night.
Moses is the first kitty that I know that loved fireworks. That’s awesome.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches all around and my best to your peeps. ♥
Moses was 100% one of a kind Kitty. Even I don’t like fireworks
Hugs cecilia
PS we heard a few last night
Luckily it’s been hot here so we have the a/c on and don’t hear those noisy and scary. Fireworks
HOLY MOSES!!!! MOL! I’m sorry! I couldn’t resist! Actually Roary enjoys watching them too……so far so good this year I haven’t heard ANY!! Hoping it stays that way!
Where we used to live the fireworks were going off for weeks before and after 4th of July and some crazy man near us liked to blow off M80s and more every day in the evening just for fun and to scare everyone. Surprisingly here we only started hearing them the last 2 nights and only just a couple bangs. Have a great holiday! Don’t be scared Simon. The noise will stop soon. xo
Oh Simon ~ sweet photo of you ~ I no longer like fireworks and not sure how Ziggy will react ~ Fireworks got postponed until next Sat ~ due to rain ~ oh well ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
We don’t mind the fireworks too much but really don’t like it when a big boom goes off close to our house. It doesn’t scare us. We just bark at it. BOL!
A cat that enjoyed fireworks must have been a sight, indeed. 😀 Our kitties have never been bothered, for which I’m grateful.
Eric loved fireworks too. He would sit in the window and watch them across the river. He liked thunder and lightning too. Me and Flynn would go and hide under the duvet if there was a storm.
We’re not really bothered by fireworks, but understand why you would be. We’re glad you have company in your hiding spot this year, Simon!
Purrs,
The Chans
Wow ! That is something about Moses. Our kitties don’t mind them much but they don’t seek them out.
Despite being illegal in my state, they are going off everywhere.
It must’ve been so cute to see him enjoy the boomers! Thankfully it stays pretty quiet here, but the noise doesn’t bother Mudpie much anyways.
We are having the never-ending celebration, although those who set off fireworks use the holiday as an excuse to blow stuff up
Les deseo un feliz 4 de julio. Y que todos esten bien y los gatitos no sufran mucho con los juegos artificiales. Te mando un beso.
Moses sounds quite unique. I wish all pets liked the fireworks, and i hope your neighbors run out of them soon.
So far we’re not afraid of the sound, nor of the sound of a thunderstorm, Simon, but we didn’t have a chance to see the fireworks yet, so, but it sure is special that someone likes it, especially a cat…MOL…Extra silent Pawkisses just for you🐾😽💞
Whoa! We used to have quiet 4ths until a certain, um, not-too-fit governor lifted the ban on them here in NJ. Curses on him. At one time I nipped at TW’s heel while she watched the big displays out the window. Now we don’t see or hear Macy*s since they do them far away from us.
