Our sweet Mancat Brian fought as much as he could fight, but in the end he could fight no more.  Brian crossed his Rainbow Bridge today and our world is a sadder place.  Brian was such a sweet and loving boy and he brought such joy to us and to so many of you. 

For those of you who have not been with us for long, Brian was always known at The Cat In the Hat, with his own special fedora. Rest in peace sweet love, you’ve sure earned it.

We’ll be taking a few days off and will be back on Thursday.

  2. I’m so overcome with grief that I’m literally gasping for breath. I am so, so sorry. I don’t have words. I just don’t. Brian WAS the Cat Blogosphere for me, in so many ways. I’m just gutted for you all. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this horrible time. I’m sorry, so sorry.   7. Oh no, this is so sad. He was one of our first blogging friends way back when Emma started the whole thing before any of us were even born. Our hearts break for your family. He was a wonderful cat and the other kitties will miss him in their lives. We are all so very sorry for your loss, we know your hearts are broken, but you gave him the best life a cat could imagine.   14. Oh Terry! I am so, so sorry for your loss. I’m sure your heart is breaking along with so many others who followed your sweet boy. It’s good that you have so many pictures of him to keep the memories fresh. The love lasts forever, and Brian generated so much of it. He will always be an icon of the Cat Blogosphere.

    Even though we will miss Brian terribly, thank goodness he is no longer suffering. I’m sure he will join those who went before including all his brothers and sisters in a happy reunion.

  51. I can’t begin to tell you the heaviness in my heart today. Terry I am so sad to hear that Brian left for the bridge today. He was always such a bright spot of hope and resilience. That sweet boy lit up the rainbow bridge in rainbow colors when he passed over. I know he was welcomed by so many who have preceeded him there, but that doesn’t erase the loss in your heart. Except to say for 15 years he filled it with his love and loyalty. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

    We are sure that Ayla and Iza (and SO many others) were there at the Bridge to welcome you. Marley says he got a thought-message from Ayla saying that you “tipped your fedora and crossed with tail held high” to “apaws and welcoming “meows”. And that Ayla said “Well, I finally get to meet you”.

    And a thought… No more subQ fluid stabbies every few days…

    I have often thought that cats get to choose their permanent “forever” age OTB as they cross. I think mine have chosen 2-3 mostly. Adult, but still playful and strong and healthy. What age do you think Brian chose?

    We started fairly recently to follow the blog every day, and we love all of the kitties. But Brian was the star and leader, and we loved his quiet strength. He knew how to get a good snooze too. Definitely our favorite man cat!! That stylish fedora was just right for him.
    We are sorry for his caring Parents as well. We know they gave him the best possible support, as they do to all of the kittens living with them.

  69. As Kim says, in many ways Brian was the face of the Cat Blogosphere, one of the first we met when we began to follow it.
    We are so saddened to read this, but we know as many as shed tears at his leaving, equally as many welcomed him there. Purrayers to his Mom and Dad and all his fur sibs. Much as he will be missed, he will never be forgotten.

Brian was one of my favorite kitties, he encouraged me to donate some of my author proceeds to not only dog rescue organizations but the cat rescues as well and over the years I’ve made many new friends in such groups, thanks to Brian. He will be sorely missed.
