Today I’m thankful for this big pond of water. Well, I do know it’s not really a pond, but that’s what it is called here. This big bowl of water used to belong to the two big dogs that lived here before they went to the Rainbow Bridge. Their names were Angie and Ginger. Anyways, the dogs always had this big bowl of water, but the cats who lived here loved it too and they nicknamed it “The Pond”, and that name stuck.
I do like my fresh drinks and lately The Pond has been my go to place, same for Maxwell. We used to both drink out of one of the fountains lots, but all of a sudden we quit using the fountains. Simon is the only one still drinking out of the fountains. How’s that for a mystery? The Dad and Mom have been trying to figure out what caused us to be anti-fountain. It did seem to happened shortly after Brian went to the Bridge. We are still very thankful for the Big Pond though.

The Pond certainly did come in handy, Macy! That’s a mystery indeed as to why no one likes the fountain any more. I too have lived with cats who liked something and then suddenly didn’t. And I had no clue why, either!

Having a big pond is convenient.
Do the fountains have filters? Sometimes filters clog and the water tastes funny and the filters have to be replaced. Sometimes they just need a thorough cleaning out and to be left to get totally dry, down to every little part, to get rid of an odd odor or taste. Perhaps something happened to scare you while you were at the fountain, but that would make more sense if it happened to Simon, not you!
Anyway, I’m glad you have plenty of fresh, clean water whenever you need it.
That is quite the puzzler, Macy. Tylan has never once taken a drink from the fountains we’ve had. Giovanni is actually using the fountain more these days! It took him a while to catch on.
I have a big bowl just like that! But I don’t have kitties to share it with. 🙁❤️
Fresh water is very important!
It’s fun to have a big bowl of water, especially when you want to send your toys for a swim. We don’t have a big pond, but we are thankful for our small water bowl and fountains, and running faucet for Wolfie.
We enjoyed seeing your tree yesterday, Macy!! Hope it survives till the holidays are over…Hmmm time will tell!!
We have two big ‘bonds’ like yours, too…the fountain that Pipo had was put away when *he* used it as a paw washing station,LOL!
we love the pond… it has a history and it is as if the doggiefriends are still there..
That really is a big pond and it’s lovely that you still have the choice of it, we hear you cats can be quite fickle about where you drink, unlike us dogs when any muddy puddle will do for a quick drink. Boris & Eko xxx

Hi Macy…….I had a fountain but wouldn’t use it – I love having my “mini-ponds” of water though and Mom has one on each of our three floors in the house for me to use. I kind of think it might be fun to have a BIGGER bowl of water though – I might ask Mom about that!

Macy, it’s a very good thing that you’re drinking water even if it is out of the pond. Do you see any fish swimming in there? Maybe a duck will fly in and land.
We both got used to drinking from the fountain but it took some time. Now we like it and drink more than we used to. But Our Mom still puts out a little pond dish for us too. 😸😺
We have that bowl at our house, but Mom uses it for baking dinner in the kitchen. It would make a nice water bowl. Our water bowl is big and silver, a dog bowl, of course.
Hmmm, maybe there was a conspiracy theory going around about the fountain after Brian went to the R.B. XOX Xena

I know all of you will be *consulted* daily (watched by Mom and dad) to see if you continue doing that. It IS an oddity. I am wondering too!
My mom had two ponds here for me too. I loved them. One day she saw the elevated water bowls and bought them because I am a more older lady and didn;t have to bend all the way down to drink. But I loved my ponds and my Donkey and other family would occasionally go swimming! One furriend said, on seeing the floating family mousie, that a life saver was needed. It made Mom and me laugh.
well, this is a real mystery. hummm very odd. i will ponder on pond vs fountain and let you know if i have any ideas. Beau only drinks from one pond, he will not drink in the back yard. have tried every thing. the only dog we have ever had that would not drink from anything we put water in.

I thought about getting a fountain for a long time ago – when Ducky was just a puppy – but decided against because our house was just not built to accommodate those kinds of things. And the filters get expensive – just like the fridge filters – after a while.
Well Macy, you are a cat and can change habits anytime you feel like it. Unlike Peeps, who need to keep on a tight schedule for the kitties, ‘specially at dinnertime – MOL!
That is quite the ‘pond’ Macy ~ if it ever froze ~ you could go skating ~ ya think? lol

Mornin’, Miss Macy – You are as cute as a little button! Can you see your reflection in The Pond? Our outside kitties have two water sources here – a regular bowl of water near their food and also a plate with dividers that is placed in the bird bath in the front yard. We don’t put water in the bird bath itself, just the plate, and we like this one in case a bee tumbles into it getting a drink, they have a way to get out by just climbing up onto the divider. A couple of the kitties enjoy lapping from the bird bath plate quite a bit!
The Pond is a great name for that huge water bowl. Our Lil’ Bit won’t drink out of the fountain either. Weird.
We’re thankful we have Lil’ Bit inside and she’s doing well. We are now feeding a kitten that the mom went missing and his/her sibling didn’t make it. A wee black kitty. So cute.

Wow Macie, mew need some little fishies in that pond, imagine the fun! MOL We quit using our fountains a few months ago, Fudge loved them but then the novelty just wore off! Guys, we hope mew have a truly epic weekend!
