Hello everyone, here we are in October already, I told you it was coming pretty darn quick. Hey, several of you said that I looked a bit pensive or tired in my Sunday Selfie yesterday. Well, you were correct, probably on both counts. Saturday afternoon I developed a strange sounding cough and since I’m an elder, off to the emergency clinic we went.
The Doctor and the staff there were really nice and they saw me right away. With us elders they worry about heart problems so I had to have xrays and bloodwork. The bloodwork included special tests to check my heart. The good news is the xrays were normal and the bloodwork, including that with my heart indicators was normal too.
There was some unexpected good news. You might recall that I’m not only an IBD kitty, I’m a Chronic Kidney Disease kitty too. So, the good news is that my kidney numbers are now in the normal range. How about that?!?! I was given some antibiotics on the outside chance that I have a respiratory thing going on. But, I had a bad reaction to that and threw up everything I ate plus it gave me loose poops. So, no more of that for me.
After we got home the Dad was finally able to get a video of my cough. The Doctor said it was a reverse sneeze kind of thing and the Dad went and picked up some medicine that goes in my nose. It’s not fun but I’m good with taking it. So far I’ve been able to keep my food down and that’s a good thing.
If that wasn’t enough, you know we have that high landing up at the top of the stairs and it’s a ways down. Saturday morning Maxwell went through the upper rails and fell down to the hardwood floor. It sure made quite a loud thump. We though maybe Maxwell broke his back left leg because he was limping. But it resolved quickly and he seems totally fine now. Wasn’t that a fun weekend? NOT!

Yikes!! That was a weekend that one wou;dn’t ever want to repeat! Brian, we are glad your labs are so good, and we do hope and pawray that you’ll soon feel a lot better!
And poor little Maxwell.what a scare he gave you all, wow! Glad he is fine, well, maybe not his pride so much. Let’s hope he doesn’t have repercussions.
POTP!!
Never a dull moment around your house Brian! Glad you and Maxwell are both OK.
Hugs, Teddy
Oh goodness! That was quite a weekend. Great news on your kidney function, Brian, and we hope the cough clears up quickly. Maxwell’s fall must have given you all quite a scare. We’re glad he’s OK. We hope your week is quiet!
Purrs,
The Chans
We hope you’re back to 100% soon, Brian, and poor Maxwell! You certainly did not have the bestest weekend!
My goodness Brian, that’s just too much going on at one time at your house. So good to hear that you’re okay, but have to take medicine to make sure you stay that way for now. And poor Maxwell, he’s young and his bones are softer so thank goodness it didn’t break.
Poor Brian, but at the same time, you are lucky having a dad that really cares!
Goodness sakes, you two kept your parents busy on the weekend. We hope you will be alright and get back to normal with your nose meds. Glad the little guy seems to be fine too. Hopefully he learned a lesson about being crazy up high.
I am so happy your bloodwork shows good news and that you are ok now… I knew you looked OFF.. hugs Brian. Poor Maxwell, so glad he was not harmed. I thought cats always landed on their feet… I know that was scary for all of you
Brian, that was not a good weekend for any of you really. But you and Maxwell especially. I am so glad things turned out alright! And how amazingly good that your kidney values were good! How did that come about I wonder? But it’s a miracle and I’m grateful with you. That was a frightening thing that happened to Maxwell.
So glad you are both feeling better!
Oh, gees, that’s not the kind of weekend anyone wants, Brian. I’m so sorry you had to go the emerg vet, though it’s terrific news your kidney values are in the normal range again, and that FINALLY, with your dad’s video, they were able to determine what the cough was. I hope it’s quickly resolved with the meds! I also hope Maxwell is just fine from here on in…and never repeats that “escapade” again! Yikes! Purrs to you all from my angels!
Oh dear, all the pawsible “bad news stuff” that thankfully turned out not to be so “bad” after all … “good news stuff” that Brian and Maxwell are all OK! Hopefully next weekend can be more un-eventful .. purr-please!
Feel better.

I’m glad your condition is not too bad. I had to give Chris antibiotics recently and he threw up often after a dose.
I’m certainly glad that your X-rays and bloodwork came back normal, as well as your kidney values!! And I’m glad, too, that Maxwell is okay after that scary fall from the high stair landing!! Goodness, what a weekend you all had!!

Oh my that was a scary weekend for sure!!!!!!! Do you know that our Angel Dakota used to have reverse sneezes ALL of the time? They are so scary! I am sooooooo happy about your kidneys Brian that is FANTASTIC news! Also I am THRILLED that Maxwell is ok!!!! Poor Dad, he had to be a nervous wreck this weekend! Sending extra hugs and love to all of you!
Oh dear, oh dear, Brian!
We are purring that you are feeling 100% in no time, and that Maxwell had better be more careful, otherwise he’ll have an emergency vet visit like yours in his future.
(Glad he’s okay)
Oona: “That does not sound like a fun weekend 7to Oona at all! It is a good thing Maxwell is a youngster like Oona and recovers fast from things like falling from a great height!”
Charlee: “Good news on your results, Brian! We like to hear things like that!”
Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well, Brian. That was quite a drop for Maxwell, too. We will keep our paws crossed that both of you continue to feel better.
Hope everyone is on the mend and wishing you a relaxing week ~ be well ~ Xo

Oh dear ! We are glad things seemed to have turned out all right – but how scary for both you and Maxwell – and Dad and Mom ! The good kidney numbers are an unexpected bonus !
Sorry you don’t feel well. I hope you are better soon. ANd I hope Maxwell doesn’t do that again. XO
Oh my goodness that’s a nightmare of a weekend! I’m so glad both you and Maxwell are ok. Purrs!
Oh Buddy, what a hard weekend for you. Praying for weeks of hood health and peace for you.
Uy espero que se mejore, Pobre gatito. Te mando un beso.
I’m glad to hear you just had a strange kind of sneezy fit and your kidneys are doing better. I think you used to be on some kind of medication they removed from your line-up, perhaps that was stressing your kidneys as it can happen that way.
Meanwhile, I do hope Maxwell learned his lesson and all of you have a much less stressful week.
I was so sad when you told me about your eventful Saturday! That’s not the kind of excitement we like. Please feel better, dear Brian. We love you!
Oh, what a weekend. ~hugs~ I wish you all the best, my dear.
OMC and OMD! Mom hates when the vet doesn’t know what’s wrong so he/she pulls out the antibiotics!. We’re all so glad both you and Maxwell are ok, and yes, a weekend from H.E.Double hockey sticks! XOX Xena and my gang
Goodness Brian! You have some pretty big concerns, but luckily none of them had a negative result. You must have a very sturdy constitution, Brian. And so glad to hear the little one was just shaken, and stirred eventually. Whew!
Dang, that was quite a crazy weekend, Brian. We are glad you are feeling better — and that Maxwell is okay!
OMC what a weekend, but happy that effurrything went out fine with you Brian, and with Maxwell too. Will send Healing Pawkisses to the both of you🐾😽✨
Wowzers!!! That was way too much excitement for one weekend. First of all, we are thrilled to hear the good news about your kidney numbers – that is awesome!!! And we are hoping the meds help that reverse sneeze. We have that happen here sometimes too. And Maxwell, no more landing gymnastics – that must have been so scary for everyone. We are so happy he is OK. Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber Pee Ess, we are so far behind with the blogs but we have an excuse. The peeps had a new deck installed and it made life… Read more »
Wow, that definitely was a lot of excitement, and we are happy everyone is okay. Great that your kidney values are good, Brian. We’ve never heard of a reverse sneeze. Sawyer once fell from the upper landing through the bannister rails during a seizure. Luckily, he was injured.
